Why Uncharted is the consoles graphics king *56k*

Since fanboys seem to be trolling today and saying Uncharted isin't technically impressive, after we've had months of debate and came to agree that Uncharted is the graphics king, I'm gonna let the pics do the talking, because this is definitely the graphics king til Gears 2 comes out. :P

In my belief Assasins Creed is the current console graphics king.

Please point out that its the graphics king on consoles, or else this thread will be filled with Crysis pics :)

And yes currently Uncharted is the best looking game on consoles, from personal experience having played both Geow1 & Uncharted on the same TV (32" HDTV), i can say Uncharted looks better...

Meh.

I have both, have beaten both at least 3 times, I was a huge champion of Uncharted's graphical prowess at the time, but Metal Gear Solid 4 unquestionably looks better. Uncharted's environments are awesome, but MGS takes the cake.

Graphics imo are a hard thing to judge. Do we want amazing graphics, with small stages (Uncharted, Gears) or do we want good looking games with impressive stages (Assassins, GTA). The diff between this 2 is the quality of the textures. Kind of like in MGS 4. Uncharted and Gears have more consuming textures in the enviroments, so when you zoom to a wall, it doesnt look bad. GTA, AC and MGS 4 use a different technique. The textures look amazing from the distance that you normally have, but when you have to go closer or zoom up, they look terrible.

This siection in Crushing was really bothersome :( Especially having to cross that small gap of water)

While it certainly very nice,

I would still opted to think that Assasins Creed is graphically superior to anything else so far this generation.

Finally someone posted a pic of the good but not great looking interiors of the game. The drastic change in quality imo, especially in darker caves and late chapter industrial areas as compared to the vibrant almost lifelike jungles really hurts the gfx king argument.

MGS4 is king, it's not really debatable.

any low resolution texture looks good far away, only way to prove graphical dominance is by posting screenshots of how detailed the textures are upclose.

Its a first person shooter. The textures need to be more detailed as the game is played from the first person perspective.

perfect dark zero has better textures.

some textures on models and a few doors look ****

but the games best textures look downright amazing upclose i mean see actual pits in the rock not blured out.

Gears and Uncharted are tied as far as I'm concerned. They're both kings, but almost too different artistically to compare.carljohnson3456

Why? Why do you need to do something unnatural like zooming in on a rock to prove graphical prowess? The pictures posted look like what the game actually looks like when you play it, which is what is important. I think that is what developers keep in mind when they design environments. I'm glad they don't waste time and processing power making meaningless background objects look more realistic.

It's too bad that's not in-game, nice try though. Assassins Creed looks great but it doesn't have much variety, if you've seen one of the cities you've seen them all, albiet a few extra buildings thrown in, everything in the game is either white or light-brown with hints of green here and there.

It's a toss up between Gears and Uncharted if you ask me. Uncharted is certainly more colourful, but Gears is more detailed and nails the whole "gritty" thing pretty well.
