[QUOTE="GodofEmpires"] I don't have any Japanese people on my friends list. My friends speak English so I we can communicate. Yes, I'm pretty sure in a couple years the PS3 community will grow, as PSN is impoved. tomarlyn
I wouldn't say it needs any improving, just more word of mouth and better marketing. There's this strange illusion that because you have to pay for Gold its somehow better when its not (anymore anyway).

I personally cannot, in any way, convince my friends to buy a PS3. Some of them LITERALLY think that PS3's are for poor people because we refuse to pay $60 a year for a service that's free on the other console. I then started laughing.

Lol I was just playing uncharted 2 online aswell. The game only gets 55000 players each day cause ppl are to busy with MW2

Even if that is true which I am not doubting you the PS3 should still have a big enough base to support MW2 and UC2 since UC2 is the biggest PS3 exclusive.

I think people are spoilt for choice, personally I only need 2-3 different online games in my life. Those are Counter Strike, Bad Company 2 and Killzone 2. Got fed up with Halo after trying new things. I didn't buy UC2 for its online mode either, but I've tried it and its really solid.

Once again, UC2 is NOT known for its multiplayer, the game sold 4.5-5 million units and my friend's new account, which is a level 7, was ranked 700,000 on the leaderboards. That means a lot of players didn't even touch the MP, and played it mainly for its awesome singleplayer. Personally, though, I love UC2 MP.

I've had U2 for a few months, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I loved the first one and only got U2 for the single player aspect.

Same here, its been sitting unopened on my shelf for 3 months like a trophy. I have no doubt it will be one of the greatest gaming experiences ever, but I gotta finish Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 first.

Yeah, I've got a stack of games to finish. I think I'll finish Batman: AA and then finally try out U2.

[QUOTE="SilentlyMad"][QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"]Only tens of thousands of people. Only. Is this for serials?

So just under 56k for the PS3's biggest game on the weekend you think is a good thing? I am not sure if your serious or not.

It's not PS3s biggest ONLINE game. It has a awsome singleplayer component and a above avrage multiplayer component. But nobody talks about the MP because Uncharted is an singleplayer franchise so evreybody just thinks its a last minute addon thats poorly thought out and ignore it. Wait for SOCOM 4, that will probably have a very strong online community, if it doesen't totaly flop

Never mind mass effect which is equal to UC2, but your holding out on UC2 for Bioshock 2? Forget that, why would you not open up a game as soon as you buy it? Why would you spend 60$ bones on something, and let it collect dust? Idk I just find that confusing.

Also, one could maybe make the case that PSN users, while not as plentiful as Live online users, maybe spread alot more to different games, while Live gamers tend to clump to 3 or 4 games.

Skittles_McGee

That seems to be the case. The games my PSN friends are playing vary wildly, while on XBL my friends are generally playing Halo, Gears, or CoD. And only a couple exceptions.

That's what I've always seen.

Greed? Hording? Impulse buying?

Take your pick, I could have waited until I finished these other games first but I couldn't help myself. I don't like leaving too many games half finished just to start a new one.

I never pickup a game full price, so I usually will jump on a really good price as I find them. Unfortunately, I have a Steam account that's become bloated with dirt cheap titles. I shudder to think of what it will look like after this fall/winter's sales.

One of the most fanboy comments ever... Yeh, people are going to be occupied by the 10 hour campaign for a couple of years (sarcasm), and the 360's games don't go for 10 hours (sarcasm). And do you realise that EVERYONE with psn can play online? That means there should be more players on the ps3's games. But there isn't because the game must suck. No-one play's bad games I guess. Halo 3 has been out for 3 years now and at least 400,000 people play every day.

Many games to choose from on the PS3, so you wont see Halo type numbers for the servers.

gaming25

Thats strange, there are only 5000 or so people on killzone 2, and the rest would be playing MW2. Excuses....

A fanboy calling out a fanboy?

lol, priceless.

On-topic though, there's more than enough people playing online on PSN for one to find matches quickly in popular games like MW 2, R2, Warhawk, KZ 2, UC 2, etc..

Yea, great thing about warhawk is that even if there's still only like 5 people playing online you can still have a game.

I think this generation people rather play games online that are completely focussed on online and have had some hype. I can't imagine for example that Bioshock2 had a floroushing online community. The people who have a PC will probably prefer to use the PC for online play because you have more options to find servers that you like etc.

X360 owners pay to play online... and xbox live has very good community features almost like steam, that draw you in to compete online. Playstation online felt rather like a hurdle to take than something that draws me in. Maybe that has changed, my PS3 hasn't been online for years.

Or they can play more relaxed because every single spare moment they don't spend online gaming isn't a loss to their wallet? It's my case, for example.

Typical more is better argument.... I usually only play COD: WaW which is a lot more popular probably due to it being a franchise of cross platform nature... Hence the reason for it being so active with sometimes 34,000 players online but generally always over 24,000... I don't see why a massivle high community is neccessary for a game where it was the SP that made it popular because it looks and plays good. Whereas all the games you mentioned with a huge community are generally orientating MP aspect of the game... You just need to get your facts straight and see why a game is what it is... Check Unreal Tournament, not a great SP but that's not why people bought it is it?

Uncharted 2 pretty much the most popular PS3 game and there were only 55,983 daily players. That is right I did not say current players but the entire day (daily) and it is the weekend. I just got through playing and kept having to wait for matches for awhile. Also it is a good thing most people with a PS3 do not have mics because 50% of the time I play Uncharted they do not even speak english. That would not be a bad thing if I did not put my region as America but I did but since there is so few people playing I get connected to wherever in the world I can. I just finished a game where is was some form of asian. Seriously the most popular PS3 game can not even get 100k for the entire day? Heck it only had half a 100k and it is the weekend!

Killzone 2 is the same way also. Now the way it is set up it is easier but still there is never more then 3 or 4 matches that are close to full. Also KZ2 is supposed to be another huge one for the PS3.

Ps3 owners brag all the time about the free wifi and free online but that does not mean diddly if no one uses it. 360 owners pay and there is still far more players.

Heck I just downloaded Warhawk demo. You are able to play one of the online maps with the demo. I played it twice and there was only 11 people out of a possible 33. Seriously WTF!

If I played Halo, Gears, or CoD on the 360 there will be a truck load of people.

I primarily only played online during the MP Beta, and at that point there were only like 800 people max on at once. I still had loads of fun playing. But only about half the people had mics. That is sort of a problem I guess.

Try playing a Call of Duty game online on the PS3, and you'll have no problems finding a game.

and also the microphone thing. Well, you know, there's these things called languages, that do not mix very well. On 360, being english possibly the most used language on LIVE by a wide margin, i can understand that people are willing to talk. I personally mute almost everyone since hearing italian, french and english at the same time is kind of enerving.

Ps3 owners brag all the time about the free wifi and free online but that does not meandiddly if no one uses it.

SilentlyMad

HAHAH lol wtf with diddly?

If you played any game on PS3 online, you would know there's absolutely no problem. If the game devs didn't list the number of people online at all you wouldn't be worried.

I actually hate talking unless if it's my friends through phone, PC or bluetooth. I usually also mute my games since I usually don't play coop or team based games with random people. However I only mute when I hear a crap tons of people talking loud with babies crying in the background and foul mouths going at eachother.:P

it's because Uncharted 2 servers group players by region.

where i am right now (in western Canada), there's only 12,000+ players playing. and most of the players i have a match with are from the city right next to where i live (hint: their PSN IDs either have the city name, or the hockey team name on them. lol).

i compared once with my friend who lives in Cali (number of players online), and i got around 10,000+ and he got around 30,000+.

on the same note, we PS3 owners have alot of games to choose from. we don't just live off off Halo or Gears or COD. lol.

2006: Gears of War, CoD 3

2007: Halo 3, Modern Warfare

2008: Gears of War 2, CoD World at War

2009: Halo ODST, Modern Warfare 2

2010: Halo Reach, CoD Black Ops

2011: Gears 3, Modern Warfare 3

2012: GUESS WHAT

bleh.

we don't? :/ maybe it's because our single player experience is head and shoulders above the 5 hour crap u find on 360... so we don't have to swarm the online community xDtheuncharted34
