Why don't console peasants admit defeat to their PC Gaming Overlords?

[QUOTE="lowe0"] Well, then you should have no trouble countering my argument that there is no best system and that they all involve tradeoffs. I'll wait.lowe0

PC don't involve any tradeoffs, it is simply the superior system to play games.

Then you should have no trouble refuting the specific tradeoffs I listed in my earlier post. Simply saying "what tradeoffs?" does not constitute a counter argument.

List them if you want, but i doubt that you will make a reasonable argument against PC gameing, simply because PC is the superior system to play games.

I think a lot of people think pc gamers are strange and pathetic weirdos. Not me necessarily. But just look at the popularity of Skyrim nude mods. It makes pc gamers look really weird and pathetic!!

GrannyGoat

That's just the same as generalizing that all console players are 12-years old girls (boys) screaming/swearing/stating who they had sex with/playing music loudly into the microphone. All in all, tis a bit dumb.

i dont get the whole superiority arguement there is tradeoffs like more expensive components to get the best out a newer game, drivers and some of the pretty draconian DRM systems.

the cost is only problem for the kids, what you mean drivers? also DRM is not something that will affect you, i mean i have play games with DRM and i didn't even notice that it was there, until some troll make a thread on SW saying that X game have DRM...

as you can see no tradeoffs.

Inferior plaformers, JRPGs and fighters, bad local multiplayer support, less stable.

Have you ever seen SMG2 at 1080p son? Thats the ultimate platforming experience isnt? Or should i mention Xenoblade at 1080p?

SSF4AE , SFxTekken arent good fighters?

Bad local multiplayer? You talking to the LORDS of LAN gaming!! Go google DREAMHACK lan arena photos.... Tell me if you have ever seen this in your life as a console gamer. Makes your ""2man/4man multiplayer"" vs 12.000 ... laughable.

Less stable than what? You made my day , now reconsider .

and the pc have the superior venison's of these types of games you listed(higher fps, better graphics, control scheme of your choice, etc), consoles have also bad local multiplayer, also PC gameing it is very stable.

Console games need to surrender and leave SW, simply because they can't win any argument.

MK-Professor

Well, then you should have no trouble countering my argument that there is no best system and that they all involve tradeoffs. I'll wait.

Debatable. Superior tech., maybe, but tradeoffs, yes. Not everyone can go in and make themselves a gaming pc on a proper budget, while knowing what parts, or specs they need. I'm sure they can purchase a gaming ready PC, but those are a little more pricey. They can add to their current PC , but that's where they'll have to understand what type of power supply they'll need(watts), If they even have PCI or PCI express ports for a upgraded card, which I'm sure most newer PC's do, but it's still something they'll need to know. I've been recently trying to upgrade a couple of PCs in my home , and I've learned a lot just from asking people on this site. I quickly found out that the hd5450 is NOT a gaming card! I should've done my research on that and not tried to be cheap. Anything above a decent $100 graphics card seems to require a upgraded power supply, at least 400watts. My point is , I just think a lot of people primarily game on consoles because it is simpler. Its games are for that system and you don't have to hope and pray that the game you purchase is compatible, or can be played on your PC.

Already did. Triple screen support is far too inconsistent to be worth it, native gamepad support is still not in 100% of the games I want to play (though it's improved a lot this year) and skills based matchmaking is virtually nonexistent. I expect games to work every time, right out of the box on day one, and I'm more likely to get that on a console, even if I have to trade away the advantages of a PC to get it.

SMG2 without motion controls? What?

So the PC has two fighters? Bravo.

And again, you expose PC gamers as mindless drones who cite numbers instead of taking into account the game experience. Smash Bros Brawl and Castle Crashers alone decimate local multiplayer on PC.

Less stable than consoles which have games specifically optimized for its hardware and OS. No need to modify .ini files, install older drivers for old games,, or anything. You get a stable performance no matter what.

You want to know what the funny thing is? I game on my PC close to 50% of the time. It is mindless drones like you who give PC gamers a bad name.

I like it how this thread isn't about PC gaming and consoles themselves but about "console peasants" and "PC Gaming Overlords". In other words: fanboy wars material.

PC doesn't have the following (legally): Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Tales of series, Mario Kart, Metroid, Uncharted, Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, Pokemon, God of War, Valkyria Chronicles, The Legend of Zelds, Resident Evil, Mario, Shin Megami Tensei, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Twisted Metal, Infamous, Star Fox, Sly Cooper, Demon's/Dark Souls, and many other console exclusive franchises. /thread

In what way is it not relevant? It gets a ridiculous amount of multiplats shared with the consoles, along with far more exclusives.

[QUOTE="topsemag55"] Nope, PCs recover from a BSOD, consoles don't come back from RROD & YLOD.:lol:NoodleFighter

I haven't had a blue screen of death since the first iteration of windows XP

and really? that's their defense? an error that can be skipped by pressing enter or restarting the computer?

At least a PC can actually work after crashing unlike some other platform I know >.>

Consoles can work after crashes too. I've had both my PS3 and my Sega Saturn freeze. They still work.

It's a pointless battle that console peasants refuse to give up. PC has more high scoring exclusives than all three consoles combined

Snyper007-2
But PS3 alone has more high scoring games than PC this gen & same with 360

All it gets is console ports and no games (except a few) that really show the true power of the platform that would make someone want a gaming pc. It's not relevant because the only thing pc gamers argue to console gamers is the ability to emulate console games at hi res graphics instead of talking about games that makes a gaming pc worth owning. You are probably an exception.

Erm... One of the major arguments on this board is the very fact that it has more high-scoring exclusives. What on Earth are you talking about?

Emulation is a no-no on this board, and thus gets talked about very little.

For someone who just wants to play games the cost of a console is more appetizing and the jump in fee is essentally much less than a computer if you just wanna play games really

you can try brush it under the carpet all you want much like the lemmings brushing the multiple disk games under the carpet when cows bring it up in topics like this on your point about the DRM there is certain companies and systems that are a tad draconian arent they ;)

Very few pc developers stress the art direction. I bet the budget in this area is very limited/not looked at most of the time. I actually can't even name an original looking pc game at the moment.

  1. The Witcher
  2. The Witcher 2
  3. Civ V
  4. Terraria
  5. Stalker series
  6. The Old Republic
  7. Amnesia
  8. Starcraft II

There are unique games in terms of art direction on all systems. These are a few for the PC.

Some is not all. It's a terrible platform choice if you actually enjoy those games. I started with FF on PC. That lasted two games, and then I had to have a playstation to play IX and X. Being able to play a limited selection of a library isn't a plus, it's a concession.

What does the PC have from Shin Megami Tensei?

I´m not your "brah",and I see you´re trying to spin the argument. Amusing.

[QUOTE="Nanomage"] Yes,and some of them can be found on the PC,contrary to what you´ve stated.Nanomage

Some is not all. It's a terrible platform choice if you actually enjoy those games. I started with FF on PC. That lasted two games, and then I had to have a playstation to play IX and X.

What does the PC have from Shin Megami Tensei?

This.

Try to pick games that aren't terrible.

Very few pc developers stress the art direction. I bet the budget in this area is very limited/not looked at most of the time. I actually can't even name an original looking pc game at the moment.

lundy86_4

  1. The Witcher
  2. The Witcher 2
  3. Civ V
  4. Terraria
  5. Stalker series
  6. The Old Republic
  7. Amnesia
  8. Starcraft II

There are unique games in terms of art direction on all systems. These are a few for the PC.

I give you the Witcher. All the other games are very generic. Stalker? Seriously? Old Republic? Maybe, but it is based heavily on already established art. Starcraft? You mean, those tiny little Warhammer figures I used to paint when I was very young?

Funny how console peasants need to resort to combining several of their franchises and they still can't beat PC

[QUOTE="lowe0"] Then you should have no trouble refuting the specific tradeoffs I listed in my earlier post. Simply saying "what tradeoffs?" does not constitute a counter argument.lowe0

List them if you want, but i doubt that you will make a reasonable argument against PC gameing, simply because PC is the superior system to play games.

As I expected, no reasonable argument against PC gameing.

every multiplat have native gamepad support, and also you have the superior control scheme K/M

what do you mean "skills based matchmaking" are you trying to argue against dedicate server LOL or you are saying that p2p on consoles have better matchmaking than p2p on pc, if that is the case then you are wrong.

every game works out of the box, and you don't need to spread lies just because you are a hardcore console fanboy.

"I'm more likely to get that on a console" so you are saying that you like playing with 1280x720, 30fps, low settings, no control scheme of your choice, no mods, etc?

Stalker has a very unique art direction. Post-apocalyptic scenario can breed some very unique and creepy locations.

The Old Republic does have a basis for the art direction, but if you play it, you'll see it has one of its own. It does away with a more realistic design in favour of a more "cartoonish" feel. It actually ends up looking pretty cool.

Yep, Starcraft.

How on Earth is Terraria generic? Let alone Amnesia or Civ V.

Sure it is. If we're going over which platforms have which offerings in a series, those offerings should at least be legitimate.

PC is better in terms of what it can do and its power and everything as a platform. BUT no one can argue that consoles (and PC and handhelds) have exclusives that are very important to people. I love PC. IT is the best. But I own a PS3, Wii, 3DS, and other stuff too so I can play all those awesome games that noone should miss out on.

I merely stated that his statement was incorrect, there are games from some of those franchise on the PC,like most of the Resident Evil series for instance.

I wssn´t trying to focus on that point, hence why I said that posting lists of games one system may not have is irrelevant when you can also post a list of games that the other systems don´t have,so it´s pointless.

Yep, Starcraft? How, exactly? It really looks like a blatant ripoff of Warhammer--just like Gears of War.

Like I said, when the argument fails this is what happens, and you´re only perpetuating it even more. No wonder console gamers lose almost every single argument around here, and when they do they resort to what you´re doing. Sad,but amusing.

It´s the mark of someone that has been owned.
