The Wii is a console juggernaut pretty much demolishing everything. The PS3 is selling like garbage for two reasons, price and lack of games. So whats the 360s problem? The 360 has been selling 'ok' since its launch. It has awesome games, awesome graphics, and is priced pretty darn well for what you get. So why isnt it getting above average sales? The 360 isnt showing anything other than a console that will finish a meek #2 to the Wii. I really cant understand what the 360 can do better than what its currently doing...

it doesn't bring anything new to the table.  The best thing it has is online, and even that isn't revolutionary.

And because its facing the Wii

actually the 360 is doing well in the Uk and america and europe. where it fails is japan. and its not the 360's fault. It has japanese games. Just japanese gamers just dont want it. I think its mainly due to the fact, that japanese gamers dont like online games too much.

Because people are stuck in their ways. They've been using the PS controller for 10 years, and don't want to get used to a new one, so they'll just keep on plying their PS2 until the price drops on the PS3. Same reason some people still play NBA Live when NBA 2K is clearly the better game. They already know how to play EA Sports games, because they are the same every year so even though it's an inferior product people will buy. It's all they know. Sad but true.

Because casuals don't spend $400 on video games.

There was a reason the PS2 and Xbox were $150 at the height of their popularity.

Because it is only selling to it's hardcore base and still has no shot in Japan. Plus the fact that a lot of it's games are M rated shooters so it isn't really hitting any new audience.

It is made by Microsoft. The only reason Windows is popular is because its the standard that everyone has to live with, if it wasnt, Mac's would be the standard. People are loyal to the brands they trust, and not everyone trusts Microsoft, or they are just generally mad at how garbage Windows generally is and they refuse to buy a console from them.

Definitely the $400 price tag. Alot of people I know are turned off by the high price tag. Hopefully next-gen Microsoft and Sony will have learned their lessons. $300 is the sweet spot. $250 even better - just look at how well the Wii is doing.

again with the casuals. Casuals probably didn't hear much about Gears unless it was from a friend or they played it. Casuals know about halo and they know its gunna be big.

What is suprising is not the slow 360 unit sales, what is suprising (imo) is the crazy good attach ratio of games to systems sold. There may not be many owners but the people that do own it buy games like mad.

I believe it's because of the hardware failure rates, the casuals are not buying 360s thus it is the hardcore gamers that are purchasing the console. And the hardcore market follow gaming news, and learning of an astounding failure rate is a very big turn off.

OMG, do you people not read what im saying. Casuals aren't going to care, they usually go to a certain console when a big name is announced such as halo. GC failed and look at how many people are buying the one with the magic wand now everyday. Casuals go to what is cool and popular.

Bad marketing, i'd say. There are awesome Wii adverts all the time. You dont know the 360 exists until you walk into a games store.

most of the 360s fan base is into 1st person shooter games, and while those are very popular, the PS3 and Wii beat the 360 out when it comes to RPGs, action-adventure, or kiddy games.

About 95% of the peoplewho wants Halo 3 already has a 360, so it wont sell alot more, maybe 1000 consoles.

Meanwhile, PS3 hasn't sold well because everyone is waiting for the good games, thats what people seem to forget and they bash it for absolutely no reason.

Casuals are cheap, £280 is still too much for them to pay, expect better sales around Xmas and after Xmas 2007.

I don't think you realise this, but most casuals are not going to hear about those kinds of things. Its all over the internet, but its not on MTV now is it.

HARDWARE FAILURE

:| I suppose thats a bit better then software failure, but you still aren't getting the point, only the hardcores and those who explore the web about the subject are going to know about the failure issue.

Okay, get this. I am in a Wal Mart today actually I was at this same Wal Mart last week too. I go over to the games area to see if there is anything new out for the 360 or some price drops or something. Guess What???? The Xbox 360 sitting there in the display case for everyone to see and supposedly play has what??? You guessed it, the Dreaded Ring of Death. How many people/kids/casual gamers do you think may have seen that in a 2 week period?? Bet they were wondering what the problem was.

One other thing. I dont know about most people, but I usually investigate something on the internet before I spend $400+ on it. People use the internet more than you think. Especially if you are a casual gamer. I would expect they would look up info on the internet on all three systems and then makea choice. And what do you think the people at Gamestop and Bestbuy and Circuit City are going to tell these people when they ask them for their input? Yeah, I know they just want their money. But some of them are actually helpful and tell the truth. A very small minority I agree. But, hey.

The PS3 at my gamestop/eb gameshas been broken for months. That's a fact. Livonia Michigan Haggerty rd location. Call them if you do not believe me. In fact most of the times those display case consoles are broken no matter what system it is so you fail

Price. Consumers have never been willing to pay as much as the 360 and PS3 cost for consoles.

Also .......Game Variety (and somewhat hardware failure as well)

I guess because the general public would rather pay $250.00 a console that plays teh mini-game collections and remakes with wii control tacked on........and still hasn't produced anything that is graphically head & shoulders above the Gamecube.

That's why the Xbox 360 won't win ever...

It's time for the Lemmings to prepare the worst. Halo 3 won't save you. There was about 4 million preorders yet no significant console selling increase. It's been a 1 and half years and it barely sold 10 million.

Can we stop comparing it to the Wii? The 360 had a year head start, with no next gen competition, and still failed to get above average sales. Why couldnt it sell by itself?

Price, and the fact that it only appeals to shooter fans. If you want something other than shooters, then even the PS3 is better for you.

That's kinda sad.

Christmas last year the 360 ended up pushing over 100,000 units a week. That was with few awesome games at the time. This year, i imagine the same will happen only greater. Nobody shells out large sums of money for games consoles and the like in the middle of the summer. That's why nobody releases games in the summer. They all hold out for the christmas period.

This year, there'll be a cheaper 360, Halo 3, GTA4, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, BioShock; all kinds of killer games. Sales will increase hugely and it'll get the momentum it seems to have lost lately.

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]the price factor can't be overlooked. even if it's a good deal, it's still expensive.PoppaLemming

So that means the PS3 is doomed then.

not necessarily. it is currently in trouble though.

Price, and the fact that it only appeals to shooter fans. If you want something other than shooters, then even the PS3 is better for you.

That's kinda sad.

Well judging by the mounds and mounds of PS3's rotting on store shelves...

the PS3 appeals to NO ONE
