3. The XBL online is much more friendly for multi-player.

BlazeDragon132

The others fair enough, but the 3rd is total BS.

Hell STEAM alone >>>>>>>>> XBL - thanks to the addition of communities and loads of other fancy things. Bundled with Xfire and its a killer combo.

Sorry forgot to impliment user friendly and compatability issues aren't an issue for consoles. EX: microphones, graphics cards, etc.Bleh more than I want to mess with thanks. I'll just pop the disc in and play.

Actually no.

Steam is increadably user friendly - and there are not any compadibility issues - as I said which explains 13 million users.
There are how many XBL Gold users?

Looks like you have detracted your argument from 'much more friendly for multiplayer' to 'my PC cant run it'.

Tsk tsk.

The only problem I have with Steam is that you need online to play SP games. So if your internet is down, you can't play Half Life, which sticks.

Hell no.

You can log in offline.

Hell I did it all the time in 04 and 05, when I had DSL, that wasent constantly on.

I want the achievments and I can always just buy Team Fortress 2 on Steam for 30 bucks instead of 50... I mean what is the point when I have HL2 on Steam already?

HL is a SP game, so KB+M has no real effect, same with portal. Only thing PC has a big impact on is TF2, which is MP and mods.

skrat_01

Actually playing HL2 on hard - a KB/M makes things so much better. This is comming from someone who was playing through the Minerva SP mod (fan freaking tastic) yesterday after a Halo 3 online bout. The difference is unbelievable.

And you can buy the Black box over Digital Distribution - EP2 + TF2 + Portal for a measly amount.

Oh and MODs.

Still if you swing that way, mmmkay.

Like I said, I have HL2 and all the mods in glory.

Episode 1 and 2 just fill in the story, so that isn't really needed. Portal is 1 to 2 hours so that isn't much done with that. TF2 is the main draw of the PC version due to mods for maps and characters.

Like I said, I will probably buy TF2 via Steam and just get Orange Box for 360 to finish episode 1 and 2 and portal for the SP experience.

I actually think that HL2 will suit consoles very well if they do it right, it's relatively linear and simple game, even the PC version had consolish loading times between the relatively small levels so the lack of Ram shouldn't limit it on consoles. TF2 on the other hand will be better on PC just for the Kb/M, online community and dedicated servers.

I would agree with that, TF2 will be better on PC. That is why I am buying it alone.

Enjoy your game - but do take a look at the arguements people use to cover for their true reasons for being adverse to the PC version. "I'd rather play on my couch" implies a lack of knowledge, and denying the PC is sofa-able, why, other than self-deception? I'm not calling you a liar, you have a constraint, so you play on 360 - but others do not have a constraint (these are the people the TC was addressing) and it's a worthwhile point. "I prefer consoles" is at least likely an honest answer, "PCs don't work with home theater equipment" isn't.
subrosian
Agreed. But, people are stupid. But, if lying to themselves makes them happy, then so be it.

Also, it's easily arguable that the only thing that really makes the PC superior is TF2 will be limited on consoles.

An elitist is someone who recognizes that most people don't give a **** about the truth, they just want to be happy. The only reason some people are so drawn to converse with such a "kill joy" is that they fear deep inside themselves that they might be wrong.subrosian
I never thought of that. You think an elitist is just someone that recognizes that people live within lies? I disagree. I think elitists are ones that think that being right, or a perfectionist, is the way to happiness. Which doesn't work.

I don't get confusing open-mindedness with indecisiveness.

Open-mindedness to me means: People will do whatever they want to make themselves happy, or to get high, or to enjoy something, or whatever. And that's okay with me, as long as their enjoyment doesn't interfere with what I seek.

Indecisiveness is the inability to make decisions, something I am very very aware of, and possibly the only thing keeping me from being a perfect human. As, in every other way, I am magnificent. not really, but, i'm confused as to how these two things could even be confused? They're different. Not in the same circles.

And, thanks. I will enjoy it, as I haven't played it yet. I started it on my roommate's laptop and it was glitchy and Steam had problems.

My reasons for getting it on 360:

1. Girlfriend got it for me. It's free.

2. Achievements.

3. I like to use a contro.....

Phew, I almost left myself open for some mindless ridicule.

4. I'll buy TF2 for the PC when the time is right for me, like after I've played through The Orange Box (360) and then move on to Call of Duty 4 for a couple months (at least).

Id say Ep2 is a major drawcard for PC gamers over console gamers - as they want to continue the series that they had been playing since 98'.

And TF2 is another major drawcard - and yes the mods are damn awesome. As for Portal - Well the modding and custom maps will be awesome.

Seriously if your PC isnt up to scratch nab the Orange box on 360, or just get the black box on PC - and you have more dandy visuals, better online, better controls and the whole community features all there.

And imagine how awesome Gary's mod will be with all the Ep2 things added to it. Hunter A.i battles omg.
Oh and for other SP mods that are offshoots of HL2 Sp - Minerva, rock 24 and much more - these are as good as HL2 SP - the SP is damn damn awesome.

Still if the 360 floats your boat fair enough.

The 360 version is just as good as the PC version, taken from the Eurogamer review of Orange box,

review

they gave the PC and 360 version 10/10 by the way, let people play the game on whatever system they want, some people just don't do PC gaming...me

skrat_01

Well 5.1 systems are quite common with PCs nowdays - hell ive had 5.1 on my PC since 04', and you can hook your PC up to a large TV no problems.

The PC version is far superiour in many instances - yea I could be an obnoxius prick and list them, but I'll isolate one point why the PC version kills the console ones - rendering them vastly inferior.

Mods.

The amount of AMAZING HL2 mods is astounding. No really its worth getting HL2 just for the mods - there are soo many that are so good - and so many that are better than full retail games.

Even my 9600XT runs HL2 on high settings.................

But if you swing the way of the consoles only.......... Well its a pity your missing out - but at least you are getting the best FPS ever on your luvverly console :)

I don't care for mods, never have. I'm not here to argue with hermits, I don't like them so I would rather do other things than argue with their inflated egos. we get it everything is better on PC and consoles are ****

carry on thinking your PC games give you more fun than something on a console, but you're only lying to yourself as it's never been true. There are many console games that equal the best on PC. And I would even say better many PC games, but like I said I'm not going to get into details as hermits can't discuss things like normal people.

Simple. I like to sit on my couch and look at my 40' lcd than sit at my computer desk and look at my 19' lcd monitor...

Magical_Zebra

That's a pretty big typical excuse Lemmings have been saying lately. I hope it doesn't become a trend.

Why? because you can connect your PC to a LCD TV? Not many do, if any. K&M on lap = crazy talk

I thought about that. But Im not bringing my pc into my living room....... ;)

It would just look tacky as hell with my pc in the living room, not to mention you have to put the K&M somewhere...

my pc is in my office. i have a dvi to hdmi cable that runs under the floor to my tv. then i have a wirless keyboard and mouse that is velcroed to a lap pad so i can play games on my 46 inch tv when i want to.

Talking in games is over rated, most people have nothing of value to say, just lots of mumbling and heavy breathing with the odd swear word thrown in when they don't get what they want.

It's kinda strange being in a Halo 3 lobby, everyone's got ther mic plugged in but no one talks, people just want to play . they don't want to make small talk with people they don't know and can't see.

smokeydabear076

I guess I am not alone when I say that no one talks on XBL anymore. The talk on XBL is just as relevant as typing LAWL U R A STUPID NOOB on the PC.

I think its just that one game because everytime when I play gears online, people are always talking.

Why I'm getting the Orange Box for my 360 rather than my PC:

1) My Computer sucks - on my PC I won't be able play the Orange Box with the best graphics possible, but I can with my 360. Not only that, my computer has never had the best loading times when it came to games so why not play it on something that was designed to play games: the 360.

2) I'd rather play on a larger screen - I want to say my computer monitor is 17" and I have a 27" TV in the same room. You do the math...

3) I prefer the game controller over the mouse and keyboard - I know that sounds crazy, but I find the controller to be much more natural when I play video games.

Isn't it great that the PC can use your 360 gamepad and be played from a TV? So really, the only viable thing you said was that your PC sucks.

People talk on Live all the time plus if I am on the Xbox I only play with friends. There was a time when I had friends that played PC games but not anymore. The voice is just a lot more annoying on PC since it can only come through your speakers and notjust the headset like it is with Xbox Live. So when people start cursing and using the N word it can be really annoying since it comes through the speakers.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"] Sure they are. Bestbuy carries them in the TV section.Vandalvideo
Cost? ... now I'm just curious,I looked it up online, it seemed to be at least 50.

Last time I was down there and bought my DVI -> HDMI one for 60 bucks they had them for like 35-40. Thats not a lot of money.

Not cheap, either.

I refused to buy component cables for the PS2 for that price :P.

[QUOTE="slothboyadvance"]2) I'd rather play on a larger screen- I want to say my computer monitor is 17" and I have a 27" TV in the same room. You do the math...3) I prefer the game controller over the mouse and keyboard - I know that sounds crazy, but I find the controller to be much more natural when I play video games.Vandalvideo
Isn't it great that the PC can use your 360 gamepad and be played from a TV? So really, the only viable thing you said was that your PC sucks.

I'm fairly sure I wouldn't be able to hook up my PC to my TV. I don't want to have to buy a $20 adapter just to use my 360 controller can play on a crappy computer. I am perfectly aware of all of this, it just seems like a waste of time and money when I already have a machine that can play the Oarange Box.

I don't understand why some Hermits (not you specifically, so please don't be offended) have a hard time believing that some people such as myself prefer playing video games on a video game console with a controller rather than using my controller. My reasons for choosing consoles over PCs spans much more over screen size and what type of controller I'm using, but I prefer the games on consoles much more than I do on the PC. I prefer games I can't get on the PC like the Mario series, the Sonic series, Super Smash Bros, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Twisted Metal, Tekken, Soul Calibur, and many more. The PC is no better than consoles and consoles are no better than the PC, it's all about preference.

Cheapskate. I personally would think that with console fannies screaming about their OMG TVS and OMG couches they'd be willing to spend 35 bucks on the cables. I know I had to buy extra cables for my PS3 and 360. PS3 didn't even come with HDMI. ANGRY PANDA.

So you reasons are mere preference and frugality. Hardly convincing reasons.

Hey as long as you admits its mere preference and not try to pull the vague PC misconceptions card again I'm perfectly content.

What if all you have at your house is a Dell family computer and you can't build a new comp?

I got an HDMI cable for 7 bucks! woot. Now I can watch upscaled DVDs. Though I probably won't because I'm scared to use the 360. :P

The way you stated the following: "I prefer larger TVs, and not small computer monitors" and "I prefer controllers over keyboard and mouse." Imply that you were statign the PC can not perform these functions. They can, simple as that.

Whoops, my bad. I forget that I have to be less vague in these heated arguments over consoles and PCs.

I don't see why anyone would really want to anyways. It's so much nicer being at a desk, much more personal, but, that could change if I actually tried playing on a TV.

When will people figure out that everyone has their own unique preferences? Not everyone wants to hook their PC up to a TV, not everyone wants to play with a keyboard and not everyone has a capable PC. Basically not everyone wants to play games on a computer and that is a fact. Criticising someone for preferring a console over a PC is just plain foolish.

I wish PC Gamers elitists would just settle down with their complex. Half-Life 2 is a fantastic game, no matter which version you'll be playing.

Let people buy the one they're most comfurtable with. I'll be buying the orange box for my Xbox 360, I don't have to rig to run Episode 2 on max settings, and I like using it on my large TV and playing on my couch. It's simpler, that's all.

I hope you're not implying that we're all elitists, because that shows a general lack of knowledge.

I don't mean all hermits, but it sure seems like a lot.
