This is one quest in New Vegas. Look at the variety of skills it uses and the number of options you can do to complete it. This is leagues beyond anything ME2 does in the whole game.

Well, whatever Mass Effect 2 is doing, I like that more than New Vegas RPG elements.
Edit: I had a good laugh at the post above. Well played.
That's probably because you are both shooter fans, not RPG fans. TC is right, as an RPG NV is way, way better than ME2.
I agree. It's a pity that quest was so bugged - it's pretty much a manifestation of why New Vegas is hands-down the best RPG of this generation from a gameplay perspective.
You're talking to a guy who loves all kinds of RPG. Infact, I described in one of myposts that I've play ME2 more as an RPG...That's probably because you are both shooter fans, not RPG fans. TC is right, as an RPG NV is way, way better than ME2.

Better Game = ME2
Better RPG = FNVcoreybg
More like broken.
The better game is subjective.

So how did you do that? What does it mean that you played ME "as an RPG"?

No. Mass Effect 2 is a better movie than Fallout: New Vegas. As a VIDEO GAME, which is an entertainment media defined by interactivity, Fallout: New Vegas could flush Mass Effect 2 down an irradiated toilet.
I agree with this. ME2 was barely an RPG.^ ME2 leans more toward the shooter spectrum. 3/4 shooter, 1/4 RPG maybe.

New Vegas is probably a better RPG, but Mass Effect 2 is a far, far better game.TheOtherTheoG
That entirely depends on what people are looking for in a game.
For example, I prefer complexity and depth over polish and action, so I thought NV was a better game. Others disagree; it's a subjective claim.
Mass Effect 2 clearly wasnt as focused on Roleplaying elements like Fallout New Vegas was, in fact the RPG elements in ME2 were minimal.
Not only is Fallout New Vegas a much better roleplaying game, but it is also a much better game. Mass Effect 2 is one of the worst games I ever had to play, and after 5 hours in I was losing my will to continue and had to force myself to keep on playing.
Of course quality is subjective and I can understand why people like it, but if anyone says that the roleplaying in ME2 is deeper than that of New Vegas, then he is easily wrong.
If NV is so obviously a better RPG than ME2, then why did nearly every review publication unhesitatingly lavish ME2 as far and away the best RPG of the year? Oh wait, lol, the gaming press. What am I thinking? To IGN and Game Informer, a two-path good cop/bad cop character tree is a revolution in RPG design. /gagBrownesque
To tell you the truth, maybe because it it is too much like Fallout 3, and it has bugs and glitches. I think that is the reason they said ME2 was the best RPG of da year
In the genre, it is a step backward. Backward out of the genre and into other genres, where it excels to an extent far greater than its measure relative to the greatest RPGs of all time.Nah, the whining about the changes Bioware made in ME2 are ad infinitum, I just can't understand why people cry so much. Anyway, ME2 is not a traditional RPG, it's a step foward in the genre, I really can't see nothing that comes close to it.

I challenge you to relate one single way in which ME2 advanced the ROLEPLAYING genre.

Only thing I agree with is your sig
Cause shes from Chuck
Ahh as much of an WRPG new vegas might be it is still plagued with glitches and problems allot have been fixed But I'll be waiting another few months before I even touch that game.
Good thing that I don't sit there worrying about what genre a game is when playing it then.soulitaneAgreed. The "ME2 isn't a RPG" debate is about as pointless as the "Metroid Prime isn't a FPS" debate. Why do people insist on arguing such petty things? Surely theres better things to talk about, like Vanquish being a masterpiece (sorry, had to say it  )

Better combat. I also thought researching to upgrade the ships defences/attacks and your own weapons/armour was better than just finding a new weapon.pure rpgs are boring... hybrids are the way to gocampzorFallout New Vegas and Mass Effect 2 are both hybrids...

Oh you :P
But really, people saying ME2 isn't an RPG are just damage controlling. If you (not you Shake, just a general message here) didn't talk to everyone, that is to say interacted with your world, nor levelled up and managed your stats and character cIass, then you just did it wrong and fail at RPGs anyway.
