There are games that are better played in consoles and there are games that are played better on PCs. And PC ports are usually terrible than the console version. But the PC arguably has a better online service. And so on and so fourth but I don't think that either of them are superior.

Usually? How many bad PC ports have there been. I don't think "usually" is the right word to use.

Maybe a handful at launch and are fixed with patches and or user made mods or fixes. 98% are better the console versions in almost in every way.

Fifa

That didn't even remotely answer the question :? Usually implies that it is a normal event. PC ports are not normally worse than the console counterpart.

Are you doing this on purpose? Even counting all FIFA games, that doesn't even come close to the number of multiplats that release for the PC. So, that doesn't answer the question on just how many bad PC ports there are that are lower in quality than the console counterpart.

The Witcher 2 is the best PC game?

On MC the highest scoring PC exclusive is Out of the Park Baseball 2007, followed by Starcraft II. On GS the highest scoring exclusive PC game this gen is Starcraft 2/World in Conflict.

It seems you're just trying to make it seem that the PC is losing its "best" exclusive.

Hang on, I got this.
Everything is relative. I winthemajormayor
Everything being relative is my argument, and if you're going to use it, please do so correctly. If you want to say you've had a track record of bad experiences with ports and that you prefer to play multiplatform titles on consoles for that reason, that's a perfectly valid cause-and-effect statement. Just leave open the option for someone else's experience to be different.

However, once you actually put a number, or even a range, on it, then you're trying to set an absolute. Those don't work very well here, because:

  • it's so easy to poke holes in them, and
  • because poking holes in absolute arguments is a fun way to kill time, especially when the only game on is the frickin' Broncos winning (blech... this is the second time I've had to root for the Steelers recently, the other being last year's Super Bowl).

In conclusion: if you're the one who posted the original absolute statement, invoking "everything is relative" leaves you with a draw at best, and a pretty nasty loss in a lot of cases. It only works well if you use it against someone else's absolute statement.

So they're generic because one faction in the game uses armour/power-armour? Even the art regarding the armour is drastically different, WTF?

Have you taken any kind of art/graphic design cIass. I took 8 years of graphics design through high-school and college. Warhammer's armour design goes for a more modernized medieval styIe. Starcraft's is quite different.

This proves you do not have knowledge of the subject. The similarities are in shape/color theory.

Yeah, and a lot of PCs best franchises are also on consoles: The Elder Scrolls, Deus Ex, Fallout, The Witcher, Just Cause.

and the funny part is that they have limitless potential in terms of ways to enjoy them and in terms of content just because of mod support. even some games that don't have mod support are still superior. i'd be disappointed if i hear any 'blahblahmodsaredumb' kind of rabble, because there's no way in the world you can argue that mods don't give games more depth, added/reduced challenge, content, replayability, entertainment, innovation, and make them overall better games because of the possibilities also, to the games comment further above: pc is an open platform. a developer can pledge allegiance to the PC, but is not legally bound to it like the developers of xbox, wii, or ps3 games. this is why the PC loses exclusivity of many series and it is why its not really that big of a deal if a pc series (like the witcher, stalker, etc.) starts going multiplat compared to how big a deal it is for a series originally exclusive to (a) console(s) gets released on other systems. the pc exclusive argument, as i've pondered and came up with my own solution, is flawed and i stated the reasons just above.

Quick question. Why aren't mods available in consoles? Is it due to the restricted operating system? Just curious. My son has been gaming more and more on the PC, and that what he usually says, it has mods, or can be modded.

Mhmmm, hence why I didn't touch on the similarities in shape or colour. Both colour theory and shape theory outline quite a lot of information. Overall shape is similar, however I said inspiration can be drawn from something, and yet overall something can be unique. Colour is also similar. The actual armour touches on completely seperate designs, which look fairly similar.

Now, I also stated a question wondering why they're generic due to one faction looking similar.

Anyway, this all got out of whack when you focussed on this singular aspect of the game (which is not even a large part of it). Overall, the games art designs are quite different.

Probably restrictions by the company, and avoid possibility of malicious code. In addition, a lot of mods are graphics mods that make games look better or different so consoles probably couldnt handle those types of mods.

Usually? How many bad PC ports have there been. I don't think "usually" is the right word to use.

It's usually PC port that came after the console, of course.Games such as Resident Evil 4, Gears of War, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, Grand Theft Auto 4, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry 3 and to some exent Call of Duty: Black Ops. There will always be patches released but that wasn't the case for the console versions majority of the time.

Consoles being a restricted platform in general and porting over PC mods can make the games unstable like UT3 for example some PC Mods were too much for the PS3.

Quick question. Why aren't mods available in consoles? Is it due to the restricted operating system? Just curious. My son has been gaming more and more on the PC, and that what he usually says, it has mods, or can be modded.

Simple answer: Consoles are closed systems and Pc's are an open based system. As in closed it means that the Company that created the consoles controls every aspect. They will not allow companies nor individuals alter or create custom software or change it without them knowing. Which is why Valve as an example does not like creating games and giving free updates on the 360 because MS wants to control every aspect and to make more money. Sony was also like this until Valve convinced them to do what they needed to produce a better gaming experience for gamers. Which in turn draws more in to use. Also another reason mods are not on consoles it the lack of flexibility in the console environment. With mods you alter files and data which is needed for modding and you can not alter game data on the disc and the install files on hdd's do not always contain all files for the game. Modding can cause instability and before you can fix the issue you have to revert the changes back and that on a console hdd is a pain.

There are games that are better played in consoles and there are games that are played better on PCs. And PC ports are usually terrible than the console version. But the PC arguably has a better online service. And so on and so fourth but I don't think that either of them are superior.

Jankarcop

According to gamespot multiplats are better on pc around "90% of the time"

....you like to make up alot of things don't you?

I do now? I usually don't take Gamespot scores as my main source. You should read some replies about this.

Don't know about the Sonic games or Black Ops, but Gears, GTAIV, and Assassin's Creed were not worse ports. Gears was significantly better, providing a whole new chapter to play in and GTAIV looks much better than the console versions.

It has less to do with gamespots scores, and more to do with common sense.

There a REASON they said that. The games, even the ones that are considered bad ports, stil usualy look and run better at the very least.

Many games nowadays are better as a couch experience.

You can approximate this experience with an HTPC but :

- It tends to be more time, money and effort than it's worth

- You lose out on the exclusives of a console platform

- You are forced to play online with people using kb/m, from your couch with a controller, it's not a fair game

Basically PC at a desk

Console at a couch

You get access to both exclusives, it's cheaper and better in every way.

If it's not that then PC ports are not as good as the console versions. There were a lot of problems/flaws in Gears of War (I'm looking at the save problem) until it actually took awhile to fix. As for GTA IV, I dislike the controls and it could not change it until they patched it(around a year after it was released).Didn't have a problem with San Andreas much. Well of course the graphics looks better on PC.

The controls were fine. Just because you didn't like them doesn't make it a bad port.

PC exclusives are fine if you like expansions, and budget titles padding your numbers.

If you like playing actual games as most people do (indicated by sales numbers).. then consoles certainly are the winning spot.

The only PC exclusives left that even PC gamers care to play are blizzard games.

Explained by great sales in other franchises, right?

Y'know, Stalker, Crysis, The Witcher, Half-Life, The Sims, etc, etc.

Dont know what y'know is (ironic yes) Crysis 1 & 2 are on console, the witcher 2 is coming to console... half life 2 is on console, most of the sims games are on console. Those arent PC exclusives.
