Now before I get lynched, I would like to say this is not a flamebaiting topic. I've been seeing some people in SW claim the PC is crap or the games suck or something like that. But I really want to get the bottom of why people are saying that. Why do THEY think the games suck, why do THEY think the PC is a crap format.
Basiclly for this topic, I kindly ask you to come up with a convincing opinion not just "hurr durr, PC sucks". Notice I bolded opinion, because thats what is it, an opinion.

I can only speak for myself. I think PC games are fine. In many ways a PC is capable of doing things that consoles just can't, such as good MMORPGs (which may change) and RTS. Even some of the best RPGs of all time were because of the advantage a keyboard offered as a control compared to a console controller with fixed buttons.
Having said that, for me, the PC is simply too much hassle and effort to really make it the focus of gaming. I like that a console is a standardized experience. People can argue all day about "freedom" and "customization" and whatever, but the reality is that with freedom and customization comes extra knowledge, work and effort on the part of the user to take full advantage. I don't want to be bothered with that. I want to buy a console, plug it in and use it knowing the games I play are standard and the best experience the developer planned to deliver. I don't want to have to tweak settings and nitpick over performance issues and textures and lighting effects to maximize the performance for my videocard or RAM. I don't want to sit there thinking that I'm getting an inferior verison of the game because myu hardware isn't capable of displaying the full game the developers designed and intended for those with better rigs.
Which then leads to upgrades and worrying about drivers and patches and whatever else.
There is something to be said about standardized hardware. I know it works as advertised, offers a reliable experience and just works as its supposed to without any real expectation from me the gamer. It is why I've converted to a Mac and have an ipad and will likely ditch my android for an iphone in the future. It is easy and simple and I honestly believe technology should work for ME, and not the other way around.
Granted, much of this has migrated to consoles as well (updates, patches, etc) and I don't like it there anymore than on PC. Maybe I will change and move to PC in the future, I'm open to the possibility. But for now I just don't feel that it is for me other than small indie type games and the occassional game I can't play on consoles (like SC2). For those who like playing around with PCs and working with them, good on them. But to argue that is the only "real" gaming experience (while arguing with all other PC users about what cards are better or who paid how much for what, etc) is ignorant fanboyism in its own right because it fails to see anyone else's POV.
I would also add that I am on a computer all day long 5 days a week. It isn't exactly fun for me to then come home and in my spare time sit in front of a computer some more. I also feel that there is something more welcoming and relaxed with console gaming due to the connection of the living room. Sure, as some have probably already pointed out, PCs can be hooked up to TV and you can buy special controllers or whatever. But again, that is just more for me to worry about. Our PC is primarily for work related purposed, web browsing, etc. I don't want that to invade my living room and I also don't want to have to keep moving it around from room to room any time I want to play a game vs work.
PC has its place as do consoles. For me, the PC is not the gaming experience I want for the most part. Console are.
