Xbox > GC > PS2.
Project Cafe isn't even revealed.
And 3DS is a huge jump over the DS, no matter what you think (see RE:Revelations).
You must really hate Nintendo to deny facts.
Lol! At the ninty cycle. I can't believe people are falling for another gaming related cycle.Haven't people learnt from the sonic cycle that these cycles are abused even though a certain item may not meet all the points that are required in the cycle.

I realized that a little too late, my bad. ^^;
While disappointing if true, all is rumors so far. Nothing is exactly known.
Edit: I just felt it was necessary to whip up this as wel the wii has a total of 73 AA+ games of which 33 are exclusives, the highest of any console. I am supposed to be a hermit, why am I defending consoles?

When words can not express the dismay, this can. And did he just call the DS bad? Ok it had a bad launch, but really it is generally considered the best handheld of this gen.
I don't get it. Is the flash memory going to be inside the console or do we carry it around like ps2 memory cards?sethman410
Its all rumors, I heard a rumor not too long ago that Cafe would have a 1 Terrabyte HDD. So if that rumor is true, these are most likely like PS2 memory cards.
One of the main weaknesses of the Wii was the fact that it only had 512mb of Flash memory. Well fear not, since the Project Cafe will support a massive 8gb of Flash memory. 320gb hard drives are so last gen.

So yeah, if this report turns out to be true, then don't expect the Project Cafe to have good online apart from unified Friend Codes. Knowing Nintendo, I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. Plus no 100% guarantee of 1080p at this stage :|
PandaBear86
Ad. 1080p - its completely in the hands of developers if they decide to optimise their games on 1080p or not. Its always a dilema - higher resolution, or more and better effects? What is (hypothetically) better - 1080p without AA or 720p with 4x AA? Will we have more open spaces and more action on the screen in 720p or less in 1080p? On current consoles, the computing power is on a level where most devs decided to stick with 720p (or even sub HD) to achieve better effects etc. Nintendo will be much more powerful so its completely possible that corridor shooters like CoD will run in 1080p with decent AA and will look stunning, but a little bit more open world games like Crysis 1 will run at 720p (and again - will look stunning). Why would Nintendo bind developers by some rules like "Every single game on N6 must be 1080p."? That would be silly.
If you think that they just add some magical circuit that will make it 1080p without changing anything else, you completely dont understand how consoles (and PCs) work. Thats why I laughed when I read about Wii HD rumors - "it will be same as Wii, but with HD" - lol, not possible. :)
If your not downloading full games then its not really needed. Most people just complain about DLC sales so who really cares?
Also flash memory will read MUCH faster than a HDD so your console will act faster in general.

True, but even with the Gamecube and N64 I can see a viable argument about "hardware is missing standard features of current systems." In the case of N64 most obviously the use of limited ROM cartridges rather than CD-ROMs, and the Gamecube also used proprietary mini-DVDs with less potential space than its competitors. Nintendo was also slow to add online capabilities with the Gamecube, and ultimately only four games ended up supporting it...So while the N64 and GC were powerful, the Nintendo name has unfortunately become synonymous with limitations in the area of storage capacity and online play.

Ha ha, and this cycle applies to? Wii? That's all?
Lol this doesn't even apply to Wii, fans never claimed true revolution would start next gen, fans were pleased with this console.
Also, despite what some people are so desperate to deny, Wii indeed change gaming, may i remind you of Wii 2.0 and Wii 3.0 aka Move and Kinect.
I never knew you spoke for me. They didnt change gaming, they changed a control method, and yet, some of the wiis best games dont even take alot of use of motion controls, some of the best games this generation, dont even use motion controls, infact, the majority doesnt. Wii didnt change squat, its a gimmick like everything else, and until i see a game that is beyond BETTER then anything so far, and fully used motion controls, not buttons i will stand by it.

It had to do with making 1080p viable regardless of the game, developers often choose a lower resolution because they have no choice, that should have to be the case.Hmm, makes me wonder if they will use the gray or clear duct tape to hold the 2 Wii's together.
Seriously "N", if true then why bother even bringing out a new console in the near furture. :?
This sounds good to me. Having only 8 gigs of flash memory would eliminate DLC and confirm that nintendo is actually releasing a "console" and not a gimped pc. As long as the system is backwards compatible with the Wii and Gamecube, 8 gb is plenty to handle the virtual console.

The real Nintendo Cycle Rumors of a new console are released. Cool names are thrown around. Every cool feature under the sun is mentioned. Nintendo reveals their console and the name is stupid and it's got one or two cool ideas and the rest are big disappointments. Nintendo is king at giving you something cool and than wrapping it in a tortilla of suck. "Here's motion controls..with last gen graphics. Here's glasses free 3D...good luck hold it perfectly still and don't mind the headaches. Here's online...with friend codes. Here's the virtual console...don't mind the ridiculous prices for old games." Bread_or_Decide
You have to valid points, to some extent.
The rest are funny.

I do not think that Nintendo will allow third party developers to decide on anything at all? What about allowing developers to use 3-D or acheivements? Nintendo stated they did not care about 3-D or achievements, meaning they won't offer it to developers who are interested in it Why would they suddenly turn around and offer 1080p? :P[QUOTE="PandaBear86"]

If it can handle 1080p, then it should easily handle 3-D in 720p. Yet Nintendo stated they have no interest in supporting 3-D, despite the fact that the console is physically capabale of it. Do you really think Nintendo will give third party devs the option of anything? No, Nintendo are the only ones who are allowed to make decisions because they are very strict with their hardware.

That is a valid point, but the only problem that caused was not being able to have large games like Final Fantasy. Games like OOT were 32MB in size so there was extra space left in the cartridge & if Nintendo wanted to utilize it they would. So its not rly a limiting factor in terms of graphics in majority of cases. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is 1.3Gb & the Wii Discs can hold up to 8Gb. Im not saying your wrong because your not, but what you pointed out isnt as big of a deal as you make it out to be.

The games still looked good (especially Nintendo first party titles), but it did turn-off 3rd party developers who preferred to take advantage of the more spacey optical media available on the other consoles. I think, without a doubt, those non-graphics related hardware limitations contributed to third parties drifting away from their consoles. With the Wii they finally fixed their disc storage limitations, and at least attempted to address the issue of online play, but unfortunately the system had limitations in all sorts of new areas where consoles had been advancing: lack of hard drive, lack of unified online gaming service, and for the first time Nintendo trailed far behind their competitors in terms of core system internals like CPU/GPU/RAM/everything.
Personally, I think to win back 3rd parties Nintendo needs to provide a superior system that has no quirky and annoying limitations. It needs to create an SNES again.
