Why is the wii the laughing stock of the gaming industry?

But if the games could have come out on an earlier console what's the point? I'm not saying that's true of the wii, but graphical leaps are what drive generations. We all want to see new and astounding graphics and the new possibilities that go along with them.

They could have made the wii an add on to the gamecube with not that much fuss. The odd game would suffer graphically for it but there's no point even discussing graphics and the wii, its quite far behind in graphics and fans of the wii don't seem to mind.

It's been done. Doom 3, Chronicles of Riddick, Ninja Gaiden. All look significantly better than most wii games and the top graphical wii games don't look significantly better. It's debateable whether they look better at all.

That fact alone speaks volumes about the wii's power. Comparing it to last gen technology and not being able to easily distinguish. Its more than graphics. It's amount of enemies/characters, it's AI, its game size and complexity.

That may be true. Doesn't change the fact that most of the games coming out for wii look really poor. When developers make an effort, they can actually impress. What was that one recently with the huge moon in the background? Forget the name now. But even Nintendo aren't bothering trying. Look at wii music. Looks like a piece of crap.

It doesn't look updated. I have the precedent that nearly all zelda games have the same story and gameplay. And mario karts, smash brothers etc etc.

Geez, is this thread World War 3 or what?

Having a poor online infrastructure, very little quality 3rd party support, behind graphically, lacking in genres, and periods of droughts, etc.. all couldn't be a reason on why the Wii is looked down upon to a degree

This is the only real valid argument against the wii I see in here so far.... and for the most part I agree with all of that, still love my wii though even if for just mario and zelda!

Metroid Prime 3 about 6 weeks ago. I've tried, I really have, but there's very little worth getting and I've researched.

Even though I think MP3 is one of Wii's best, I only just got it second hand because it wasn't worth the entry price before.
