Sucks to be you. My PC is more powerful than your Mac and probably cost less. I can play more games on it as well as use a far greater range of software. Have fun paying more to be more limited.
... Also interested in all of the software not available via boot camp.Ha. I love how people talk about how great Apple products are, yet the only way to get them that way is jailbreaking and using boot camp. If you want an open source PC, just get a Linux based PC or just go with a Windows PC that is far more open than a Mac by default, no boot camp needed.
Also, how much did that Mac cost? As I said, mine is more powerful and less expensive, 100% sure of that.

Why are we on System Wars if not to fight with each other and watch others fight?
Besides, I'm not on my good PC when browsing through Gamespot or System Wars. I'm at work or at a friends/with the family just bored.

Now before I get lynched, I would like to say this is not a flamebaiting topic. I've been seeing some people in SW claim the PC is crap or the games suck or something like that. But I really want to get the bottom of why people are saying that. Why do THEY think the games suck, why do THEY think the PC is a crap format.
Basiclly for this topic, I kindly ask you to come up with a convincing opinion not just "hurr durr, PC sucks". Notice I bolded opinion, because thats what is it, an opinion.

I can only speak for myself. I think PC games are fine. In many ways a PC is capable of doing things that consoles just can't, such as good MMORPGs (which may change) and RTS. Even some of the best RPGs of all time were because of the advantage a keyboard offered as a control compared to a console controller with fixed buttons.
Having said that, for me, the PC is simply too much hassle and effort to really make it the focus of gaming. I like that a console is a standardized experience. People can argue all day about "freedom" and "customization" and whatever, but the reality is that with freedom and customization comes extra knowledge, work and effort on the part of the user to take full advantage. I don't want to be bothered with that. I want to buy a console, plug it in and use it knowing the games I play are standard and the best experience the developer planned to deliver. I don't want to have to tweak settings and nitpick over performance issues and textures and lighting effects to maximize the performance for my videocard or RAM. I don't want to sit there thinking that I'm getting an inferior verison of the game because myu hardware isn't capable of displaying the full game the developers designed and intended for those with better rigs.
Which then leads to upgrades and worrying about drivers and patches and whatever else.
There is something to be said about standardized hardware. I know it works as advertised, offers a reliable experience and just works as its supposed to without any real expectation from me the gamer. It is why I've converted to a Mac and have an ipad and will likely ditch my android for an iphone in the future. It is easy and simple and I honestly believe technology should work for ME, and not the other way around.
Granted, much of this has migrated to consoles as well (updates, patches, etc) and I don't like it there anymore than on PC. Maybe I will change and move to PC in the future, I'm open to the possibility. But for now I just don't feel that it is for me other than small indie type games and the occassional game I can't play on consoles (like SC2). For those who like playing around with PCs and working with them, good on them. But to argue that is the only "real" gaming experience (while arguing with all other PC users about what cards are better or who paid how much for what, etc) is ignorant fanboyism in its own right because it fails to see anyone else's POV.
I would also add that I am on a computer all day long 5 days a week. It isn't exactly fun for me to then come home and in my spare time sit in front of a computer some more. I also feel that there is something more welcoming and relaxed with console gaming due to the connection of the living room. Sure, as some have probably already pointed out, PCs can be hooked up to TV and you can buy special controllers or whatever. But again, that is just more for me to worry about. Our PC is primarily for work related purposed, web browsing, etc. I don't want that to invade my living room and I also don't want to have to keep moving it around from room to room any time I want to play a game vs work.
PC has its place as do consoles. For me, the PC is not the gaming experience I want for the most part. Console are.
Special controllers? An xbox controller is literally plug n play for windows. Same for hook7ng up Wireless
Get a 2nd pc for the living room
" I don't want to sit there thinking that I'm getting an inferior verison of the game because myu hardware isn't capable of displaying the full game the developers designed and intended for those with better rigs."
so you buy the console version which will be even worst?
also games can automatically detect settings based on hardware and Nvidia geforce experience makes it even more simple

Good luck matching this sexinessI think the most common reason Consolites fail to build their own gaming pcs is not because they don't have the money its because their just too lazy, I bet your TV costs more than my whole PC (Which i bought for $450 less than what PS3 was at launch)Cost and time. To make a good gaming PC, you need money and a lot of time to research into the best parts. I'm not so much into gaming that I'll drop more than a few hundred bucks into a system.

I got my TV off of a neighbor's front lawn. It's an 8 year old standard definition Sony Trinitron. I've also been unemployed for 4 months.
Gaming's just a hobby to me. I don't want to invest money I need to pay off student loans and my car into a PC I really don't need.

It's not as hard as you might think.
You have to spend probably at least a half hour to an hour reading a tutorial. That should give you the basic knowledge to not only find parts, but build the PC as well, and you have the benefit of being a part of a gaming community where you can simply ask "Does all of this hardware work together?" if you still doubt your knowledge.
That's what I did way back in 2004. I read a tutorial, and put together a simple PC soon afterwards. Even though I haven't built a PC in years I could still go find a list of parts for a computer, and despite all the new hardware that's out there I could put together a 100% compatible build within minutes.
With regards to cost it's not too much of a stretch. If you consider the cost of whatever console you own, and whatever PC you own, I'm willing to bet it costs more than a gaming PC, and there are just so many cheap forms of gaming on the PC that I've actually found to be the most affordable route for gaming. Just looking at the front page of Steam there is a THQ collection with 21 games in it for $25, there's an indie pack with 30 games in it for $70, and so on. It's true these are holiday sales, but in general PC games will always be cheaper than console games. Plus there are the free to play games like TF2, and League of Legends which I've personally sunk about 2000 hours into across both without paying a cent to do so.
Now I am personally against the idea of someone buying a PC without any idea what they're getting into, but if you own a PC, even if it's a piece of crap, I guarantee it can still run tons of games especially because you have access to 30 years of PC games.
It's worth checking some stuff out. Check out some free2play multiplayer games, check out the indie scene, check out GOG.com (the greatest place for old PC games), and sometimes even just find a free game given out by a dev. For the 25th anniversary of Megaman Capcom gave PC gamers Street Fighter X Megaman which is a Megaman platformer, but with Street Fighter characters as bosses. It's pretty cool.

You would be really surprised at how far a low end computer can go on the PC.
Not only because the system has a 30 year long list of titles to choose from, but also because there are so many hundreds of indie games that do not need much to run.
Not to mention that, given how you can scale PC games down graphically, it's very possible to play even some newer, full-fledged games, but you just need to lower the quality.
It's not necessary to own a gaming PC in order to play PC games.

Pretty much. PC gaming is about choice, and owning a Mac doesn't really mean anything. It's static hardware, sure, and when you want to upgrade you'll have to buy a whole new system, but I've had the same computer hardware for the last 3 years, and the next time I upgrade I guarantee I'll buy a whole new PC.
That IS the choice. Static hardware or upgradable hardware, laptop or desktop, tv or monitor, Mac or PC, etc.

There are also so many hundreds of free games, or sub-$10 games out there that it's not too expensive to get started.

Dedicated video cards aren't important, however if you have one of those Asus EeePC type thingies then you can't really play any games.
PC has a 30 year long backlog, and has a crazy amount of indie support, and many more low-profile games.
You could, at the least, try out some demos on your current laptop for modern games just to experiment with what it can run. I'm willing to bet you'd be surprised.
I've got a terrible laptop myself that I bought for $300 a couple years ago, and it's got some games on there. I know I put The Witcher on there at least.
