Hardware FailuredestefI don't think you realise this, but most casuals are not going to hear about those kinds of things. Its all over the internet, but its not on MTV now is it.
Hardware FailuredestefWhile a problem, i dont think the average Joe Gamer who walks into Walmart knows about this...

HARDWARE FAILURE
:| I suppose thats a bit better then software failure, but you still aren't getting the point, only the hardcores and those who explore the web about the subject are going to know about the failure issue.release halo 3ShatinPretty much everyone who wants Halo 3 already owns a 360. Gears of War pushed them to get it.
[QUOTE="Shatin"]release halo 3Carmilla31Pretty much everyone who wants Halo 3 already owns a 360. Gears of War pushed them to get it. again with the casuals. Casuals probably didn't hear much about Gears unless it was from a friend or they played it. Casuals know about halo and they know its gunna be big.

What is suprising is not the slow 360 unit sales, what is suprising (imo) is the crazy good attach ratio of games to systems sold. There may not be many owners but the people that do own it buy games like mad.
Serious doubt about the long term gameplan. Sony and Nintendo have previous success that consumers can remember.TekkenMaster606OMG, do you people not read what im saying. Casuals aren't going to care, they usually go to a certain console when a big name is announced such as halo. GC failed and look at how many people are buying the one with the magic wand now everyday. Casuals go to what is cool and popular.
I believe it's because of the hardware failure rates, the casuals are not buying 360s thus it is the hardcore gamers that are purchasing the console. And the hardcore market follow gaming news, and learning of an astounding failure rate is a very big turn off.DualshockinNobody knows about the crappy hardware except the people that you hand out anti-360 pamphlets to at the airport.

About 95% of the peoplewho wants Halo 3 already has a 360, so it wont sell alot more, maybe 1000 consoles.
Meanwhile, PS3 hasn't sold well because everyone is waiting for the good games, thats what people seem to forget and they bash it for absolutely no reason.

Well im glad we have some real statistics now. That ends the debate. As for the second part about PS3  keep kidding yourself. Its the price buddy.
The Wii is a console juggernaut pretty much demolishing everything. The PS3 is selling like garbage for two reasons, price and lack of games. So whats the 360s problem? The 360 has been selling 'ok' since its launch. It has awesome games, awesome graphics, and is priced pretty darn well for what you get. So why isnt it getting above average sales? The 360 isnt showing anything other than a console that will finish a meek #2 to the Wii. I really cant understand what the 360 can do better than what its currently doing...Carmilla31
Casuals are cheap, £280 is still too much for them to pay, expect better sales around Xmas and after Xmas 2007.

:| I suppose thats a bit better then software failure, but you still aren't getting the point, only the hardcores and those who explore the web about the subject are going to know about the failure issue.Okay, get this. I am in a Wal Mart today actually I was at this same Wal Mart last week too. I go over to the games area to see if there is anything new out for the 360 or some price drops or something. Guess What???? The Xbox 360 sitting there in the display case for everyone to see and supposedly play has what??? You guessed it, the Dreaded Ring of Death. How many people/kids/casual gamers do you think may have seen that in a 2 week period?? Bet they were wondering what the problem was.
One other thing. I dont know about most people, but I usually investigate something on the internet before I spend $400+ on it. People use the internet more than you think. Especially if you are a casual gamer. I would expect they would look up info on the internet on all three systems and then makea choice. And what do you think the people at Gamestop and Bestbuy and Circuit City are going to tell these people when they ask them for their input? Yeah, I know they just want their money. But some of them are actually helpful and tell the truth. A very small minority I agree. But, hey.
the price factor can't be overlooked. even if it's a good deal, it's still expensive.CaseyWegner
So that means the PS3 is doomed then.

So you are using a demo display as your example :| well get this, ive never seen a working ps3 in ANY store, and the DS's are always scratched and broken... and the wii's :| THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE CONTROLLERS! The PS3 at my gamestop/eb gameshas been broken for months. That's a fact. Livonia Michigan Haggerty rd location. Call them if you do not believe me. In fact most of the times those display case consoles are broken no matter what system it is so you fail

Back to the begining again. **HARDWARE FAILURE**
You failed, get out of here.Price. Consumers have never been willing to pay as much as the 360 and PS3 cost for consoles.
Also .......Game Variety (and somewhat hardware failure as well)

You failed, get out of here. That's why the Xbox 360 won't win ever...
It's time for the Lemmings to prepare the worst. Halo 3 won't save you. There was about 4 million preorders yet no significant console selling increase. It's been a 1 and half years and it barely sold 10 million.
I guess because the general public would rather pay $250.00 a console that plays teh mini-game collections and remakes with wii control tacked on........and still hasn't produced anything that is graphically head & shoulders above the Gamecube.joe_g_pattonCan we stop comparing it to the Wii? The 360 had a year head start, with no next gen competition, and still failed to get above average sales. Why couldnt it sell by itself?

And how's your PS3 doing again?
exactly cow. If lemmings have to prepare for the worse then cows have to prepare for extinction

Christmas last year the 360 ended up pushing over 100,000 units a week. That was with few awesome games at the time. This year, i imagine the same will happen only greater. Nobody shells out large sums of money for games consoles and the like in the middle of the summer. That's why nobody releases games in the summer. They all hold out for the christmas period.
This year, there'll be a cheaper 360, Halo 3, GTA4, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, BioShock; all kinds of killer games. Sales will increase hugely and it'll get the momentum it seems to have lost lately.
