[QUOTE="dc337"] Sig spam is what makes threads go to 10 pages so quickly. It's annoying. Why even bother listing a standard hard drive? You might as well tell us the brand of the light bulb in your computer room. Not at all interesting.

Why the hell are you so obsessed with my Sig? What in the world does it have to do with Crysis 2. I am going to put the specs of my Gaming Rig on my SIG, if you don't like it go somewhere else. Sheesh!

he has a point to be honest, it is ridiculously long and rather pointless, does anyone even bother to read it or any of the other "setup" or "what i am playing" sigs? i certainly dont, it is slightly irritating seeing the same useless info time and again and having to scroll through and yours is longer than most.

I am going to put the specs of my gaming rig, if you don't like it go somewhere else. People put the specs of rigs and what they play and what not all the time if you don't like it don't look. Simple as that.

On topic, I am starting to have my doubts that even after all 3 platforms I don't know if it will top 4.5 million sales of Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Even Homefront beat granted it started earlier, but still with all the commercials on TV one would have expected it to sell a lot more.

I'm not sure why people keep claiming that it's selling poorly? I havent bought the game myself yet so I cant speak to the quality of the game beyond what the reviews are saying, but everything seems to point to it selling quite well.

- EA said that it had more sales after a week than any of their other titles this year (making it outsell DA2 and Dead Space 2 during it's launch week).(link)

- It's still selling well on STEAM and Direct2Drive (on STEAM it's number 3 on the top seller list, only beaten by Portal 2 and Metro 2033 which was on sale this weekend. On Direct2Drive it's also in Third place.

- As someone posted earlier, it appears to be the top selling Xbox game in the UK a month after it's launch. While it's a smaller market it's is an indicator that the game is selling well. (link)

- If you look at the March NPD sales, Crysis is in 7th place after DA2 and Homefront. However, not that Crysis 2 was released on march 22nd, Homefront on March 15th and Dragon Age 2 on March 8th. Homefront was on the market for 16 days, Dragon Age 2 on the market for 23 day and Crysis 2 on the market for only 9 days. With that in mind, being 7th best selling game dosent look that bad. (link)

All evidence shows that the game appears to be selling well in spite of what a lot of people are hoping for. We dont have any solid numbers yet but everything seems to point to it selling well at launch an still moving a lot of units a month after it's release. While I very much doubt that it'll sell anything like CoD, but it seems pretty clear that it's selling quite well.

because its the typical run of the mill "aliens taking over world, supersolider saves the world" type of bullcrap we've been getting for the past 10 years. No originality.

Well, the PS3 version is not up to the same standard as the 360 version even though both are sub HD junks, but regardless they have Killzone 3 which is more than enough to compete. the pc version never got the same treatment as Crysis 1 nor Warhead, hell they have the balls to ship it with DX9 only and locked settings. Crysis 2 is virtually a poor man's Crysis 1, there's no doubt hermit crowd is pissed off. So that leaves only to 360 version but guess what, they have already spent all their cash on Bullet storm just to get into Gears 3 beta, Home front might have stole their hearts too. Just my guess.

i understand you can put whatever you like in your sig. i was agreeing with dc337's point by saying its longer than most.

And who cares if one's sig is this or that? What does this even have to do with Crysis 2 sales. I don't go around whining about other people's sig. If you don't like it don't look at it.

Back to the point. Didn't anyone expect Crysis 2 to be an instant best seller when it came out given all the commercials and advertisement?

I agree. You forgot to mention they had "auto-aim" enabled on the PC by default, which is a LOLfest. Although they removed on the PC version later on after people complained. You could see their shoddy work with the PC version.

Crysis 2 should have improved on Crysis, just as Crysis did from Farcry. But it didn't. It stayed the same, just some makeup that for some even made it worse.

I doubt that would have been possible while still making a multi-plat game. I'm guessing that the low amount of RAM in the consoles just doesn't mesh well with the much bigger environments in Crysis 1. I think that from Cryteks perspective that would have defeated the who purpose. I think that the main product that CryTek is trying to sell here is not Crysis 2 but the CryEngine 3. CryEngine 2 never did well as a third part engine since it was PC only. A handful of games used it but compared to the incredible success of Unreal, Crytek must have been frustrated. They had the best looking engine on the market but no one was buying since it didn't support multiple platforms.

If you look at CryTeks media stuff over the last couple of years they've spend as much (or more) time talking about their engine than the game they were making. They've talked again and again about how great and easy it is to work cross platform. THAT is the main product for CryTek, to show the world that their newest engine A) Looks as good as anything on the consoles B) Works cross platform. They are not so much competing with CoD as they are competing with Unreal and IdTech 5.

Of course a positive reception of Crysis 2 would be another solid sales argument for the engine. Whether they've succeeded in that area remains to be seen.

I got the 360 version and the game looks pretty damn fantastic. I hope it performs well in sales, 'cos I actually really enjoyed it (and the MP is pretty fun as well).
