no, i was born there Ok, I was 50/50 on wether or not you was a troll, but I think these statements confirm it now.I don't know about other people's idea of realistic gunplay. But, my version of it is hearing bullets kick up dirt around me and I'm wondering where the heck they're coming from when all I can see is a village and a tree line at the horizon. The engage distances in the majority of FPS games are really waaaay too close.
I agree with ARMA II for the closest approximation of realism.

I've never been an FPS fan and maybe only play 2, at most, FPS's in a generation. This gen I've played a few more specifically because of the Modern Warfare series. Why? Because Call of Duty, and more specifically Modern Warfare, has really turned the FPS genre into something cinematic and therefore more exciting and involving.
At least, that has been my own exerience. I actually feel like I am playing a different sort of game when playing Modern Wardare compared to just any other FPS. I don't really find the controls any better, I just feel like I am more involved in the game because there seems to be more story and character to it. I feel like I am part of that story and no other FPS's make me feel that same way.
Most of the time I just feel like a gun floating around in space shooting everything that moves and for myself, that gets real boring real fast and I just don't care.

That is true..... so long as the "R" word isn't brought up. He He. People should just play it for what it is.
unless on the PC, you cant have both. im talking consoles here.[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]
Simplistic controls made for kids = best FPS of all time? Autoaim means quality? Stupidly large hitboxes and blast radius are good? No recoil, no bullet spread, and laser bullets means better controls?
Realistic controls? So much wrong it should be bannable. If you want realism, play a real man's game.
60FPS > graphics? Why can't we have both?
Omega-316
you cant have either on xbox...
Both Halo and COD are on par with controls on a console.Controls. period.
COD has mastered/perfected the controls of FPS. No other game comes close. The closest imo is Halo.
When i played Killzone or bad company i couldnt aim for ****. My cross hairs was all over the place. Even when the enemy is close to me i have a hard time shooting them. Now i know it takes time to get used to it but why waste time to get used to it when its obvious that the gameplay is broken? Now i know some of you are going to be like "well its because its realistic and takes skill herp derp". To that all i can do is laugh.
In real life its not hard to aim from point A to point B nice and fast. Im not going to have a problem with overcompensation. Im going to lock on you pretty quick and take you out.
In COD the controls are nice, sweet, tight and precise exactly how it would be in real life especially if you are a trained soldier for crying out loud. I feel like im drunk when i play killzone and bad company. Im just spraying all over the place and wrestling with my controller just to kill a guy rite in front of my face.
COD has the most realistic controls. And people keep on buying them because of its perfection. SW's complains about rehash...well, when something is perfected....you cant do much to improve it can you? If you want improvments wait for COD 9 when it comes out on PS4 and xbox 720. The only improvements with be the amazing graphics while maintaining 60fps......but for now...60fps>>>>graphics. so stop crying.

Thats your fault, you just suck at the game. Just because a game has a heavier feel, it does not mean its broken.

What are you talking about? :? The Canadian Forces are accepting applications right now for positions including Infantry Soldier, Infantry Officer, and Engineering Officer.
Anyways, getting back to the topic and ignoring the whole real life special forces = CoD BO MP Veteran AI thing (I recommend all of you to try it solo)...

I won't deny that CoD has highly responsive controls and removes or severely underexaggerates elements elements like aim sway even while moving, ballistics, and recoil. That makes it more accessible. Considering the average engagement distance of CoD's arenas is small, they wouldn't be factors anyways. However, the greater the engagement distance becomes, the more the game enters BS territory without thiese factors. For a game like Battlefield where you may be forced to move out in the open, being picked off by an SMG user in the dark from across the map would be total BS which is why these elements were added.
Battlefield = Totally not broken.
Too bad every shooter/game in general has customizable controls on PC. CoD is only popular to the point that it's at right now because of marketing and the fact that its very mainstream. It is casual friendly. When you die so fast, you don't need skill to continue follow you target, you just see a distracted player and hit them 2-3 times and you win. Also, the crazy number of unlocks, killstreaks, and whatnot really gives people that since of satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment.
I remember seeing a video on youtube or something where a weapons expert ran around a battlefield, aimed at things, shot his gun, jumped over cover and did all the stuff you would do in a COD game with and without body armor on.
The demonstration showed that actual combat is NOTHING like the controls in that game

well I dont know about you, but I never had trouble aiming in BC. perhaps is the console version thats broken...'cause in pc is actually very easy. oh and aiming in real life is 100000x times harder than doing it in a game...so actually the most realistic ones are killzone, and according to you, bf. have you at least fired a gun?
I dont even get why people complain about KZ controllers...you can just go to options, scheme b is exactly cod control scheme.Too bad every shooter/game in general has customizable controls on PC. im talking about aiming from point A to point B. it should be smove and fast. not jiggling all over the place. and yes movments in COD isnt realist but to be fair the characters you play as arnt wearing 30 kilos of gear. the protective gear (which is heavy as hell, dont know if you have actually worn one) the weapons, you carry 2 weapons, each is around 4 kilos, not counting the ******** ammo you carry, plus the grenades, supplies...the amount of weight cod characters carry IS about 30 kilos, which is really standard for special forces. and not even special forces aim that fast, in real life the iron sights dont allign automatically...please dont post anymore until you try firing an actual automatic gun at a firing range[QUOTE="Wasdie"]
"In COD the controls are nice, sweet, tight and precise exactly how it would be in real life especially if you are a trained soldier for crying out loud."
I guess you've never held a real rifle. Even at 4-5 lbs you can't move nearly as quickly as you think. Thrown on 30 kilos of gear and then try to move like a CoD character. It's unpossible.

[QUOTE="Omega-316"]if i can aim and shoot better in real life then why must i have trouble in a game? COD is closer to real life then any other game when it comes to aim and shoot. just go to the fire range and shoot a real gun. develope some skill and you will know why aiming should be hard to do in games
Omega-316
Why do you think you can aim and shoot better in real life? You've obviously never held a gun if you think that's true.
my aiming isnt perfect i know that. im saying i can aim and move my gun around from target to target smoothly and fast. and when you play as special forces in a game they should be able to lock on targets fast even firing a small gun like a m9 wont be as fast as you'd expect it to be...and thats on a firing range...now imagine on an actual battlefield with combat stress.Couldn't have said it better myself, in fact i don't think i could have even matched this ^Simplistic controls made for kids = best FPS of all time? Autoaim means quality? Stupidly large hitboxes and blast radius are good? No recoil, no bullet spread, and laser bullets means better controls?

TC strangely missing...
KZ3 has extremely Fluid controls I don't see what you mean, CoD is extremely unrealistic and easy (for all the 12 year olds to play it)
I haven't had REAL military experience but I have volunteered and after your kitted out with Plate carrier, elbow guards, knee guard, AK47, 2 mags, pack, bottle, your carrying well over 30Kg and its quite hard to react quickly (me being a noob) and running with all this is a art form !
CoD is the worst representation i've ever had the misfortune to play (gave me a YLOD as well!)
KZ3, BF, etc aren't perfect either but there kinda close, KZ3 is too 'sticky' sometimes but CoD? YUCK!
The controls are good. But the reason it's so popular is because it it very accessible too many people.

ummm...just when i play paintball my vest weighs around 20-30lbs...and my gun is a solid 8-10lbs...woodsball i know...now lets look at military stuff...m16 ~10lbs...kevlar vest with ceramic plates in front and back ~30lbs...then add onto that ammo, food, water, and the rest of ur kit(not gonna try to roughly estimate that weight) ur at least carrying 50-60 lbs of equipment...and thats just a standard rifleman...do i need to talk about a saw gunner? whos gun alone is ~20lbs...not to mention the boxes of ammo he has to carry to be effective in combat on top of the ~30lbs armor...can u say 100+lbs of equipment...yes these guys are wearing ~30kilos of gear(66lbs)
and on top of that shooting a rifle at a moving target isnt the easiest...not to mention in combat where ur shaking cause of adrenaline and ur thinking about 100 other things that are goin on...and u want to talk about accuracy...from shooting one of these rifles...just with single fire...the minimum requirements to qualify is 23 of 40 rounds on stationary targets...thats roughly 50% accuracy and thats with semi auto on stationary targets...now move to full auto on moving targets...ur talking about even less accuracy...

That is the core of it all. Its as clear as day. Casual and Set in Modern day when US and UK are going through their "LOL LETS KILL TERRORISTS IN IRAQYSTAN." .... timing, and ease. Ofcourse the campaign being like a movie helps too, I liked the campaigns... but MP is the core.Sounds like you prefer call of duty cause it's alot easier to play:roll:

COD is comfortably one of the most unrealistic games on the market in terms of shooting. That doesn't mean it isn't fun, just that it is unrealistic.
If you want realism play Arma 2, I think that would frustrate you far more than Killzone or BC, both of which to me have extremely simple and easy shooting mechanics.
As for reigning supreme, it depends on how you judge that. If you are talking about numbers sold, then yes it does. However I expect McDonalds sells more £5 meals than a nice steak and some potatos costing £5 would. Personally I'm a steak man.
That is one of the most fail OPs I've ever read. Auto-aim arcade is nothing like reality. How old are you TC?
Well, TC, since you've clearly never fired a weapon in your life, allow me to clear something up for you: Call of Duty is not realistic in any way, shape, or form.
If you're playing on a console, I see this as a problem. But Bad Company 2 controlled so well with a mouse and keyboard on PC, it was insane. BF3 controls amazingly also.
CoD is crap anyway, why would you want to have perfect aiming in a crap game?
