Consoles are a different playground, and I'm not interested. I'm 31, I don't like ninjas, cars, anime babes, anime AT ALL, choose-your-own-adventure JRPGs, fighting games or sports. Those aren't why I play games. Mass_Effect
You should really play a bigger variety of games
Dude. Consoles don't have any variety.
People with extreme gaming PCs seem to think they are getting a better deal and gaming experience than console gamers and dont seem to understand why people by consoles.
i buy gaming consoles because not only are they sooOOO much cheaper, but in a years time when your gaming PCs all dusty and struggling to play the new PC games even with your new $150 graphics card my console can still play the newest games. Has anyone got a PC that is as old as a ps2 that you havent spent **** loads upgrading? i think not.your the ones being ripped off.

PC gaming kicks butt! You know it, and you know you want a gaming PC. So why don't you learn to build one yourself and quit complaining.
Another AAA topic with a very smart Topic creater. Consoles don't need upgrades to keep playing games properly, lol so true.wok7
This is so true. Consoles don't need upgrades to keep playing. You just have to buy a whole new console just so that the console works ala Xbox 360 Extreme. Thank you for pointing that out! :P
PC gaming is bomb!starwarsgeek112
hell yeah it is!!!...but im on my 2nd PC and 4th graphics card in the past 6 years and that has sure made my wallet feel light...but the guy has a point, my PS2 has lasted me 7 years and more years to come.
Well, I do it partly because of 1. But also, just because I like popping a game in, not because I don't understand PCs, but I just like to pop a game in and play. And I prefer the game pad(yes, you can get one for the PC, but still, they're not very common in games), although, I'm very good at the keyboard.Ill tell you why people choose consoles over PC:
1) They games dont appeal to them.
2) They cant afford it (however, anyone that can buy either a PS3 or a 360 can afford to be a PC gamer)
3) They are ignorant.
There are no other reasons beyond that. Most, sadly, fall into #3.

1) They games dont appeal to them.
2) They cant afford it (however, anyone that can buy either a PS3 or a 360 can afford to be a PC gamer)
3) They are ignorant.
There are no other reasons beyond that. Most, sadly, fall into #3.

That's true. But I do experience MORE problems. Maybe you don't, but I do, I know games on consoles have problems too. But I experience less. And I just enjoy consoles more. They're simple, buy it and play games, with PCs, you have to what what you're buying, such as what CPU and GPU it uses. With a PS3, you don't. And that's fine that you like PCs, I don't care, but I don't see why I don't have the right to enjoy a console more, even if I do have misconseptions, that just shows how easier a console is, most people don't have misconseptions, because it's so easy. I have misconseptions about assembling mines, thus I don't do it. And that's great you don't have misconseptions. You're educated about it then, good, I'm not. And personally, I don't really care for getting educated about it. Just like I don't care about getting educated on how to paint, because that's not one of my interests, just like PC gaming isn't one of mine. wemhim
And thats why you fall largely on reason #3.

PC has multiplayer split screen games that can be played from "TEH COUCH" with a gamepad on the TV. NEXT. Using a keyboard on a couch to actually start up the game is fun. Oh, and a mouse. Maybe some people just don't like PCs, stop being so biased about it, that's fine if you like PCs, I really don't care. Personally, I don't like them(For gaming) a whole bunch. You don't need a keyboard WHATSOEVER in the operation of a PC. You can entirely use a gamepad even for typing if you so feel the need. The PC can do ANYTHING the consoles can do. You got me there. But, can it play Guitar Hero and the future MGS4? Does it matter? Do the consoles have Crysis, Hellgate London, Civilization 4, Rome Total War, etc? No. Individual games DO NOT make a difference. The PC's librray is straight up bigger. If there are games you can't find you don't like on the PC you are a biased biggot. No offense.c'mon guys, why do PC gamers keep insulting people on this topic, my first point still stands and most of you seem to of ignored it. In the long run PCs are so much more expensive to play new games on because all the upgrades required (unless you spend loads on a proper PC to start with).
[QUOTE="wemhim"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="wemhim"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="wemhim"][QUOTE="XaosII"]Well, I do it partly because of 1. But also, just because I like popping a game in, not because I don't understand PCs, but I just like to pop a game in and play. And I prefer the game pad(yes, you can get one for the PC, but still, they're not very common in games), although, I'm very good at the keyboard. *Does his misconception dance* Any and all PC games can support gamepads, thanks to Joy to Key. Not to mention PCs also have the ability to stream games from discs. NEXT I'm aware of that. They CAN support them, doesn't mean they will. Also, Show me MGS4 and RE5 on PC. Also, sure you can stream them, but I also enjoy not having to make sure my PC supports it, and not guess what FPS it runs at if it does. Also, maybe I only have an SDTV, and my PC doesn't have composite cables, so I can't hook it up to my TV. And I enjoy laying on a couch/bed and playing a game. Or maybe I enjoy plugging in a controller and then playing a game without getting plug-ins, or mapping out controls to fit the controller, or trying to make the 360 controller work for Mafia and have Tommy spin around in circles. Or maybe I find more bugs in PC games than console games, for some reason, GTA:SA always freezes during a loading screen and my computer restarts. Or maybe I would rather invest money in something that has more than Crysis and Black Mesa(Half Life in source), I'm not saying that the PC doesn't have a lot of AAA titles, it has more than consoles.... But that doesn't matter to me, that's others opinions. And maybe, even if I did have an HDTV to hook a PC up to, I wouldn't want to be laying on a couch using a keyboard and mouse. Also, some of my games don't support streaming off the disk, they require me to install first. Also, maybe I am a little ignorant when it comes to PC gaming, but then, I don't care, I would rather think about other things in life, I don't want to THINK about gaming, I want to do it, I'd rather think about more important things. I personally don't want to build my own PC, nor do I want to have someone else do it and figure out if that PC will run Half Life 2 at a certain FPS. For example, apperently my PC runs HL2 at Windows Game Advisor, pretty decent at that, but when I played it, for some reason my computer wasn't good enough to get passed the first chapter without locking up. Consoles aren't immune to problems either. They have lock ups, bugs, and incomplete games on release as well. The fact of the matter is the pc has the ABILITY to do anything the console can do. I could careless if you don't have an HDTV or SDTV. The PC can hook up to both. Its you're responsibility to buy the things to do so, just as its your responsibility to buy VGA cables or component cables for your consoles if you need them. The PC can do ANYTHING the console can do. And personally, I don't really care for getting educated about it. Just like I don't care about getting educated on how to paint, because that's not one of my interests, just like PC gaming isn't one of mine. Bestbuy will assemble it for you. The fact of the matter is PC gaming isn't innately more fragile. Its only equivalent to the ammount of incompetency the user has. I've enver had a problem with PC gaming, because I've never flipped out when it won't start up. I calmly just hit "Load previous best used settings" and instantly fixed. PCs can be just as simple as consoles...........if you take the effort to make them so. That's my point, that's cool that you take the effort. I'm just lazy. It depends on the individual. I don't care how easy it is either, because, to me, it isn't, and even if I could make it easy, I don't care, because the only reason I'm usually playing a game is because I have nothing better to do. If all my games were taken back to the store for no apparent reason, and I got my money back and for some reason I couldn't buy games. I wouldn't care all that much. I don't feel like putting any effort whatsoever into gaming. Just like I don't want to put an effort into eating an apple.Ill tell you why people choose consoles over PC:

Like I said before, you do not need to run games on max. /thread.[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Free2Forum: There are plenty of games like PES, Serious Sam, and Halo. I like how you sneaked in "same price as consoles". Look, PCs are more expensive up front, yes, but over time they may be less expensive. Face value is irrelevant.marklarmer
explain how PCs are less expensive in the long run? i refer you to the original statement that the ps2 has lasted how many years without hardware upgrades? how long does the average PC last without hardware upgrades?
WelIt all depends where you live. In Europe next-gen console games cost a about 25-30 $s more than PC ones. So in a long run PCgaming can be quite cheaper

Like I said before, you do not need to run games on max. /thread.Of course you do. Every console gamer plays their game on max too! They ALL have 60" HDTV's with properly calibrated TV"s and a 6.1 surround sound system that costs more than their house. I mean, console gamers just cant be satisfied without playing in these conditions.
i play console because games were meant for consoles, you can play with your friends in the same room, i like the controls better, it's simpler, you just stick the game in and play, and there are no problems like viruses and you never put a game in and have a black screen come up with only the audio or something like thatI can play PC games with my friends in the room.. why can't you?
happens to PCs all the time
by the way, i did used to be a PC gamer, ive had like 40 PC games starting with quake 3tarsier888
The only genre best on PC are RTSs and FPSs,.cobrax80
nonsense. I could just as well say that the only genre that is best on consoles are fighters. In reality besides RTSes and FPSes PC owns completely racing sims, simulators, puzzle, MMOs and adventure games

i buy gaming consoles because not only are they sooOOO much cheaper, but in a years time when your gaming PCs all dusty and struggling to play the new PC games even with your new $150 graphics card my console can still play the newest games. 1. Gothic 3 is now confirmed for 360 and probably PS3 too
2. Dragon Age has a 99.999% chance to arrive on 360 too
3. Crysis in some form will be on 360 as well
4. The MAIN reason i will buy all consoles in the end, and never a pc is what matters most, GAMES, can i play Fable 2, Mass Effect, FF13, White Knight, Ninja Gaiden 2, Lost Odyssey on PC ? No sir
I haven't upgraded in 3 years and I still run all games on max except Supreme Commander and NWN2, both of which are notorious for bad performance. In fact, I'm doing my first upgrade in three years next week: Dropping $100 on an X1900XTX, moving up from my current X800XL. So, three years ago I spent $942.57 (not counting the widescreen LCD which was a luxury purchase) and now I'm dropping $100 into it. $1042.57 over three years. Now in the fall or late in the year, I will be rebuilding. I figure ~$300 for a mobo and CPU (dual-core), and $130 for 2GB DDR2 RAM. A DX10 video card will run ~$200, and that will keep me set for a few more years. So a complete upgrade (I have over a TB of HDD storage on 4 SATA drives, don't need any more) is going to cost me ~$630. I get to use the same case, same HDDs, same DVD drive, and of course this monitor. I get to recoup some of the cost cause I know I can sell my old Mobo, CPU and RAM to a friend for ~$150. So, $480. Not to mention I'll probably sell my X800XL next week for $50, and the X1900XTX will probably fetch close to what I'm paying for it now when I do upgrade in the fall, probably will bring me $75-$100. So all told, a system upgrade will cost me ~$300 and some change.c'mon guys, why do PC gamers keep insulting people on this topic, my first point still stands and most of you seem to of ignored it. I cant belive how retarded of an argument you can make. You are "99.999% sure" that Dragon Age will go to the 360, but Mass Effect and Fable 2 arent?
And what the hell kind of a skewed argument are you trying to make comparing 3 systems to one. Yeah its a huge shock that 3 platforms have more games than one.... I dont recall PC being mutually exclusive with consoles.
And despite all that PC STILL gets more AAA titles every year than any other system.
