Well I love graphics, I won't lie... (it's like if you asking me if you prefer SDTV over HDTV) but I also like games that are fun. I bought plenty of games that graphics are dated since the NES.
His PS3 can play games that are exclusive, well PC has some exclusive aswell.
ZombieKiller7
Well, RDR isn't exclusive, it's just not available on PC right now.
Same with dark souls.
But beyond exclusives, consoles are a different lifestyle.
ie being able to use a laptop in your office, being able to run linux as a primary system, etc
Beyond that I find console gaming to be more consistently fun.
With PC you'll either have a great time or you'll run into some technical problem that will eat up your time.
With console, the gaming experience is consistently "good."
There's never a driver problem, BSOD or anything else.
It's a more comfortable lifestyle of "get in, game, get out." With no fuss, no muss.
Not saying it's "better" than PC gaming.
Just "different" that some people value alot more than "graphics."
I agree with elements of that. Console gaming is easier to plug and play to a certain extent. However these days the disparity is not really very big. For example I game on a PC. In the last 5 years;
- I have not experienced a single BSOD
- I have not experienced a single driver problem
- I have not had a single technical issue with a game.
That's including the fact that I use my PC for music production also. BSOD only really happen these days when people are trying to overclock their systems too much. Drivers are no longer an issue either really. Windows 7 does everything automatically and if you want to update your graphics drivers keenly then you can use Nvidia control panel automatic updating notification and presumably whatever ATI use these days.
As for graphics, they are kinda important. I can barely stand to play a game in 720p now I'm so used to 1080p. It looks horrible, honestly, once you are used to a superior sharpness I find it hard to lower my standards for console gaming. However that's not my main issue with graphics, because I like to play quite a few FPS games, my FPS (frames per second) rate is important to me. In fact it's important in any game that has real time combat, for me. I'm just used to a higher standard of 60FPS or around that. If I am getting lower I actually noticeably enjoy the game less. It really makes a big difference. So for me graphics are intertwined with gameplay.
Booting up my PC with my SSD, means that I can load a game incredibly fast, the loading times in the game are a couple of second only. It really improves everything. For instance I heard that on the console some of the loading times for Deus EX HR were up to 15 seconds. Whereas I never had a loading screen last longer that 1-3 seconds when I played it from my SSD.
For me the quality of experience on the PC is just so much higher in so many ways. It's hard for me to even consider using a console for anything other than sports games.
