Look at the Pm I sent you.

turtlethetaffer

Why can't you write it here? And MKW isn't that good. It's only acceptable for the Wii console, but is heavily beaten by both GT5 and the Forza series in terms of longevity and driving quality.

Right that's why people still play MKW, right?

Um? We don't know that.

Controls. period.

COD has mastered/perfected the controls of FPS. No other game comes close. The closest imo is Halo.

When i played Killzone or bad company i couldnt aim for ****. My cross hairs was all over the place. Even when the enemy is close to me i have a hard time shooting them. Now i know it takes time to get used to it but why waste time to get used to it when its obvious that the gameplay is broken? Now i know some of you are going to be like "well its because its realistic and takes skill herp derp". To that all i can do is laugh.

In real life its not hard to aim from point A to point B nice and fast. Im not going to have a problem with overcompensation. Im going to lock on you pretty quick and take you out.

In COD the controls are nice, sweet, tight and precise exactly how it would be in real life especially if you are a trained soldier for crying out loud. I feel like im drunk when i play killzone and bad company. Im just spraying all over the place and wrestling with my controller just to kill a guy rite in front of my face.

COD has the most realistic controls. And people keep on buying them because of its perfection. SW's complains about rehash...well, when something is perfected....you cant do much to improve it can you? If you want improvments wait for COD 9 when it comes out on PS4 and xbox 720. The only improvements with be the amazing graphics while maintaining 60fps......but for now...60fps>>>>graphics. so stop crying.

Discuss...

Maybe if you didnt rely on autoaim youd actually be good.

Yet, very few compared to any shooter on the HD consoles.

Do we have the official online numbers for MKWii to compare to those games Shred3D?

Why are you changing the subject? You asked for games with good online and longevity, Super gave it to you and hear you go changing the subject.

On topic, I'd say CoD and MKW have about equally annoying MP. As in there are fun parts but damn it can be frustrating.

You can't compare these two games online communities without official MKWii online userstats.

Nope, we can't. And this discussion is closed, until you can give information from Nintendo, how MKWii beats 7 million gamers online each 24 hours.

OK, look at it from this angle:

compare;

how many games or developers did SMG inspire, and how many did CoD4?

SMG certainly isn't as important as CoD4, not even close. Imagine SMG never existed... Big difference? I don't think so. Few kids really love SMG.

But now...

imagine CoD4 never existed. The face of FPS today would have been entirely different.

DangerousLiquid

CoD4 took its features from Battlefield 2 .... except kill streaks. which are inferior to actual vehicles. Especially BF3's ;)

Apart from derailing from the subject, you couldn't be more wrong. :)

So. COD4 had level up, unlocks, ranks, rewards. Just like BF2 did, and BF2 is 1 year older. cod was not inspiring, because it was already inspired, when you say "all devs copy cod4" you are actually saying all devs copy the BF series which heavily influenced COD. btw, the old medal of honor games, they were developed by most of the current dice members, and, guess who else...yes, infinity ward, infinity ward used to work for EA before calling themselves IW, they made MOH allied assault which was considered as one of the best, in conjuction with DICE.

And that turned out to be all the CoD games combined.

Yeah, that's actually true. But Black Ops is by far the most actively played, across all systems, maybe 3 million daily. I woulnd't say anything different.

I just finished playing a few rounds of Black Ops. If this is the best that first person shooters have to offer, then I'm afraid that the genre is plummeting and is not what it used to be. Gladly, that's not the case because it's actually blooming with great games like Battlefield 3 and RAGE. There are a lot of people, Battlefield 3 supporters even, who say that Battlefield is a pheonix, and is trying to take FPS king crown back from Call of Duty. That's wrong. Call of Duty never held the crown in the first place, one good game (CoD 4) doesn't suddenly make CoD the best there is to offer. No Call of Duty game will ever reach what Battlefield 2 has accomplished in terms of design, gameplay, and fan support. The only reason CoD is doing good is because of advertising, and the pick-up-and-play gameplay. If CoD was the best FPS, I would have quit playing FPS' a long time ago.

Let me just put this like this:

Black Ops is in all likelihood more actively played than all the Wii games online combined. That's imposing, if anything.

I'm trying to think back when this becam a discussion about what's played more... I mean, I thought we were talking about online Wii games.

Also, judging by the amount of units Wii sold, I'd say you are dead wrong. I just played Smash Bros today.

Black Ops attracts 17 million unique users on PS3, 360 and PS3 each week.

If you honestly think any game in the world (like the big ones; CS, WoW, SC) comes close, let alone some unpopular games on the Wii, then;

you're simply trolling,

Well, apart from the AAA scores flying in from all kind of critics, we have the community who loves CoD and the simple yet ambigious gameplay.

The problem is he's comparing a game released across 5 platforms vs. a game that is only on 1. And yet, Mario Kart still reigns supreme.

Posted nine months ago. Too bad that wasn't the case with Call of Duty 4 or MW2. ;)

Call of Duty 4 revolutionized the gaming industry, and is nowadays recognized by many gaming publications as one of the most important games in recent history. MW2 turned COD into a global phenomenon, and those "review events" have nothing to do with it.

So you can't say this about Modern Warfare 3. ;)

Also, how ironic that this was about Black Ops, which is by far the most balanced and best CoD since CoD2.

I read somewhere that well above 2 million wii users have access to the Wii's online. Can you please find another reason to prove the COD's franhise superiority besides using the sales arguement?

The problem is he's comparing a game released across 5 platforms vs. a game that is only on 1. And yet, Mario Kart still reigns supreme.

Black Ops rough sales figureshttp://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=black+ops&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total

Mario Kart Wiihttp://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=mario+kart+wii&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total

1. VGChartz.

2. It's all fair, if you think about it, the combined sales of PS3 and 360 add up to the sales of Wii.

Take away PC, DS and Wii versions, and you take away, 1-2 million in sales.

Well, apart from the AAA scores flying in from all kind of critics, we have the community who loves CoD and the simple yet ambigious gameplay.

DangerousLiquid

Yay!The sad thing is that these AAA scores are not telling the truth about the franchise in it's current state.

The reason I'm showing you that is that Activsion could have been using that for the other insanely popular COD games too, but the review sites were to scared to actually report about that event.

This question is as stupid as asking:

in what way is Halo 1/WoW/Half-Life/Zelda/GTA3/Doom important.

Should simply be ignored.

No, the headline is clearly Black Ops. You can't spin it around, making the MW series look foolish.

Of this generation? Without question. Any serious gaming publication would agree with that.

Well it certainly seemed to kick the "modern military online shooter" genre into overdrive.

None of those games are important. At least not anymore. In order for them to be "important", every other game would need to somehow rely on them.

It certainly is the finest military game ever created in the history of FPS games. Call of Duty defines gaming nowadays. It used to be good old Mario, now times have changed.

Good old mario still has the power to obliterate the COD franchise according to this.

The rivalry doesn't exist in the platforming genre. Period.

Then what's up with all the reviews saying that SMG2 raised the platforming genre's standards to extreme heights.

Because they were extremely low before. When you say platforming, there is only Mario. Oh, and LBP.

The rivalry in the biggest genre of the world, FPS, is gigantic. CoD faces competition from every angle. BF, Crysis, KZ, BioShock, Resistance, FEAR, Halo, CS etc...
