For me it was Quake 3 Arena on PC. It looked so sharp and detailed when it came out.

Battlefield 2. First game I played with my first gaming PC and wow, never seen anything as good looking as it before. Crysis, FEAR, Doom 3, and Metro 2033 were also really good.
Are we talking with or without mods?
Without mods it would probably be Metro 2033. Some effects in that game are dazzling. I guess you could put Crysis there too but it was a little rough at Vanilla.
With mods Crysis is definitely there. But what tops them all for me is GTA IV with iCEnhancer. There are times when playing that that it literally looked real. Even for split seconds. And no game has ever done that for me. I have never actually thought a game looked like real life before. But whatever way the ligh shines in some parts with that mod on, It looks flat out sensational
[QUOTE="OneSanitarium"]Try Uncharted 2 on the PS3......I've never been impressed by any games graphics.

I wasn't even impressed by it. When in the game, all I ever got was blur and jaggies.

That has to be a lie. Not even once? for scale/technicality/physics? nothing?

Nope. I'll admit things look good or nice, but I've never been blown away by anything.
Hmm...well I know the game is old now but man when I first saw Oblivion my jaw hit the floor! I had Morrowind on the origional xbox and I was a huge fan of it and then they announced the first trailer for Oblivion and I couldn't believe what I saw, the best looking game I ever laid eyes on!
Of course now it doesn't look so hot, but back then when I was a kid and when they showed the first trailer for the 360I was in heaven lol
OH DUH. i completely forgot about final fantasy XIII (hate it if you want, but that's one pretty game). and the greatest game of all time, shadow of the colossus.BrunoBRS
I agree on the FFXIII comment. Felt like the entire game was one big FMV at times. Heck the battles themselves have so many tiny almost forgettable effects going on (especially with magic spells) that I often rush to input commands so I can focus on the wisps of flames and the droplets of water. :P
Modded GTA IV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWpiGYnyCPo
Nothing else on consoles, and very few on the PC, really comes close.
Quake. Seriously, when that came out it completely changed my perception of what a game could look like.

i was doing some sidequests with a friend, he had never played it, and he was like "i... i think this might be the prettiest game i've ever seen".Crysis first, and then Killzone 2 for consoles
BigBoss154
I remember when I first saw Killzone 2. I was at a store and I watched someone play it and I thought I was watching a high graphic movie lol, it looked that good. Thankfully the game played great aswell....

Me: :o:cry:
Individual hairs on character's faces or realistic graphics that almost (but not quite) make you forget you're playing a game got NOTHING on the sheer beauty of the world of Cocoon and Pulse.

Well, Square Enix had to put some time into making the character models pretty considering how terrible the rest of the game is. The graphics are really the only good part of the game, I agree.Well, Square Enix had to put some time into making the character models pretty considering how terrible the rest of the game is. FFXIII is a solid entry in the series. Better than several others in the main canon (including VII, IMO).
