there's nothnig "next gen" about it though. ChiefFreemanWho cares? A great game is a great game. Adding meaningless labels won't change that.
Every Paper Mario game has been awesome.SmashBrosLegend
Exactly. It will be another awesome game which is all that matters.
there's nothing "next gen" about it though. ChiefFreeman
Thats pretty sad then that a non "next" gen game as you call it is better than pretty much the entire 360 library.....
there's nothing "next gen" about it though. ChiefFreemanThen I guess you're not much of a classic gamer.
[QUOTE="ChiefFreeman"]Nintendo is lazy, they don't try to reinvent their franchises. Rehash after rehash. Do something new. That series is old and tired.web966Do you know anything about SPM? Its a 2d/3d Platformer RPG. Isnt that something new? Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. have been done to death. Nintendo, when will you learn?
Nintendo is lazy, they don't try to reinvent their franchises. Rehash after rehash. Do something new. That series is old and tired.ChiefFreemanThe last two Paper Mario games were pure RPGs. This one is a platformer with RPG elements. That's about as different as it can get while remaining part of the same series. You are complaining about a game you know nothing about.

This paper mario is a complete reworking of the old PM system. How is that not reinventing?
don't even waste your time.....just another stone-wall minded fanboyyes, to me it is a big deal. Nintendo doesn't care about visuals at all.ChiefFreemanSuper Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 disagree.
there's nothing "next gen" about it though. ChiefFreemanYou keep your shooters and stuff.
I like some good RPGs, and this will be one. Early european reviews have gone as high as 9.5
Whats next-gen about any Xbox 360 game? Better graphics. Okay. Super Paper Mario has better graphics because its on the Wii in 480p EDTV.
And it offers a new way to play the game. Does your Xbox 360 offer a new way to play that isn't the same as your old regular Xbox controller?
Didn't think so.
yes, to me it is a big deal. Nintendo doesn't care about visuals at all.ChiefFreemanThere's this little thing I like to call "art style".
Even though it isn't next gen, it will still sell a lot more then most of the 360's library. so, you can't really talk because microsoft's library sucks. Oh, and if you don't have a wii, why should you care about a wii title?
Everybody join the naruto union. It's awesome!
We were giving decent reasons without that outburst, please delete it.Even though it isn't next gen, it will still sell a lot more then most of the 360's library. so, you can't really talk because microsoft's library sucks. Oh, and if you don't have a wii, why should you care about a wii title?

yes, to me it is a big deal. Nintendo doesn't care about visuals at all.ChiefFreemanThat's because you play games, not look at them.

correction, you LOOK at games while you play them, and most Nintendo games don't look too good. Save for Re 4 and Metroid.

yes, to me it is a big deal. Nintendo doesn't care about visuals at all.ChiefFreemanShows how much you actually knwo about the presentation of video games in terms of visuals. There's more than one component to it and one of them is visual style, something that the Paper Mario series has. And whether you think so or not but the series is far from old and tired. Not when you actually take the time to realize that it emcompasses platofrming gameplay as well as the unique ability from going to 2D to 3D.
Nintendo rides the coattails of its past success. Do something new like Microsoft did when they created a great new franchise (Gears of War). Or like Sony with the upcoming Heavenly Sword. ChiefFreemanI think Nintendo's continued use of their legendary franchises might have something to due with their ability to consistently deliver, and they have been giving us new franchises every year. Is there some other Nintendo you're talking about, because you seem to be wrong about who I'm talking about every time....
there's nothing "next gen" about it though. ChiefFreemanIt doesn't matter if the game's good. And Paper Mario is great.

Oh look, another shooter... I can add it to my collection of 13890 other shooters with miniscule differences.
SPM is different from any other game.
I fail to understand why Gamespot has devoted so much coverage to another Gamecube title that was converted to the Wii. Big deal. A Mario rpg with lackluster graphics, and this time you wave around a wiimote to control him. Wow. Nintendo is just knocking my socks off with these rehashed Gamecube titles. I'm glad I own an Xbox 360.ChiefFreemanGamespot devoted so much coverage to the game because there is so much GAMEPLAY to cover! Which is rare in the industry as of late, most games are psuedo-movies that dont have enough gameplay to provide enough content for more than a simple preview/review. Just because this game may have originally been envisioned as a GC title doesnt mean its any less of a game, any less quality, than other games out there. The fact is that the gameplay is far deeper than most similar titles. Its graphics are hardly lackluster; they are extremely stylish, visually engaging and vastly more superior than any combination of normal mapping and HD graphics could ever produce because art is more than just trying to make eveyrthing as "realistic" as possible. Plus the gameplay is far different than that of the previos games; its evolved in a huge variety of ways. You may be glad that you have a 360 but most of the titles availble to you have neither the style nor the deep satisfying gameplay that this mere "rehash" provides. Have fun blowing up stuff and watching the pretty visuals because thats pretty much as complex the gameplay will get. Simple minds require simple entertainment.....have fun with that. As a human being i take pride in the fact that i require more cerebral and intellectually engaging games than the vast majority of games that YOU have availble by virtue of owning a 360. Humans are supposed to reason; thats what makes us human. As such we become better humans by engaging in reason....something you can only do on a very small percentage of video games on your chosen system. You seem to epitomize what i refer to as the "lowest common denominator" consumer.
this thread is sad, not because it's intent is to bash a game I'm looking forward too...
but the intelligence level of it.
"it's not next gen" Are you kidding? I really hope so

Why would they stop making a series that sells?
And ever hear of Nintendogs? Pikmin? Or what about Project H.A.M.M.E.R? Disaster: Day of Crisis?
