...When they're the company that gives back the most out of the 3? :?

Wii...90 Million sold.... = software has been in life support for quite some time now and will probably still be until Wii U release

Xbox 360...60 Million, Xbox Live Annual Fee.... = Kinect games for 2012?

I just don't understand :?

nitekids2004

I don't hate Sony. Even though I'm primarily a PC gamer, I have a Sony PSP1000, Sony Bravia, Sony MiniDV camcorder(yup, I still use it), PS2, and the kid's PS3 + portable media player. Heck. I'm a Sony junkie by the looks of it.

They have given us too many quality exclusives to buy this year in these tough economic times.

On these boards? I don't think anyone has anything against Sony really, just thier fanboys who are some of the most insufferable ones around ;)

(normal fans of Sony are quite ok in my book tho).

As for the console thing? Well They dominated the market for 2 gens, and now they are struggeling hard, for a second place, which some people take delight in, altho it is not really a good thing by default (not really a decidedly bad thing either since Sony came in thte black with the PS3).

So I think its a mix of those really.

Cows have been the vocal majority on this board for about two years. Since their exclusives didn't get nominated/win many awards, it seems many have gone into hiding. The attacks from other fanboys have steadily increased since the SW rules changed, and I suspect many of these ultra-lems are in fact fake boy PS3 fans just trollin' for the lollin'.

I don't dislike Sony's products, I dislike the dishonest people who run the company mostly. They are very good at lying and doing huge PR Spin for their products and then they will release a product that's no where near their vision. Then they will make excused and try to talk their way around and out of their lies. Sony won't bend over backwards to please their customer unless their backs are against the wall. The network outage is a perfect example. Because the whole issue was worldwide news Sony made sure they serviced their customers will free games and PS+. If this hadn't been worldwide new and just stayed within the forums, Sony would have done nothing for their customers. They would have just released announcement after announcement with vague information. Seriously, it took gamers to sue Sony before they fixed the DRE problem on the PS2. They kept saying the gamer was doing something to cause the error. Sony's practices are far from perfect.

microsoft put the 360 on the market when they full knew that it wasn't ready to be put on the market but because they wanted to get it out before the ps3 and because of that we had the RROD fiasco, say what you will about sony any company that does what microsoft did to its consumers thats disgusting.

Mainly because they try too hard to become MS

They spend all budget in random shooters and fail to touch the appeal PS1-2 had with games like FF7-8-9 etc

Right now PS3 has only one good exclusive for me, Demons Souls and Dark Souls is a 100x better game and Sony did not bother getting it as exclusive, but they would rather spend on another shooter

PS3 is as far away from PS1-2 as possible, 360 is way closer with actually good JRPGs like Lost Odyssey, all RPGs like Fable, Witcher etc etc, 360 is just a way better system for the kind of games i like best, which is adventures and RPGs and for shooters is still the best by miles too

Why should i like sony when their Fanboys are the most arrogant, sheepish and one eyed. They are exactly the same as apple fanboys.

I do enjoy some of sonys first party but a lot of them are very overrated by their own fans. Cough GOW3 COUGH

Whoa! Disliking a company just because of a fanbase is a little extreme, don't you think? That would be like me hating Sonic because of that series fanbase.

Not really.

Its really the other way about with MS taking big massive lifts from sony's strategy last gen and exploiting it to the max, now they are chasing the nintendo buck with some sucess.MS are the ones who chased Sony not the other way about, Sony was trying a futile attempt to get the western market instead of focusing on what they were good at and on top of that MS last gen only really had 1 big shooter franchise aswell which was halo.

Guessing your no older than bout 13.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]All three are hated on, and Sony gets hated on the least. It's nowhere near Microsoft (universal contempt) or Nintendo (universal dismissal). Sony fanboys are often the most vocal and obnoxious, so there might be the fact that it is just to shut them up (since they get under everybody's skin so much).Pug-Nasty

I see the least vocal hate towards Nintendo. I know a lot of people here dislike the Wii and whatnot, but they aren't bashed constantly.

I agree with both your points, but Sony does seem to do it on a more consistent basis. (They are probably all on the same level, it's just Sony likes to toot it's own horn quite a bit, which seems to blow up on them.)

I agree, everybody at some point does though.

But currently, Sony has been giving back the most to its core gamers. You can say Ninty and MSFT has somewhat abandoned their core, I can't say the same for Sony.

Their past isn't bad either.PS1 and PS2 are considered among the greatest consoles of all time.

nitekids2004

The problem is I mostly don't care for Sony's 1st party games, even though they are there in quantity this year. I can agree that they have the best exclusive lineup of the year, but that fact doesn't do anything for me specifically, it's not really a "win" for Sony from me cus I don't care for the games personally. I still enjoyed 3rd party multiplats much more which are avaliable on multiple systems. It's more like, sure you won, so? I'm indifferent. It's not gonna make me praise Sony or buy their games. To grab me they need to deliver software that is appealing to me.

Whether you like / dislikeSony games is one thing...

But their approach to giving back to core gamers?

Whereas Ninty and Microsoft seems to have shifted to another pasture, Sony is still giving back. That much is obvious.

So you want me to give credit to Sony for releasing games I don't like?

Your opinion of a company and the products they make is based on the silly behavior of a small group of their fans? Sorry, but that's just ridiculous.

Microsoft didn't lie about it. They actually didn't say anything about the RROD immediately. They didn't blame the users for the problem. They investigated and then reported the problem and offered a solution (3yrs warranty - free fix/replacement of RROD systems). Sony actually released statements claiming it to be a user issue. lol!! To me, that's way more disgusting. They did the same thing with the PS1 issues as well. When they did offer repairs for the PS1, they wanted users to pay for it. lol!! By that time it was actually cheaper just to buy another PS1, which I sure Sony was well aware of.

Sure they get some credit now, but I'm sure you are forgetting about the horrible software lineup they had for the first 2 years on the market. It took Sony almost 2 years to get a AAAE on the PS3 with MGSIV, whereas Microsoft's XBox 360 had 2 AAAE exclusive right at launch. Sure Microsoft doesn't have the huge amount of exclusives it had back in 2005 & 2006 today, but Sony didn't have those awesome exclusives in 2006 and 2007 either. It pretty much evens out when you think about it.

Maybe because they started this gen with the primary intention of pushing a media format instead of making a great game console. They were so concerned about making blu-ray the standard media format in the future for their own financial gain that gaming took the back seat. In my opinion that is a disgrace to gaming and no gamer should support them because of that decision.

I think you're missing the point here. The XBox 360, PS1 and PS2 all had significant hardware issues after they launched, it's how Microsoft and Sony handled the problem is what I'm talking about. I agree, the problem for all three of these systems should have never existed, but they did. I didn't get a PS2 until 18 months after it launched. By then the DRE issue was fixed. I got the XBox 360 at launch. It RROD about 15 months after that. Got the issue fixed for free and it's been fine ever since. I own 2 Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PS1, PSP, Wii, DS Lite, and 3DS.

Microsoft had tons of $$$ from Kinect sales, Xbox Live Fees, Hardware and Software sales. Instead of creating a more diverse library for core gamers, they're spearheading their funds to Kinect games instead. Sony, on the other hand, is giving it mostly back to core gamers. I won't even start with Nintendo. Seems like they've abandoned ship on the Wii and are instead focusing with the 3DS/WiiU after SS released. Sometimes I've gotta ask "What's the 90 Million units sales for?" :?

Not really. But don't we, as gamers, need to give credit to Sony that they are at leastgiving back to core gamers (in the form of a great 2012 software lineup)?

Zaibach

Sure they get some credit now, but I'm sure you are forgetting about the horrible software lineup they had for the first 2 years on the market. It took Sony almost 2 years to get a AAAE on the PS3 with MGSIV, whereas Microsoft's XBox 360 had 2 AAAE exclusive right at launch. Sure Microsoft doesn't have the huge amount of exclusives it had back in 2005 & 2006 today, but Sony didn't have those awesome exclusives in 2006 and 2007 either. It pretty much evens out when you think about it.

Because GS didn't rate them AAA doesn't mean they weren't great games unless you're willing to concede forza 4 is average.....

That could be said for every game that got AAE on the XBox 360 and Wii if that were the case. Still doesn't change the fact the PS3 took 18 months to score a GREAT AAAE game. The PS3 has received more AAAE in the last 2 years, then they did in their first 2 years. It's reversed for 360, which got most of it's AAAE it's first 2 years. The XBox 360 still has decent AAE games today, but cows don't acknowledge them as anything special.

Such a widespread problem should have never existed and clearly shows a rushed launch.MS was lucky with the 360 i didnt get a 360 until i knew it was fixed and the failure rates were low.

razgriz_101

Im not missing any point really its taken MS about 3 years to get RROD under complete wraps and the Slim revsio its non existant.Stil this gen its up there with the PSn fiasco with the biggest booboo's in gaming history.

Like I said, you're missing the point. I'm not talking about RROD, I'm talking about how Sony & Microsoft supported their customers during these hardware issues. That's my point. I could care less how long it took Microsoft to get RROD under control, they gave great customer support during that time and fixed all those systems for FREE. Something Sony didn't do easily. THAT'S THE POINT YOU'RE MISSING. Nuff said.

...When they're the company that gives back the most out of the 3? :?

Wii...90 Million sold.... = software has been in life support for quite some time now and will probably still be until Wii U release

Xbox 360...60 Million, Xbox Live Annual Fee.... = Kinect games for 2012?

I just don't understand :?

Why the hate for microsoft? Gotta be honest, microsoft update their console every fall with big changes, recently adding full voice control and better and fully integrated kinect support, web searching, youtube and more. In my eyes, MS is teh only one giving back to its customers.

XanderZane

microsoft put the 360 on the market when they full knew that it wasn't ready to be put on the market but because they wanted to get it out before the ps3 and because of that we had the RROD fiasco, say what you will about sony any company that does what microsoft did to its consumers thats disgusting.

When they did offer repairs for the PS1, they wanted users to pay for it. lol!! By that time it was actually cheaper just to buy another PS1, which I sure Sony was well aware of.

the hack was something they couldn't control, microsoft knew full well what they were doing, you can sit here and defend them selling you a faulty product just to get ahead but i'm not.

Well hardware issues don't really have to be related to reliability. I think it's the hardware of the PS3 that lost Sony this generation due to the lack of thought put behind it.

Hahahahaha! Pretty much.

I dislike Sony for reasons outside of gaming. I could go on about it but it has to do with the Blu-ray s*** show they created in the first 2 years. Basically, forcing me to buy a PS3 IF I want to be an early adopter to Blu-ray. Jokes on them though, the machine is horrible for gaming and cost them this gen. I haven't bought a game for it in years. Lots of Blu-ray though, which is what I guess they wanted since they sacrificed their gaming division.

This nonsense has to stop. All the gens in terms of console sales have been won by Japanese companies in the States, however the 360 sales in Japan have as a % been massively lower than elsewhere in the world, so maybe if you want to the lob the jingoistic or racist card at any one ....

Why you mad bros? Justin Bieber is really popular as well but he still really hated, try a new rebuttal that isn't fuelled who sells more, the sales argument is dead. Despite the fact that thevps2 sold a lot, Sony was still the most reviled as this gen clearly shows. Never have I seen soo many people eager for a company to fail, though I don't particularly care, I don't own any stocks or shares in any of them.

What does that have to do with Sony not being American? If people hate Sony it's not because they are Non-American. It's because they have made poor business choices and the beginning of the gen. Allow me to direct you here.

Why? Because that's the console you own. Buy an x360 instead, and you'll be back next week saying the same thing about it.

You realize Sony's PS1 and PS2 were extremely faulty? Just about everyone I know had to replace at least 1 of each to do either DRE with PS2 or power supply problem with PS1.

Just passing along real news but the Playstation Network made CNN's top 10 tech fails of 2011. That's just one reason I guess.

Yh that's why all the biggest and best looking games run fine on the hardware, hype has nothing to do with it, the machine has been out 6 years now. It's the worst craftsmen who blame the tools, so please stop with the strawmen arguments it's making you look bad.Zaibach
To be fair now, Skyrim is in a whole another league compared to the linear, corridor, and hand holding fest that comes from PS3's best looking 1st party titles like GoW3, Killzone, or Uncharted.

Whos mad? Its justI see people accuse Americans (I'm not American btw, from UK) of being racist for choosing the 360 over the PS3 all the time on this board, its a tired argument. Sony is a hugely popular brand in the states, so it being non-american is a ridiculous answer. As for people wanting a company to fail, the venom displayed towards microsoft by people on this board puts the distain shown for Sony in the shadows, but the persecution levels some of the Sony loyalists display and how butthurt they get, I presume aplifies any criticism towards Sony they perceive. BTW your sig is awesome, no idea who she is but :)

I like Sony overall just as I do with the other console manufacturers but damn, I have never see a console other than the PS3 that has been stripped down of it's features like what Sony have done to it. So glad I have my 60gb launch PS3...

Why should I like sony when their Fanboys are the most arrogant, sheepish and one eyed. They are exactly the same as apple fanboys.

I do enjoy some of sonys first party but a lot of them are very overrated by their own fans. Cough GOW3 COUGH

walkingdream

Exactly. That's the main reason why I can't stand them (the fanboys). They're probably worse than Sega fanboys, for crying out loud.

Not sure if serious or not .... the 360 had a bunch of titles aimed at the japanese market.
