HTPC cases aren't all that ugly, and some are sized and look very similar to a typical receiver.

because console games are disgusting and I can't even play them anymore. The only 2 decent companies in gaming are Valve and Blizzard and both are PC companies.

You're questioning why someone would say that games are more enjoyable on the PC, and then stating that you find them more enjoyable on your couch?

Why would it confuse you if you yourself share the same thought, but for a different playstyle?

I feel detached when sitting so far away from the TV, I quickly lose interest in my console games, but I do try not to.

This is my biggest problem with consoles. They are simply not immersive enough when sitting more than a couple feet away.

I see a lot of fervent PC gamers on a board like this as being either really young or noobs. After generation after generation of games evolving it's amusing to see people falling over visuals. Especially since PC games have become so consolized. I remember a long time ago, over a decade ago, when I thought I was cool for discovering the joy of a PC versus a console. Size isn't an indication of power with regards to GPU's. As an example, a 560ti is far more powerful than a GTX260, and yet much more compact.

It's a very different experience my friend.

Try it and you'll be wanting more.

I tried Pc gaming when oblivion came out and found it to be extremely boring and lonely sitting on my computer playing that game. I did enjoy playing Guild Wars with my friend though. PC's are just good for MMO's and shooters I guess everything else is just poo poo.

Odd. I wouldn't be able to say that unless I saw the specific layouts for each case, as layouts are all typically different (i.e. where the HDD's fit).

You seem to know a lot about hundreds of different cases. There are cases specifically designed to meet ATX, rather than the significantly smaller mATX.

Even the 7970 is only 10.5 inches long :?

I started PC gaming 3 years ago. The first game I played was Half-Life. I gamed on my 7 year old standard dell. I put 40 hours into Half-Life before I even touched anything else. Over the years I have been expansing my library, and 2 years ago I got a new PC. Last week I played through Half-Life again. I play a ton of indie games and am not bothered by graphics. It's not that hermits like me only game on PC for graphics, we play on them for choices. Being able to play any game made for the PC ever, mods, and yes better graphics. The graphics are not a deal maker, they are just a plus.

PS: I agree with you, 50% of gaming should be PC, but sadly it isn't.

I think it's worth owning both a PC and a console.

Most console owners have a PC for at least work.

But alot of hermits don't have the same courtesy or fair minded attitude, they think everything on console sucks and only PC (and only Windows, they hate Mac and Linux.)

I don't think that is true. For me, I also have a PS3 and a Wii, but if you browse through the PC Games forum, there are plenty of discussions on what consoles people have and what games they enjoy on their consoles. Yes, most of us only keep our consoles around for the exclusives, but we still have those consoles.

A console gamer having a PC around for work... well duh, even non-gamers have a PC. So how many console gamers actually have a decent gaming PC for PC exclusives? I'm sure the percent is higher for hermits that own a console than the percent for console gamers that own a gaming PC.

We all generalize things on these forums (like that statement I just made), but that is one of the many things that makes SWs so fun.

And hes right, some people do find big monitors more immsersive/fun and they do offer far more detail. They offer more effective FOV than big TVs.

Its completely opinion based, and we have no real criteria for judging it (unlike review scores or gfx)

I've played on the PC and it is a great experience, but now I'm trying to back off and go to console gaming.

Edit: Trust me, I like the PC, probably more than I like the consoles but PC Gaming is unhealthy to me, I get too addicted, but still I enjoy games on console, not as much but I do.
