Why do console gamers talk about graphics so much?

It could have been 1080p or higher if it was exclusive to PS4 or PC. Exclusive to xbox one would still be what it is now yes.

Too bad Lems are trying to convince us otherwise. Also, they using words like naive 1080p to describe this game.

Well when you have hyped games on Xbone coming out at 720p some real feelings are hurt.

That being said it's a bit unfair to call xbone QB a true 720p as it renders more than your standard 720p game, the less action there is the better the quality looks thanks to the temporal reconstruction

cause most games now are trash and visuals are all they have going for them so when your game looks as bad as say Quantum Break, bad signs.

For me because there is an obvious limitation. Its fascinating to see how devs cope with this and how they push things. To be fair graphics are talked about every where consoles or not.

Because a lot of studios put a lot of effort into the art direction. A graphic isn't strictly resolution. There's much more to designing a good graphic. Shape, color theory, etc. Look at some iconic visuals and you will see they have stood the test of time.

You can talk about graphics and still play on consoles. There's nothing wrong with wanting good graphics on consoles... It's if people then turn around and say "Who cares if the graphics on PC are so good?"

Because people like to see strings of hair on fictional characters since they are obviously meant to look as real as possible and if these game developers don't do that then everyone will complain for the right reasons.

Graphics make everything about a game and I don't understand why some people are still fighting over this. I mean c'mon, it's 2016 people!

I honestly don't think I've seen a "X game has better graphics than Y game" thread, created by a PC gamer in long enough. In fact the vast majority are created by one certain delusional PS4 fan.

Resolution only ever counts where consoles are concerned. The moment 1440p or 4k is mentioned, resolution no longer matters.

That doesn't change the fact that graphics are brought up far more often by certain PS4 fans than anyone or any other faction on this board. Unfortunately an awful lot of PC fans (myself included) get sucked into those troll threads every time, even though most of us are well aware they are nothing but troll threads.

Its simple. We typically talk about graphics because when we first see trailers, that's what we see!! In cinematic reveal trailers, the graphics are ramped up to an absurd level that the game probably wont look like. We go months before seeing any gameplay or mechanics, or story. Graphics is the first thing we see, so we are biased sometimes.........

The same reason men with small "equipment" obsess over equipment size.

It's funny watching Sony Cultists argue over resolution and when several of their demanding titles are either 900p or only 30 fps (with dips). Just pathetic, while PC destroys both in the only thing they argue about these days.

But when they both have huge game droughts it's all they can really talk about, no matter how weak both systems are.

Because no game natively 1440p or beyond. They are up scaled on PC. 1080p is still the standard... or should be in Xbox's case. You won't see 1440p+ native resolution until consoles catch up since AAA developments funded by the console market.

I'm not blind to the benefits, i played eve online for 7 years straight, my day job is a Network Engineer for Cisco. Believe me i know the benefits, just the benefits are getting smaller and smaller every year and since i made the gaming which to console (a year before the PS4 came out) it gotten even smaller. No you can't use your xbox 360 pad on a PS4, that would be silly. you wouldn't expect a renault turbo to work in a jag. They are two competing companies, in the same way you cannot use your 360 pad on a Mac (without third party support as MS officially says no). As for games you can use a keyboard and mouse on? okay Dust 514, MAG and BF1943 on last gen that i know of for certain, Planetside 2, Blacklight retribution, Warframe (not FPS but defo a shooter) and a few others. but why would you want to do this on console?. I understand the accuracy boost but i play games for fun, not to be hunched over a keyboard and mouse for hours, i've had my time with that. its a redundant question to be honest.

Superior as you dont have to go fetch your old console from storage(if you still happpen to have it), Ps4 bc? lol, Xbone one at least has some but most games run worse than they did on 360, this is not an issue on PC

Yeah i'll grant you this one. It was not always the case though so its unfair to label the entire console industry has having inferior BC when consoles gone by have had just as good a BC as PC has had. Only difference is PC is a constantly evolving platform, consoles are fixed to their generations for the most part. BC is much easier on PC so for it to be superior is kind of expected is it not? just part of the course.

As i said previously i am not blind to the benefits of an open platform, Sony missed a trick with the PS4, as its running on FreeBSD which could created an amazing open platform. However I can see why (as a company) Sony closed it up. It makes perfect business sense. The PS4 is a complete product and is sold as such (PC's are not, they are always an amalgamation of different techs from different companies, so by nature it must be open) I'd love to see Sony open up the PS5 fully, but it wont happen due to IPs and Patents held by Sony. Can you blame then? know the PC industry is forced into being open, its not by choice. I mean look at a company that does create desktop computers all by them self, Apple.... they are not open are they?

To me, for gaming these days, the benefits of console far outway PC. But it all depends on what you are after. As you have seen i can put counter points to all your points and you can also do the same... both are "superior" in different ways yet both are the same in many others.

Of course, PC will always have a higher level of graphical fidelity, but consoles will also have a higher level of ease of use (for the average jo, not people in the know i agree) lower entry cost which allows you to play game at (lets face it) marginally less graphical beauty in most cases. Point being there are good and bad in both fella :)

Honestly didn't even remember the free online, but yes it is a small benefit but obviously not a huge one, I pay for psn and I just play exclusives + nhl on my ps4
