Why do you think the PS4 is still outselling the XB1?

You would think after the price drop the XB1 would have the edge in sales, but it only managed to win one month of 2015 so far. What does the XB1 need to become the console leader in sales, or is it too late?

This is coming from a PS4 owner mind you. I'm just trying to make sense of things.

It's a better console. More games, better hardware, didn't attempt to screw you over with anti consumerist policies. Difference is night and day, really.

Core gamers all bought ps4 first and told friends to get it when Xbone was 500. Have you actually used both systems? 1080p Isn't the only reason gamers buy games and prefer to play on ps4. The Xbone sux is a massive mess everything on ps4 is better than xb1.

The majority of consumers are only recently knowing that the Wii u isn't a controller for the Wii. The bad press the Xbox one got initially still hurts it, of course general misinformation continues.

PS4 has like 150+ more games. It has more retail games too. People want games. Think 360 or PS2. Games, games, games. Multiplats or not, people want them and the PS4 simply has lots more of them. The extra power helps as well.

Doesn't mean things can't change, but as it sits right now more games is a big plus for PS4 despite releasing at the exact same month and year as the Xbone.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they only won a single month in 2015 so far. The other time they won was November of 2014.

I think 3DS won one month this year.

That isn't competing with the PS4, or XB1.

Its the better system and it has better games now and in the future.

With the recent E3 conference i would say expect the PS4 to sell even more now

More people have PS4, people are happy with their PS4, thus a greater influence on others...

I would also assume because two of the main first party exclusives (Halo & Gears of War) are not developed by their original studios, so quality is to be determined as almost nothing has been shown, where as for the most part (correct me if I'm wrong) the PS4 exclusives are still produced by their original devs.

Microsoft fobbing people off with the "Power of the cloud (tm)" for almost a year and a half with nothing to show for it, an example extremely bad PR, cause for distrust.

Microsoft's track record with defective unreliable 360's which leaves the consumer without console until it's fixed, yes I know the new one is just fine but people have memories and will not buy one out of spite if they have had a bad experience.

Inferior multiplats on Xbox One with a few exceptions.

Cheaper online service on PS4 (over time all that money adds up), with better game rentals *cough I mean *free games.

Individually each of these things are small, but they all stack up when someone makes a choice.

Why? MS has never been the go to console in most areas of the world. This gen even in the strongholds MS had they are struggling. The reveal was a giant mess with all their anti consumer policies. And while they backtracked on that....the damage was done. Even the cost was prohibitive. You just can't over price your console to that extent and expect sales. Sony has had a good name in gaming since their initial console. Most games can be bought on either console. Exclusives aren't as big a deal as SW thinks. MS quality has annoyed some consumers. RRoD didn't help consumer satisfaction. And variety. MS markets mainly similar genres of games. Yes the demographic that likes those games will snap up the console. But that doesn't generate interest outside that genre.

Can MS turn it around? I don't think they will pull ahead of the competition. But they can stay competitive if they create IPs that interest consumers. If they can do that then their fans can continue to enjoy gaming on MS platforms for more years/generations. You just have to be viable to survive in the business.....you don't have to dominate.

The PS4 is outselling the XB1 because of it's first impression. That is everything. However, if you follow gaming like we do you would admit that MS is slowly turning around and trying to fix their mistakes. The other big problem is that Sony has no holiday lineup for this year outside of multiplats, while MS is bringing out all their big franchises. If the PS4 outsells the XB1 this holiday.........well, that's simply because people are not educated on the matter.

I can't wait to see what a future Xbox console will be like under Phil Spencer's guidance. I'm willing to bet it will be a powerhouse because in all honesty they can afford it and they need to make a big impact next gen.

So you don't take into account hardware failure turning some gamers off nor the lack of games for the last year? I don't think first impressions are the only problem for MS. Hell.....believe it or not....not all gamers watch E3 nor read gaming sites.

Post reveal momentum, better hardware for not much more, an attractive future line-up.

Why is it misinformed to buy a console for the titles it has coming to it rather than a current lineup?

Let's not forget something. XBone apparently had the better lineup for the Holidays in 2014 as well but now they are sitting around talking about games rather than playing them. Unless you count Ori and the Blind Forest as a big system selling exclusive, ya'll have had dick in hand for over half a year now.

Actually for considerable amount of time Xbox One had been providing more variety than PS4, but then again Xbox 360 had OBJECTIVELY games from more genres than PS3, and some of these genres hadn't had a single PS3 title.

I'm sure those 100 shoehorn budget indie games or straight ports from PS3 that you have to pay for again were reasons for people getting PS4.

Because is the best next gen console and it have the best games.

It's because Sony is still turning their customers into cultists and channeling maniacal zealousy with religious intensity.

And the fact that you're an awful lot more likely to come across a PS4 owner very closely resembling the way cows behave here on SW than you'd ever find it among Nintendo, PC or Xbox owners.

And it still doesn't go away, no matter what.

Just because the PS4 dosent have a highly milked shooter this holiday like xbox one dosent mean Sony has no holiday line ups ;)

Plus the BIG multiplats which all are being advertised on PS4 Black Ops3, Star Wars (remember the biggest movie this holiday season is star wars, the game will be pushed like madness all on PS4), Destiny and so many others.

And it's a bit hypocritical to whine about indie games when much of MS' E3 featured indie games. Come on dude don't be dishonest. FYI...what exactly was the purpose of the MCC collection if it wasn't to pay for games again?

Did I hype MS indies from E3 anywhere on SW? No.

And MCC offers significant improvements for every title in every way (except for online, but I've heard it's now fixed). And if you don't want to, you don't have to buy it. You can wait for proper premiere of BC capability and play BC versions of 360 Halo games.

I think they'll win November and December and if Quantum Beak, Scalebound, Gears 4, and Crackdown 3 are as good as they look then they'll probably win a few months in 2016 too. I'm sure things will pick up for them soon.

It has better hardware and a bigger library (same advantages 360 had over PS3).

That said, Xbox One is alot better now, that it was at launch! It terms of exclusives, i would say it's above the PS4, but then again, exclusives are just the tip of the iceberg.

Anyhoo, MS had an awful X1 reveal with a higher price but now with BC and the X1 big hitters announced and coming soon, looks like the X1 will by years end just start hitting it's stride. the worms about to turn me thinks.

Because it's the product that the media decided to get behind. The public aren't very strong willed and the hot thing always gets more attention.

sony has more worldwide appeal and MS royally fucked up there launch. its really that simple. the ps4 hasn't done anything all that great and its lineup is pretty poop

PS4 is a more basic, casual system. That doesnt make it bad by any means.

The Xbox One is selling really well, the PS4 though is selling better. Why? The answer is simple, PS3 owners dropped their systems like a hot potato and transitioned to the PS4 sooner than Xbox 360 users.

@LJS9502_basic: I know a lot of gamers do not watch E3 or gaming sites, which is why I believe the average casual gamer doesn't know anything about hardware. If they do it's because of word of mouth, which is my whole point about first impressions. MS did drop the ball on hardware, that's for sure, but if the games are they it shouldn't matter.

@Shewgenja: I'm pretty sure the most impressive title the PS4 has is Bloodborne right now. The rest are multiplats, so I'm not impressed. Also, do not come at me with this FF VII/Shenmue/TLG talk because I guarantee 2 of those titles will not see the light of day until 2017. Xbox is at least bringing exclusives this year and next.

Two things fucked up the Xbox One,

A high price point

A messy launch.

The Xbox One was trying to become and all in one entertainment hub and sell itself as such, the more things your product can do the harder it becomes to sell. Things become contrived and messy easily.

The PS4 was cheaper and essentially did exactly what the PS1,2 and 3 did previously, not hard sales pitch there. Just more of the same. People ate it up. If the Xbox one released at a more competitive price point and marketed itself primarily as a games machines and introduced all the media benefits at a later date I think things would look very differently now.

The Xbox One is a great machine, its a decent games machine with what I believe to have the stronger retail releases to date, games I personally would rather play than on the ps4.

Its a brilliant all in one device regardless of individual purpose. Il pick up a PS4 when we see a revival of some of those exclusives that made the playstation my Favorite console, until then it will always remain second.

No is because people don't want another Halo,Gears,Forza holiday,those games don't sell 30 million copies,most people who want to play them are already inside the xbox one user base.

So does the xbox one get Persona 5,Tales of Zesteria,Tear away,Until down,Drawn to Death those the xbox one get any of those this holiday.?
