Which consumer base got shafted the most this gen?

PC's been shafted aswell with ludicrous DRM systems aswell.Mind you most hermits will have a vein attempt to sweep it under the carpet.

For me it is 360. Sure, at the beginning of this gen Microsoft did everything for gain the gamers fanbase but now that Kinect was released and they saw Ninty's success with casuals they have completely forgotten of the customers who helped them stay in the console business and are only releasing shovelware.

PS3 is close second. Launch price was absurd, then they completely removed BC from ps2, bad internet service (I know it is free but still), PSN hack and multiplats mostly blow on the console. Plus they took a lot of focus on shooter this genre as exclusives and most of them are quite bad.

Ninty, well, everyone knows Nintendo focuses on kids and casuals so no one was disappointed by them, I expect.

Everyone:

360 had RROD and paying for Live. Plus MS branded overpriced accessories.

PS3 had ridiculous launch price, no rumble in the pads (they lied and said is was impossible with Sixaxis until O WAIT it is possible, now rebuy your controllers), no headset included in console, and if it does break it costs 160 euro to get fixed, as opposed to free with 360.

Wii was generally the cheapest but gave you the least. Last gen tech for the most part, broken online, SD graphics, not to mention all the peripherals that kept getting released and promptly forgotten after 1 or 2 games. Also Nintendo games almost never come in price, hmmm I can buy Kirby Epic Yarn for 40 euro or I can get Deus Ex Human Revolution and LA Noire for 20 each, what am I gonna pick there? :P Face it, we all get screwed by everyone :D

Having on a rare occassion browsed these forums, one thing does scream to mind, and that is virtually no one here is a true gamer as alot of you seem to spend way too much of your short lives arguing about minor differences between very similar machines and games. Go outside get some fresh air and do something constructive for once.reggy72

The PS3 comparison to the HDTV, in value of technology, was an analogy to demonstrate how they differ from the value of games and movies they use. This was in order to show you why your comment about PS3 games being worth $600 didn't make any sense...do you even know what an analogy is? lets see what xbox360 for a $400 launch price gave consumers out the box...

1. Playable media types...DvD9, CD-ROM

2.madatory $50 annual fee in order to play games on-line...now that price has been increased to $60.

3. Battery powered controllers that require frequent change out.

4. virtually non-existent backward compatibility capability

5. closed platform design, requiring consumers to pay extreme propitiatory prices for all accessories (ex $100 for a 20 gig hdd)

It's also curious that those people are also only listing $600...there were 2 versions the 60 gig and the 20 gig the 20 gig was only $500.

FYI:

there are things people can probably argue for consumers getting the shaft with the PS3 in general (not so sure about that when compaired to others) but PS3's launch price is not one of them.

The xbox360 is much more of a shaft for launching at $400 than PS3 is for launching at $600.
