Why do you pay for Xbox Live?

You are choosing to give money for something others get for free, you are in effect telling Billy that you aren't worth free Live. Have more self respect than that.

Do you even have any idea what it takes to run a service as large as Live? I guess you don't, and that is why you wouldn't make it in the business world. Live is tied into every game. Updates, DLC, movies, Live Arcade, Online play; everything. Someone has to pay for that. $4 a month for a great service is nothing. Where you fail is you believe that since online is free for PC users, and PS3 users, it must be free for everyone. However, someone has to pay for it. Sony only has to worry about their servers. Sony doesn't have the overhead that MS has. 3rd party devs control their own servers. Unlike Live, when all games are ran on Live servers. Plus, Sony charges devs to host their updates on PSN. MS doesn't. Even Xfire doesn't have the overhead that MS does. Most free services on the PC are run on ad money. I'd rather pay $4 a month, than look at ads all day. The money has to come from somewhere. So, instead of insulting people, just because they'd rather pay for a decent service, keep your self rightious comments to yourself, and don't worry about what other people do.MortalDecay

I choose not to keep comments to myself. If what you say is true then Microsoft chooses to do things way which costs you money. Also I don't even notice the ads on xfire.

I love it...People that expect everything to be handed to them, calling other people second class. I'll tell you what. PC, and PS3 online is free, and so is a sandwich in a trash can. I'll sit here, and enjoy my 360, and Live...I'll keep paying for a better service, and you can sit there and enjoy your free online, and free sandwich....Fair enough?MortalDecay

Why? I'm not saying I believe life is overrated. But in my philosophy class I've heard people argue the case of why they think it is. It makes no sense to me personally, hence why i state "Some would argue", but I acknowledge their opinion as being valid.

My point lie in not with the argument that life is overrated or not, but despite other opinions, which are wholly valid, doesn't alter my own opinion. In other words, just because Jade Monkey claims LIVE is overrated in no way makes me think the service is overrated or infringes on my enjoyment from using it.

cba reading the rest of the thread but I stopped paying for Live since spending more time on pc gaming and I certainly won't pay for it when it's free on pc. My 360 is mainly used now for watching movies on tv

Xbox Live is a lot of unnecessary filler. All you need is to be able to play games online and voice chat. Anything more than that is unnecessary filler.q6g8f6d8d0b3m5l

We pay for Xbox Live, 'cause in order to play our Xbox360 games online, we need the service.

Yes it's free on other platforms ... but we're not talking about other platforms, we're talking about the Xbox.

Unless i can get PSN and Xfire on my Xbox, it's a moot point.

£36 a year isn't alot ... for anyone. A homeless person could make that in a couple days.

There are other ways too, some legal, some not. I got rid of my cable a couple of years ago and watch all my shows off the internet and I get my local HD channels off of a standard antenna. I couldn't be happier.

because im not poor. If PSN was as good as xbl, but id have to pay 50 a year to use it id pay that too.

Because I want to play call of duty 2, call of duty 4, call of duty 3, halo 2, halo 3, lost planet, and all the other games I have on my 360 and not on my ps3.

its not that big of a deal, just think, your paying $50 a year, thats like a couple cents a day.
you can find that much on the street or under your couch.

the whole idea that live is overpriced is rediculous primarily because this forum is for the people that can afford those luxuries. Do you really think people who cant afford 50 dollars a year come to this forum? Its just another excuse fanboys use to say live is bad, which it clearly isnt.

Only ppl I know that would complain about LIVE fees, are fanboys and kids without jobs.

To get the most out of my 360 and 60$/year isn't an issue for me (though if it was free I wouldn't say no), I don't have a PS3 and the Wii's online is nothing worth mentionning.
