I suppose that if most games are made in countries where "white" is the majority, the games will reflect that.
In Men of Valor you are a black marine. ;)

[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="Lto_thaG"] Yea,but I wasn't talking about that.You shoot black people too in the game,just like in RE5..But I don't remember hearing complaints about it.Lto_thaG
Of course there werent... I mean there's no way it's anywhere near as popular as RE... I mean common sense is one thing few of these people have when complaining :P Guaranteed the majority of people who were complaining probably weren't black
N'Gai Croal(sp?) complained and that black girl's blog(I think). They're black.I don't doubt there were black people who complained obviously, but I can guarantee it wasn't all... People just like to give things they don't like negative press... Some people are too righteous for their own good
edit: well not guarantee as I doubt I will find physical evidence :P
lol anyways we're going off topic a little
lol i think 3rd picture is the racist one, that preying mantis was just minding his own business when the robot pulled out a gun.

Thats not right, you can't group together all those people in one group "white" there is a difference between the vast groups of people who get called "white". So quit the racism card
whats wrong with white people and there are plenty of Asian leadsI really don't think i've seen a non white main/playable character. Most of the main/playable characters are white people, like gears 1&2, killzone2, uncharted 1&2, dark sector, assassins creed, etc. Even with comic book super hero's they are all white too, whats the deal?

[QUOTE="cloudff7tm"]I don't think so :P He was supposed to be. I think they wanted to make him ambiguous in the first game but that was thrown out the window in Ties That Bind. He has a black wife and kids, lives in a predominantly black neighbourhood, speaks like a black person and is referred to as 'brother' by some of black supporting characters :P.Wasn't the main character of The Suffering black?

persians are white, white boyI'd say most (western) developers are white and so will gravitate to white characters. Perhaps we need more black developers to make main characters who are black? If you have an issue with it get yourself out there out and do something about it!blue_hazy_basicWe even see an unusual amount of white Caucasian protagonist from Eastern developers...

Yea I know it won't go away but seriously does it matter what the character's genetic history(or where they came from). What happens when we get mixed characters, "white people" born and raised in africa, or GRAY characters like Kratos thrown into the game?
Since RE5 comes out tomorrow I'll use that as an example... I never found it racist. If anyone regardless of color, found themself being attacked by mobs of people (monsters, etc.) they should be able to defend themselves without having the thought "maybe this is racist" even crossing their mind.

It's one of those words that has become popular. By all means certain people have the right to cry racism, if it is in fact racist. However to do so just for attention is disgusting and very contemptibla

what! obama's black? i thought he was white. sure his hair was cut a bit short for a politician but come on black? really?[QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]I was reading some stuff about Matrix Reloaded and people were like, "there's alot of black people in that movie." LOL, lie 4/20 characters are black and all the others are white, but thats considered to be a massive amount. If you had a game with a non-white lead, I think the majority of americans would consider it to be a "race x" game. Similar to how any movie with a black lead other than Will Smith is considered to be a black movie. The only race that could skate buy is Asians, but only if the movie takes place in china town or involves Ninja. It'd be ok then. But if it was just the story of somebody was asian, I think most americans would be like, "Oh, this is a game for Chinese people (regardless of the actual country of origin) and would avoid it.lhugheyI agree 100%
Me too! You might can get away from racism, but you can't get away from stereotypes!

Topic starters could be:
MLB The Show is not exclusive
Wii is dominating in sales but doesn't have the games
Xbox360 and PS3 are the twins with there being no point in owning both
etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, a serious answer. In games, you need character development, right? What if a developer is white? He doesn't know what a black's culture or whatever is like. Let me get an example from the movie business. Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, 40 y/o Virgin, etc.) was going to write a comedy that focused on gay dudes. However, when he started writing the script, he discovered that he knows nothing about gays at all. He doesn't know how to make the character develop, he doesn't know what goes on in a gay dudes head, etc. I'm not sure what the stats are for black and white developers, but I'm guessing that there are a lot more white guys making games than black guys. So yeah. That's a possible theory.
