Game scores are a very subjective issue. One guy might give VF5 a perfect 10, and another could give it a 7. I’ve seen several reviews that rated VF5 higher than DOA4 -- a lot of reviews gave it a 9.5 or 10. While some people might rate it a point or two differently, all the scores I've seen so far have been reasonably good.
Lack of features, modes, and replay value. Still a good fighting game. But Doa is ever growing and is getting a lot of publicity lately due to www.Doacentral.com You'd be suprised on how much a healthy online community can help a game.Lack of replay value? It's a friggin fighting game, that's what it does!

[QUOTE="D00nut"][QUOTE="LUI360"][QUOTE="D00nut"]Because GS is teh biased!LUI360VF5 is also coming out for 360. Did you know that? And they will give the 360 version an uber score because they are biased! But they are the exact same game. Nuh uh, 360 version is so much better because GS says so! (PS, they're biased)
Games score lower because they are not as good.
So here is your answer:
DOA4 is an overall better game then VF5.
I thought VF5 was better at every aspects compare to DOA4?hhoan004
My Guess is the lack of Online Support...the death of any fighting game....I would rate it like this..*No Online Support___Your score starts at -5.0.
From what I can understand, they made it a little too approachable = dumbed down the A.I. It also lacked online play and those detailed tutorials found in VF4: Evo. However it still retains the solid, balanced gameplay system.
Lack of online would be my guess. It's too bad cause Tekken: DR is going to outscore both VF5 and DOA4. Quote me all you like!chrismunxDoes Tekken:DR have online? When does it comes out?

Exactly. It probably should have gotten even lower IMO.
people don't understand the effect of time. If DOA4 was released today, it might score lower than VF5, but since it was a year ago, it was better than everything out then. Goten_king
Actually, DOA4 and VF5Â Â released relativity the same time after their system launched.

No, it does not have online gameplay. But if you look at GS's history of scoring Tekken, it's an almost gaurentee AAA game. I'm also a big Tekken player so the game to me is automatic AAA.Â
It has no online play! Cmon! Its 2007, there is no excuse for that.deadesaI always consider online for fighters a nice touch but fighters are really to me beat the crap out of you real friends' asses.

Those aren't reasons to give good scores to a game. I doubt either Tekken 5:DR or Tekken 6 will score above 8.1 on GS, and that's being generous.I thought VF5 was better at every aspects compare to DOA4?hhoan004Well, take a few things into consideration. DOA4 game out over a year ago and was released on the 360 at a time when the the 360 was new and had no real great games yet. Ratings are often based on what else is out at the time. DOA4 was quite a bit of a leap above any other fighters out at the time, so it got lots of extra points on visuals. Gamespot has always said that they rate games vs the hardware that they are on. If they feel a game can do more on the console its released on, then it gets dinged. Case in point, VF5 has no online. Major points lost. It would easily have been in the 9's had online been part of the package. Kind of stupid it didn't. Virtua Fighter has always been a superior series, until now. Online play adds an awful lot to DOA4's longevity.

Those were in quaint times when low level production values were marvelled at. Things have gone up quite a few notches since then. I mean if you just look at DOA4 it's like 10 times as impressive as VF5. Now look at Tekken 6. It's stuggling to be a DOA while at the same time it's trying to be different. It doesn't make it IMO and I'm just an observer. Professional reviewers are not going to score Tekken well if they want to be taken seriously afterwards. Its all in who reviews it, heres an example:The only thing I use is my eyes. IMO DOA is unmatched.
EGM: DOA4 6.67, VF5 9.7 - A three point difference in favor of VF5
GS: DOA4 8.8, VF5 8.1 - .7 in favor of DOA4
You might wonder how two (actually 4) reviews can be completely different but thats how it is these days. Its exactly why one guys review really shouldnt be trusted. Gamerankings should be what eveybody uses.

Whatever. IMO the only people who can do something about DOA's domination is Capcom.DOA has never been a dominating fighting game. The only thing that saves it is online. Shall I throw another example? Tekken 5 vs DOAU. Both in their same respectable time. And who won here in GS? Hrm. Gee. I wonder.
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Hey.. it's logic!Games score lower because they are not as good.
So here is your answer:

DOA4 is an overall better game then VF5.
I think it was because overall, for the general gamer, DOA4 is slightly better. Even though DOA4 is crap compared to VF5 for most serious fighter games' fan. Or it could be because gamespot's rating system is flawed and doesn't consider the fact that maybe VF5 (and F1) is supposed to be geared toward serious fighter (and F1) fans :D
Edit: BTW, VF5's game ranking was an 8.8 and DOA4 was an 8.6 :? go figure...
You need to throw like with like. Tekken is a PS2 title. That alone relegates it to a lesser product on account of the limitations of that system. You can't compare scores between different systems. DOAU drubs all versions of Tekken without breaking a sweat and this is simply because of superior hardware.Whatever. IMO the only people who can do something about DOA's domination is Capcom. chrismunx

DOA is dominating BTW. VF5's performance attests to that. I hear they're even going to re-release DOA4 as a platinum release.
IMO only Capcom have the potential to unseat DOA now.
