Why do consolites hate PCs when next gen platforms ARE PCs?

You always hear console gamers around here b!tching about PCs and trying to play them down saying they're doomed or dying, but then someone like Mark Rein comes along and says the PS4 is essentially a PC :? Shouldn't all you consolites hate the thought of your precious consoles becoming more like the dreaded dying platform that is PC? 

The Consolites shouldn't hate PCs cause then they wouldn't be on this site to begin with. :P

Why does windows suck exactly? And the second half of your post would have far more weight and meaning if all PCs were all DD only and consoles were retail only. 

since the days of the atari 2600 the consoles are pc, they have cpu, ram, os, etc

Have you seen windows 8? Its a mess! why would they make a tablet os for a desktop? Vista was awful it did not work with older hardware including these people really need like printers and it was slow. Win 7 was just vista light with a new task bar but it did do a better job at being a usable os.  I am sure winpc fanboys will makes excuses as to why this is okay but its my opinion.

You know that openness that PC gamers say they love about their platform? What makes you think that a system that uses variants of PC hardware but is built from the ground up on the same design philosophies that have been the foundations of the consoles we already enjoy is going to be anything other than a console? The entire ecosystem - hardware, software, content, and services - is more important than where they get the chips from. Yeah, cows were always the most rabid SW bunch from my experience, and moments like this when a bunch of fanboys is throwing around technical terms without any knowledge about it results in a lot of laughs!

Hasn't been doing well enough to become appealing as a primary OS for a gamer, though. Since a very good part of my PC usage is about gaming, can't say Linux has much of an appeal, also, to mindlessly bash Microsoft OS' is pretty foolish.

If I could do some serious gaming on it, I'd definitely consider Linux, but I don't see it happening anytime soon, despite some of the Valve's efforts to make it a more viable gaming platform.
