[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]Why does tjricardo089 say that games are only enjoyable on consoles?dream431ca
You're putting words in my mouth, I said only that games felt better to ME on consoles, I didn't said that everyone should play on the console to feel good.
I've played on the PC and it is a great experience, but now I'm trying to back off and go to console gaming.
Edit: Trust me, I like the PC, probably more than I like the consoles but PC Gaming is unhealthy to me, I get too addicted, but still I enjoy games on console, not as much but I do.
To me, console gaming is more relaxing than PC gaming. When I game on PC, I get really engaged. When I play my PS3, I don't feel the same way, and I don't know why that is, but I enjoy both things.
actually this is pretty funny...whenever i play a game on ps3 i end up gettin distracted by facebook on my laptop and end up on funnyjunk or start watchin anime...then all the sudden its hours later and my ps3 is still on the pause screen and im like...what was i playing...oh well turn it off lolz
honestly for me the biggest reasons i like pc game is the fact that i can alt+tab, i can use skype or vent...with higher quality headphones, i like my mouse and keyboard, and cause im too cheap to go buy a led tv with better contrast so i can see the darker areas of the games cause i hardly ever use the tv anyway lolz.
Ok I can respect that.
Here's my chain of reasoning.
1. I realize I want to play a few games available ONLY on a console
2. Ok now I own this device, I have to get some use out of it.
3. Oh look, Gamefly, rent all you want for $255 a year
4. I've never been a graphics whore, games on every platform look good to me, I typically get low end graphics cards anyway.
5. I can either buy this game for $60 off Steam, or rent it, or get it used off ebay, oh look someone's selling it for $20. Most of the time tho it's a 2 day rental. Finish campaign in 6 hours, stuff it in the envelope, play the next one.
6. Sure I can get alot of deals off Steam. $11 for Deus Ex HR. But I'm only gonna play the damn thing once, and I already freakin rented it and played it.
7. I'm not paying $40 to play Tropico. I'm just not. Ok. Rent it, play it, send it back. No pain. No remorse.
Anyway these are the reasons I got into console gaming.
ZombieKiller7
Well this sounds like a typical console gamer. I don't mean to offend because that's exactly what console gaming is about.. rent, play, beat, return, rinse & repeat. That's fine with me. But your typical PC gamer doesn't do this. What I've always done is play one or two games per year because.. you know they used to actually make games last for nearly a decade. The online community usually lasts much longer on PC, between servers mods, maps, and overall intense gameplay clans etc. Now it's not quite as much but it certainly used to be. I still don't play "game of the month" and that's probably the reason I got out of consoles almost as fast as I dove in. It just wasn't for me. Paying $40 for a PC game means it's going to last me a very long time. With DX11 patches for instance I can pull out old games now. So reasons like this I prefer PC.
I have something against gaming EXCLUSIVELY on a PC and adding extra work and expense to my life for no reason at all.
ZombieKiller7
But it doesn't add extra work or expense. I know you read my post and acknowledged me. I find PC gamer actually cheaper in the long run.. and since I'm a gamer through and through I will look for the best long term solution. If by work you mean updating drivers, patches, viruses, etc then that's really a thing of the past. Like I said I built my rig in '06 and I've yet to reformat my harddrive. Wheras I used to do it every 4-6 months nowdays they just don't crash and more efficient. I don't surf pron so no viruses for me. I don't know what else to say. Enjoy the rents?
It is actually very obvious that if anything is going to go the way of the dodo is consoles. Not only has it been obvious but quite a few game industry
heads have also started to agree that PC gaming will out live console gaming.
Stream_Beta
Obvious is obvious.
Because 9/10 anytime you see someone on a pc they are in a chair at a desk. Thats prob why...
VanDammFan
Another stereotype. This is 2012 the age of tablets and phones doubling as laptops do you see them sitting in a chair? Most often someone gaming on a laptop is relaxed on a couch or has it on the coffee table kicked back. The same goes for desktops now you see more hutches/desks that extend and make things so much easier and more comfortable. Since the world revolves around a computer now it's obvious that in time they will make more comfortable setups then even your living room with big screen.
Meh, I play more classic games then new games anyway. Someone acting superior is born of an inferiority complex: see many PC gamers for details.Kiyobear
Classics are always good to pick up and play, and I've been gaming a long time (actually stood in line for the NES launch). It doesn't refute the fact that PC gaming is superior on all accounts minus the few exclusives (which will dwindle down even less next gen). Who says veteran PC gamers didn't count pixels 20 years ago? How would you know without message boards like Gamespot.com?
This is my biggest problem with consoles. They are simply not immersive enough when sitting more than a couple feet away. I always end up pulling a chair to within a few feet of my 19 inch TV rather than sitting 6 feet away from the 55 inch.
hoola
I believe that's why I was more interested and IMMERSED during the NES/GEN era than ever due to small tvs. I gamed on a 19" (which was a nice size at the time) with my NES and Genesis and I had to scoot up to the tv. I remember sitting indian style in the living room like 2-3 ft from the tv so as to be able to see it. But that gave me total immersion factor with Mario.
But now with these big screens (I have a 50" Pioneer Kuro) I just can't get into consoles. Don't get me wrong the Pioneer is a beast of a flat panel and games don't look bad on them by any means but I need to sit back a bit. PC gaming is just like console gaming 2 decades ago sitting in front of a small screen seeing no flaws. Yeah even your 8-bit console looked good on such a small screen outputing 480i. This is why I'm so hellbent on consoles doing a minimum 1920X1080 4-8AA next gen otherwise I'll pass. Maybe then I can find my self re-immersed in front of a closed box system.
PC Gamers aren't limited to desktop PCs. Earlier in campus, I saw a lot of students gaming on laptops in the cafeteria and student lounges during their free time. There were the casuals, of course. But, there were also quite a few playing core games.
- causes RMSI(repetitive muscle-strain injury) & carpel tunnel due to unergenomic controllers
ionusX
Really don't care about anything else you said, but this is wrong.
KB/M cause far more injuries than gamepads.
Fact.
I'm not saying that makes gamepads overall better, but I'm just sayin'. One of the main causes of carpel tunnel is the fact that the position that your hands are in while using KB/M is unnatural (as in, both your hands are facing downwardtowards the m/kb, when in fact your natural position is the hands facing eachother at a slight angle).
Just a fact.
THAT'S ALL I'M SAYIN'.
Don't go all "NO UR DUMB".
I'm just helping your argument by eliminating a discrepancy. I'm cool like that.
I felt that way playing HL2 on Orange Box, bought it on 360 for Portal since my PC was anemic at the time. Only played Portal on it.some games are more enjoyable on the pc...i cant imagine playing starcraft 2 on nothing but a pc

Keep in mind, I could honestly care less about what people play, how they play it or anything of the sort...So dont take what im fixing to say as HERMITHATE..BUT I can walk into 500 homes and out of 500 homes there "MIGHT" be 1 person playing pc on the couch,chilling..and thats a might big "MIGHT"..So in the real world, almost all people on pcs are at a desk,on m/k..and uncomfortable..
Again, I dont care...heck , thats where I am right now..

He's actually right. Most desktops are going to be on a fairly standard desk. There are multiple reasons for this, such as the fact that other members of one's household don't want you on the ****ing TV while you're on your PC paying taxes/gaming/etc all the time, or if you use your PC for work/school you don't necessarily want your PC to be in one of the highest traffic areas of the apt/house.
Or you'd like to watch teh pronz.
There are all sorts of reasons the vast majority of PC's are still primarily in their traditional place--the main reason probably being one of the PC gamer's favorite arguments: it doesn't simply just game, it does everything, and that's not necessarily conducive to taking up a family's (or roommate's) living room.
And I highly doubt they're going to come up with a desk set up that's more comfortable than a livingroom and big screen, tbh. The logistics just don't work that well.
Also, using tablets and phones as a legit example of PC gaming is a bit uh... you know... I don't know how to say this... but those are more like... DUN DUN DUNNNNN! consoles.

Isn't it just the best?

i should do this...i used to but my monitor died(i love my puppy...but her and them power chords) its sooo expensive to get a good hdtv where everything looks good and u have good enough contrast to see in darker parts of the games compared to a ~200usd monitor at the same res...tho not as big

I also think that HDtvs have more lag than my monitors specially my plasma Monitors give an advantage in fps for example. Being closer to the screen means you can see small things better so sniping is much easier. Please Log In to post.
