Also, one could maybe make the case that PSN users, while not as plentiful as Live online users, maybe spread alot more to different games, while Live gamers tend to clump to 3 or 4 games.

That seems to be the case. The games my PSN friends are playing vary wildly, while on XBL my friends are generally playing Halo, Gears, or CoD. And only a couple exceptions.

My friends tend to either paly COD, Halo, or random Arcade titles.

Yeah, usually I have a couple of friends that will play the "flavor of the month" Arcade game. Which recently has been Castlevania HD for us.

Im sure they do. not every game needs to have the communitys of Halo adn MW to have people palying on them. And even if they dont, who cares. Dosent make PS3 bad.

SilentlyMad

Well if PS3 owners play online then what games? I just named 3 where it was ya not so much. I bought Uncharted 2 and thinking cool there should be some great online play. While I do think it is fun to play but ya just not to many players and even worse considering how big of a game UC2 is to the PS3. It really making me gun shy to buy the lesser games,

Modern Warfare 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Killzone 2, these are the games I play online on ps3 and they are always full of people

You know what's worse than UC2's player count anyway? Rogue Warrior's player count. It actually has a player count, and some guy has played like a thousand matches of it. That's just saddening.

I cant imagine taht game being very stable online. I mean, if they obviously didnt give a crap about the singleplayer, i highly dount they gave any more effort for the multiplayer.

Played KZ2 but not the other 2 so I can not say. KZ2 has a better and faster way to join matches then UC2 but still not many play it. There is only around 3 matches normally that are close to full. So pretty much if you do not like the type there is you are screwed. Also again it is another HUGE game for the PS3.

Its pretty much just as bad. I subjected myself to playing that game, it was like half the game is "So bad, its still just bad" territory and the other half is like "so bad, its amazing" territory. The ending song practically had me in tears from how bad it was. It was like they just threw as many swears into a song as they could without any concept of logic. I loved it. Like honestly, Rogue Warrior is probably the worst game I ever played. But I've never really played a truly terrible game, so I don't regret it.

They're too busy on System Wars talking about how good their exclusives look.

Thank god I'm not.

Its amazingly easy to make fun of and the game's like 3 hours long. Go for it. Just do what I did, rent it, beat it, say it didn't work, exchange it for a game you actually want to play >_>

I could care less about online play. Especially with my newest greatest game UT3. I have plenty of BOTS to go against and have fun with. I lost interest with ONLINE a LONG LONG time ago when I was still a 360 owner. Its just gotten so boring to me. Could care less if I play online ever again.

I didnt buy Uncharted 2 to play it online... There's very few game that I even bother with the online. As far as the MP in the game goes I did like it very much, but I dont know many people with PS3's so I didnt bother much with the online portion of the game.

[QUOTE="tomarlyn"]I really doubt a an online demo of an old game is going to have a big community. There's always full servers when I play, maybe you shouldn't try getting connected at 5am. I don't mind hearing multiple languages either and I am English, the creators of the language. Being within europe though we're less xenophobic anyway, most people will understand english if you're desperate to form a strategy. Bad Company 2 has the right idea, everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing without screaming down the mic. Maybe PSN gamers gel together better than LIVE players.SilentlyMad
Wow very defensive post and seems I hit a nerve. 1-Sure England created english but the world only cares about it because of America. You really think England has the same influence to make the world want to speak your tongue? Seriously? Lets face it America is a superpower and England not so much. 2- Yes since I choose America as my region I would rather hear my native tongue but since just under 56k of the world plays UC2 on a weekend that will not happen. 3-It does not matter if they know what they are doing I should not have to listen/mute to 1/2 the group speak asian just because not enough people play the game.

Nah, I have a hanghover, saw this thread and started facepalming. BTW we conquered the world and spread English across it before inventing america in our spare time, but thats not the point I was trying to get at. You have a problem with hearing other languages when it doesn't really make any difference. I just thought you sounded a little afraid. Looking forward to those hardcore Kinect games? :P I jest, I jest....

I do not think you are at the hangover phase yet since that would mean being sober or at least sobering up. I mean seriously why would I be afraid? It is cool bud I understand there may have been a soccer game on just now ...I mean football so it was party at the ol pub.

Honestly, if I wanted to play online, I'd play my PC. PS3/360 isn't really capable of providing me an enjoyable online experience in comparison. The community, terrible mic quality, 100+Ms average pings, etc. - it's ass.Mcspanky37
I agree. Anyone who primarily games online on their consoles are missing out. A sad bunch they are.

Only tens of thousands of people. Only. Is this for serials?Skittles_McGee

You must be new here.

Welcome to System Wars! Where things only matter if they have millions of sales and people on at once and where a score below 9.5 is a flop for most things and above is overrated.

Actually I live in Sweden now, they like Ice Hockey here and the pubs aren't really ''pubs''. Also the beer is stronger and its 9am now, very am. But yes yes I always enjoy a little banter like this :) Most times when I hear an american on a server my ears often have to endure kids laughing, swearing and/or racism. Maybe the language barrier is a good thing?

1. Thats a very ignorant post. I'm American, and yes, we're a superpower, but so is England. 2. I usually find a full match on UC2 within 10-30 seconds, which is not bad considering the main focus of UC2 and why it received so many awards is the single player. Many people I know don't like the MP either, probably because "it's not MW2 so its sucks!!!" 3. I mute people who don't speak my language, too, and I'm pretty sure people mute me when I talk with my friends about random stuff on PSN.

We do, its just we never stick with one game. We migrate from one great online game to another.

Even a game I love will be lucky to get 1 month of solid play (with the occasional come back), then I move on to another onlne game. The longest online game I played consecutively was MGO, for about 2-1/2 months.

I was a XBL whore last gen, always on. That didn't have an enormous community either but it was new. I remember two american guys in Return To Castle Wolfenstein talking openly about necrophilia and their personal techniques. There's some total freaks out there, the lack of mics with PSN is like gun control.

Now the PS3 has some real flagship online games and a good reputation. I'm sure its community will grow ten fold within the coming years and remember the experience is free, they have nothing to lose. Thats still not suggesting the current community is weak or limited in any way however. The fact the community is so varied is really nice, how many Japanese people do you have on your friends list? I have 3, they really like Lost Planet 2.

I'd say for the most part that your right however from my friends list 90'5 of the people just play MW2, and RDR. Though I don't think its true that a lot of ps3 users don't have mics, because if they're anything like me I don't use mine half the time anyway. And is 55,983 players really that small of an amount? I mean have you ever seen that many people at once. Could it not also be assumed that ps3 owner aren't online 24/7? Consider that the ps3 has sold pretty well with a good 37.4 million sold thus far. Consider that, and what I've said before hand with many people playing the most popular multiplat game ever, and....... uh, I forgot where I was going with this. I personally Don't play online regularly, and stick with my big single player campaigns most of the time when I'm not badgered into MW2. I find it funny that you mention warhawk though, pff that game hasn't been popular since 07. Oh yea now I remember. I think my was that ps3 gamers don't generally take online as seriously as 360 gamers because many of us didn't get caught up in the xbox live craze when it started, and mostly just think of it as a small luxury rather than an important part of gaming, or at least I do anyways. Thats prolly why a lot of don't care to have a paid subscription with anyone since we mostly go online for a casual sit down.

PS3 owner's do play online. The service might not be as good as xbox live, but it's free. Plus xbox pro's and elite's bundle mic's with them. Yes, I too was suprised about uncharted and killzone not having more players. I don't get that either, but give it time. I've met a ton of people playing.

[QUOTE="GodofEmpires"][QUOTE="SilentlyMad"]Wow very defensive post and seems I hit a nerve. 1-Sure England created english but the world only cares about it because of America. You really think England has the same influence to make the world want to speak your tongue? Seriously?

Reminds me of a MGO moment where two people where having a text chat, and one asked what the heck bestiality was.

The ensuing text chat and explanation on screen, in the middle of a game, made me LOL so hard.

Oh the MGO memories.

Heck I just downloaded Warhawk demo. You are able to play one of the online maps with the demo. I played it twice and there was only 11 people out of a possible 33. Seriously WTF!

SilentlyMad

Actually Warhawk still has a very strong community for being a 3 year old game.

I haven't played the demo since 2008 but it was very popular back then.

Im not surprised if the demo is as dead as you say it is now because I assume most people that actually liked it bought the full game. And once you buy the game you are no longer able to play the demo.

I still play this game because of the community and very good competition. Also the ranking system is another motivational desire to keep playing.

And last night playing UC2 I heard some of the most racist stuff I ever heard. In one deathmatch I must have heard the N word 80 times at least as 2 people completely insulted a black guy. Saying stuff about watermelon and all kinds of stuff. So do not act like it is only xbl. I do not even mind the crazy trash talk but just upset about the lack of people online to even do that kind of stuff. I love how PS3 fans act like it is nothing but bible hour on the PS3 and no wanna-be gangsters, gay bashing, racist, and so on going on in the PS3. I WANT to play and not wait for a games. I can mute all the PS3 kids.

Well if the demo map is not a part of the normal map then I take it back. I thought the demo map was just one part of the normal game and the full game owners played the same map.

I don't really like playing online at all. If I do, its usually just TF2 on my computer or co-op on the 360.

Even if that is true which I am not doubting you the PS3 should still have a big enough base to support MW2 and UC2 since UC2 is the biggest PS3 exclusive.

That map is also on the full game, CTF Island Battle "Installation" I believe is the demo..but they seperated the servers for demo players and full game players.

I recommend that you go to control options and take off Invert Up and down for aiming on everything. Also the aim speed is set at 50 % but 85-90% is much better. And I got the tank aim speed set to 100% because it aims and move the slowest.

Because there are no REAL multiplayer games on the PS3. U2 and KZ2s multiplayer fails.

erglesmergle
I as a person that can professionally critique game design. There really weren't any problems with those games design. Killzones was incredibly balanced which is more than you can say about MW2 because the designers put real effort into the class system which felt like TF2, but with interchangeable class attributes. The maps were very well designed as well making it impossible to rely on cheap tactics(unless the person your fighting is rock stupid, but in that case deserves it) And the flow between objectives, kept it from getting boring if ever your teams ran into a stale mate, and wining would result in a great feeling of victory over the other team. Of course there were some issues with it like the fact the games could last waaaay too long, and jumping around was never as fluid as in other games, or that some arse would throw a spawn grenade in the room were the objective your suppose to protect, but hey you can exploit there stupidity by spawn killing them(kinda like a trade off of cheap tactics that balance them selves out) As for UC2's online, well the gameplay, and level design are absolutely perfect, and balanced. Its jst a shame that matches take forever to state, and theres not much in the way of robust content, but whats there shines bright. So do they fail? No you twit, your just a misogynistic person who likes to subjectify himself as the center of controversy like everyone else here. The lease you could do is try validating your statements without filling then in with BS, and icecream!

Thank you for the advice. I switched all the inverted stuff but did not notice the rest. I will have to fix that next time.

Once again, UC2 is NOT known for its multiplayer, the game sold 4.5-5 million units and my friend's new account, which is a level 7, was ranked 700,000 on the leaderboards. That means a lot of players didn't even touch the MP, and played it mainly for its awesome singleplayer. Personally, though, I love UC2 MP.

I don't have any Japanese people on my friends list. My friends speak English so I we can communicate. Yes, I'm pretty sure in a couple years the PS3 community will grow, as PSN is impoved. GodofEmpires
I wouldn't say it needs any improving, just more word of mouth and better marketing. There's this strange illusion that because you have to pay for Gold its somehow better when its not (anymore anyway).

I've had U2 for a few months, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I loved the first one and only got U2 for the single player aspect.

[QUOTE="SilentlyMad"][QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"]Only tens of thousands of people. Only. Is this for serials?

So just under 56k for the PS3's biggest game on the weekend you think is a good thing? I am not sure if your serious or not.

It's the PS3s biggest game, the game has a much bigger focus on single player than it does multiplayer. The fact that it has around 56k playing daily is pretty good in my opinion. It's definitely not the PS3s biggest multiplayer game.

I personally can find 9 other players with 10 seconds-1 minute, depending on my connection. What helps is when you don't find players within 20 seconds, you back out of the matchmaking & try again. That I think resets your connection and helps you find players.
