1gb of ram is not terrible. Most games can be built with 1gb of ram.The PS4 will only use about 45%-60% of it's 8GB GDDR5 ram for games(I.e for the CPU and GPU).

moistsandwich

Bullshit... ps4 will use 48.7-83.94% of its GDDR5.

I think he meant to specify for Video Memory

That was what I meant. Some of the PS4 ram will be used for video ram, some for all those extra features and the OS and some for other things not related ot the above to.

[QUOTE="Quad4Life"] The CPU and it's 1gb of ram.NoodleFighter

How is the CPU old? How is the 2GB of DDR3 old?

The CPU is based off the Wii CPU which is also based of the gamecube CPU, so yeah it's pretty dated, they basically just slapped more cores into it.

CPUs are often based on older CPUs. Intel Core 2 was pretty heavily based on Pentium III. You wouldn't call a Core 2 Quad a Pentium III with some more cores slapped on, would you?

 So what say you?

I don't think Nintendo is going anywhere. Everyone said the same thing about the PS3 and the 3DS. Where are they now? lol!! None of those companies you've listed could replace Nintendo.

The irony here is that sony is more likely to die first.  There's a possibilit that this could be the last sony console.

Or did everyone suddenly forget about sony's dire financial troubles?

Rage010101
They are all in denial until Sony pulls the plug on the PS4 half way through this generation without warning. They think everything is peachy and rosy over at Sony.

System Wars has sunk to a new low.

I guess everybody forgot how well 3DS is doing and that Nintendo has returned to profits.

nintendo isn't dead but they need to realize that for consoles the core gamer is your backbone. casuals are great for cash grabs but they will not sustain your console.

the sell copies but they don't sell units. Most people already played NSMB2 and weren't willing to but a wii U for another one. A 3d mario on the other hand has more system selling power

So you would rather an awesome game company like Nintendo fail and be replaced by Apple, Google, Valve or Samsung

Why would anyone want that

If anything, the Sony audience would be more problematic for Nintendo, considering many PlayStation fans are former Nintendo gamers who no longer want anything to do with them. This was proved in the PS1 vs N64 era.

While I'm not a fan of the way Nintendo handled that deal they were about to have with Sony, it still ended up for the better that they did split.

Even if Nintendo were to go, no one and especially none of these companies can replace them, it is irrelevant anyway since the 3DS is killing it, we will get at least one more console after Wii U, and that is if the wii u fails to recover which is unlikely.

I don't want Nintendo out of the console business, but they don't deserve to win any generations with the crap they are putting out now. Shame the Gamecube failure made them give on making traditional and competitive hardware.

The problem with the WiiU is the marketing and the lack of games. Once those tow problems are fixed the console's hardware sales will pick up.super600
Not directed just at you, Super:

Both of those problems stem directly from incompetent management. Nintendo is immensely talented and creative (which makes it all the more frustrating), but I'm sorry, they are a TERRIBLY run company.

The thing that always amuses me about Nintendo apologists is their arguments always whittle down to, "just wait". "Just wait, once software is released it'll all go away and all will be swell....". "Just wait, once proper marketing hits....".

"Just wait, just wait".

Damn, how is this a valid defense? And then Iwata comes out during these waiting periods and apologizes profusely and asks people to understand over and over, and people fall in love with him and say, "well gee wiz, he's so humble, caring, and concerned, so therefor he's a great CEO".

I'm sorry, but no. He is taking us for pushovers and is using Nintendo's legacy to manipulate its fans so desperate for any bone they're thrown. Fast forward a bit, and the cycle repeats itself. Does Iwata believe that continual apologies will excuse all of this? Apparently so. Does anybody believe these droughts to be unavoidable? Some, unfortunately do.

I keep hearing the reason there's such a current drought of Wii U games is because Iwata pulled pretty much all developmental resources away from it to help hasten 3DS releases after the slow start. Now that it has some stability, resources have again been re-allocated to the Wii U in full force. Considering the decent amount of 3DS release, both current and future, and the current drought for the Wii U, this makes perfect sense.

What I think is happening is Nintendo is too fvcking cheap to invest its massive bankroll into studios for both platforms so as to be able to pump out games consistently at regular intervals, so they shift them back and forth and pull out the apology and please understand cards to placate everyone until the storm blows over. They know they have incredible IPs and diehard, longterm fans that will tolerate this sh!t, as they always can be counted upon to do. So why spend the extra money when a simple "I'm sorry" will appease all these gamers who accept it? Hell, not only accept, but DEFEND them?

I think these droughts are very intentional. They happen over and again, so they must be. Either that, or Nintendo is unable to get their sh!t together. One or the other, how can this be defended? Personally, I think Nintendo is leaning on the strength of its brand-name, legacy, and core fans to get away with murder when other companies would not be able to.

Coolyfett was one of those kids who played the NES, then the Genesis came out and the Genesis had some really cool franchises that NES didnt have. When the SuperNES came out Coolyfett's parents were not going to get another system, especially since the NES still worked. What really bothered Coolyfett with Nintendo was the way MK1 was censored in comparison to what the Genesis had. It let Coolyfett know their products would not grow up with Coolyfett.

They're not terribbly run, but as alot of people have mentioned; their business/investor model is built round a strong asian culture of respect and conservatism. In there press releases they're talking just as much to investors as to customers.

The Wii was a good move by them at first, but it let them to fatally assume their business model could be built on traditional Japanese consumer loyalty (albeit in other regions), this is part of the reason it was simply called the "Wii U", how they didn't learn from that misake with the launch of the 3ds is beyond comprehension. It also made them lose touch with the difference between 'innovation' and 'change for the sake of change'.

It looks like Microsoft is making the same mistake; they're  about ready to abuse their position after completely silly profits with XBL thinking people will latch onto a subsciption based model. Do they know this is stupid? Absolutely, but subscription based models are the new thing in the tech industry and they'll be facing immense pressure from investors and MBA tossers.

I might sound like a cow, but this is exactly what Sony seems to be putting right with the PS4 after trying to get away with the PS3 on the coat-tails of the PS2. Being the only company to not get a trump card with their home console made them really have the ability to innovate and listen instead of sticking to a "if it's nearly not broken, don't fix it too much" model.

I came in here expecting a link about how Nintendo was ceasing console production. Well, not really, but I was hoping for something.

Imagine my disappointment when all I found was more baseless System Wars stupidity.

I can't believe the mods allow this kind of nonsense.

At least some messageboards like NeoGAF doesn't tolerate something like System Wars, or to tolerate someone constantly trolling on one platform. They'd be banned on the spot.
