I keep hearing about people buying another xbox 360s after they got the red ring? why the hell would you do that?

right now, my xbox is with M$ for repairs, and i just find it strange that players would shell out more money for another xbox 360 after M$ just scam them out of $200-$400. I already paid for my xbox 360 and it broke not because of me, but because Microsoft screwed up. It is not my fault and i refuse to take responsiblities and let my pockets suffer for M$'s mistakes. Either M$ give me a working console or they would never receive another penny for me. As of right now, i dont have a gaming console, and the thought of buying a ps3(cause of the price and the fact the xbox 360 is my pefer console) never cross my mind untill after my 360 crapped out on me. I need a gaming console and for dayum sure i would not purchase another 360. if I spill water on my 360, if it was my fault that my system broke, then i would not mind replacing it. if Am im the only with this kind of mind set? You don't get hair in your food and go back to that restauraunt later so why would are players buying new x360? that is beyond me. i refuse to be jerk around.

Why would they buy another one? It gets replaced for free.

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but who would buy another 360 if they could get their RROD'd one repaired for free?

I guess to have an extra incase one dies.

But yea because it's a good system TC, some people are willing to deal with the RROD stuff because there's a lot of great games on it, or they like Live, 360's exclusives or even the controller.

PS3 is reliable but it's out of the price range for a lot of people, even if 360 isn't that much off, that 400 number still stares you in the face and scares you, Microsoft is good at hiding 360's extra (optional) charges.

It is very simple. Microsoft has a great warranty and they repair it for free. Plus it is the best console on the market for true console gamers so why would you want to change to anything else.

It' because they don't have the heart to go out and buy another console. Their conscience doesn't allow them to.

Your point? People kept buying ps2's when they broke. Didn't stop it from being a great system. Some people's warranties probably ran out and you might as well keep your HDD and get a new one instead of paying MS to repair and god knows how long that will take.

yes it is a good system. i have a lot of 360 games to know that but game console are not cheap and i just feel that we as consumer should not be punish for Microsoft's mistakes. The only reason I'm thinng about purchasing a ps3 because as of right now I have deep hatred for Microsoft and i do not want to support them after they just scam me out of $480(360 elite). Even though the ps3 line up doesn't really interest me much but i'm a gamer and i need a game console. and the wii just look silly to me so the ps3 is my only option left.

because the System is awesome in every imaginable way, games, Live, controller....etc. Just imagine this scenario which probably applies to many people. you have a 20GB 360 that RRODed and that it's not under the Microsoft warranty anymore. You go to the store to buy a new system, any system. You look at the PS3 - 400 Dollars, 360 is 200, you remember that you already have a HDD from your previous 360 and controllers and accessories and games...etc. The PS3 is twice the price of a 360, so what do you do? I would personally without a shadow of a doubt pick up another 360, heck I could get two 360's for the price of one PS3. People who have invested a lot of money into the 360 will easily buy another one.

thats another thing thats pissing me off. i sent my 360 7 weeks ago and I check the repair status online and it say that they haven't even begun the repair yet. I also hear stories about 360 getting red ring even after getting it repair. so getting your 360 repair might not be the end of the bull crap.

If you have the warranty then get it repaired. It doesn't matter how long you have to wait because this is the best option while the warranty is available. This is also where having a second console comes in handy. In my case, I have all 3 plus a gaming laptop that plays all the current games so I'm ok. If you don't have the warranty, I think MS charges like 100 something dollars to repair it. Might as well pony up the extra 100 for the arcade model and just put your HDD on it.

Free repair, and maybe some people don't even know about it. Hell, I had no idea what RRoD was before I started posting in system wars regularly.

Sadly, microsoft knows xbox fans won't convert. Even if 2% of their audience switch to the ps3, they'll end up missing their key franchises like gears, fable or halo. Most of all gamerpoints :P

I'm not surprised if microsoft looked up all the high gamerpoints folks and bricked their system to see if they'll buy a new one. That's easy money because these gamerpoints whores won't stop.

Lol, I sorta agree!. I mean, don't tell me those gamer points didn't make you play the game some more to get them! I have never played games so much just to get gamer points. I beat COD4 on veteran, and I've playing CODwaw in Veteran (even though it's freaking rediculous) just to get achievement points :)

Great games catalogue, cheaper than PS3. That's why I will but another one (voided my warranty, which means no free repair)

Well the replacement fee is free first of all, and if they do buy another one it might be because they have already invested alot of money on it for various things and don't want it to go to waste because of RROD. I know if I brought so many games for a single console and if it just died on me one day then of course it get it replace no matter what.

Well I wouldn't buy another one, but I guess if it's your only system it's easier and cheaper to buy a new 360 arcade than go for a ps3, wii or pc, especially when you can take use of all your old 360 accessories, games, live subscription and stuff, starting all over again with another system might not be very appealing.

Same can be said about the ps2 and its problems. Honestly though you are boycotting because you had bad luck with your system is a little childish. You are missing out on all the great games.

My launch 360 RRODed almost a year later. I sold it to my friend for $175, went out the next day and bought an Elite with the money my friend gave me so I paid about $300.00 after taxes for it. Considering at the time, the only hard drive choices were either the 20 gig (which I didn't like) or the 120, I'm happy with my purchase. If it goes out again(not for RROD obviously), I might buy an arcade and slap the hard drive on it since mine is now outside of the 1 year warranty. I think it is going to crap out soon though because I've been having issues with it not powering on so we'll see.

alot of Class Action Lawsuits have been filed against microsoft in States like California and Florida over this issue the settlements for these lawsuits are a little more than $2,000,000

RROD is not the only problem there's also the problem of disk scratching in the drive

microsoft from the beginning should have made sure there was no problem before it shipped it's system to stores, this is unforgivable or at least what they should do is make reliable products and distribute it to anyone that has gotten rrod a 3 year warranty is not good why give out a crappy system just to get one back that eventually will break again ?

i am not here talking as a fan boy the rrod was one of the reasons i haven't gotten all 3 systems.

yeah well, i didn't much care for the ps2 last gen either. had one for about 6 months and got rid of it. dre was part of the reason i waited so long to get one too. i like a reliable console. the original xbox was amazing enough to keep me happy and i never had problems with it. as far as missing out on great exclusives, i still get to play them through gamefly. and if i feel the need to buy one i'll pick it up used so they won't see that money. i also see nothing wrong with boycotting a console. it'd be flat out stupid to invest money into something that'll break every 6 months. you calling that childish is horribly inaccurate...

[QUOTE="tek91"]

alot of Class Action Lawsuits have been filed against microsoft in States like California and Florida over this issue the settlements for these lawsuits are a little more than $2,000,000

RROD is not the only problem there's also the problem of disk scratching in the drive

microsoft from the beginning should have made sure there was no problem before it shipped it's system to stores, this is unforgivable or at least what they should do is make reliable products and distribute it to anyone that has gotten rrod a 3 year warranty is not good why give out a crappy system just to get one back that eventually will break again ?

i am not here talking as a fan boy the rrod was one of the reasons i haven't gotten all 3 systems.

and see, most ppl fail to mention that thing scratches the hell outta your disks. i'm not talking moving it while its running either. i've had my copies of cod2 and 3 all but ruined by that pos...

Maybe because XBL is better than PSN and WiiConnect24 and maybe they like 360 better. Most people can get RRoD fixed for free...

Well so far the only way the RRoD had any impact on me in any way was when my brothers 30 got it. He had to share mines. Also my cousin got it and the next day he was able to keep his 20gb HDD and get a new 60 gb Pro 360 under Best Buy's Warranty. I don't think he was even upset that it happened to him after that. (He's a Sony fanboy mind you.)

The XBL is a matter of opinion, the issue I have is most people send it for repairs only to get back a system the eventually breaks on them that's uncalled for, Microsoft should make a console that is 100% reliable and distribute it to unfortunate consumers that have had their system breaks instead of shipping them another faulty system, they payed with their hard earned money to get that first 360 and what about the poor consumers that have had their disks scratched at no fault of their own ? people who buy the consoles and games should not have to experience this it is better to buy a reliable system the warranty is not good enough.

Microsoft dropped the ball.

[QUOTE="LoseEagles1245"]Why would they buy another one? It gets replaced for free.dthach614

theres been a lot incident where their warrant ran out and M$ refused to repair it for free. and yes there are player that keeping buying 360s. I remember reading about someone who is on their 3rd 360. wtf

well you get 3 year protection on rrod so peoples warranties will only be starting to run out now, and thats only if you bought one at launch, get one now that it's more reliable, and 3 years on top means you'll probably see the gen out.

[QUOTE="ninjaxmas"]i dunno how ppl can support MS after this whole mess started. i havn't bought a game for my 360 in over a year because i refuse to give them my hard earned money. after my 2nd died i canceled my live account and sold all my games except for two and bought a ps3. best gaming choice i've ever made...sirk1264

How is it childish? So it is childish for people to choose an alternative after losing $400? You're a perfect example of what a fanboy is. and it is not luck. Everbody I know that has a 360 had gotten the red ring. and the people they know had also gotten the red ring. My boss at work got the red ring. It is inevitable to get the red ring.

[QUOTE="dthach614"]

You don't get hair in your food and go back to that restauraunt later so why would are players buying new x360? that is beyond me. i refuse to be jerk around.

because FUN>>>>RROD
