if the $250 Wii cost $400 there. Then a $600 Wii there should be about $400 in the US and that sounds fine by me.

Haha no
im not paying $600 for a buffed up Xbox 360, just like i would not pay $400 for an overclocked gamecube
god damn australia
i find this hard to believe.
though with the big N's history the console is prolly $50 of the price and the ipad knockoff controller is $550.
What.......??lol $599......??lololol No thanks.....i am very happy with the PS3&XBOX360.
First the 3DS 250$...lolol and now this WiiU 599$.......good luck nintendoflop....

nintendoflop? Really? That's not wordplay, that's not even a lazy portmanteau. That's just lazy. You can do better than that.

It's a rumor, it's just a placeholder price by an Australian retailer. Kind of like Gamestop's 'Vita is $999' thing.Waiting for US prices, but if it's that high then holy ****

So no, 599 AUD in Australia for the Wii U is not that expensive, considering I bought a PS3 for 999 dollars at launch.
NOTE: As of 12/13/2011 1 U.S. dollar = 0.993739442 Australian dollars.
[QUOTE="Merex760"]Good luck with that Nintendo. charizard1605

your probably right. Tho it sounds like it's in the 500's still :/
Nah, it won't be $600 in the US, but it's not gonna be as cheap as some of the fans believe either, Just like the 3DS. Launch consoles cost more to make, that controller is gonna be expensive to make, and Nintendo counts on making $$$ on hardware, unlike the other two console manufacturers. $400 would be my prediction. I can't see the market paying any more, and I can't see Nintendo bringing it to market for any less.

Those sources don't mean anything to me. I'm waiting for Nintendo's word.

But Nintendo is like Apple, overpriced junk hardware, so wouldn't surprise me if they have extreme price-tag.
Agreed to an extent but Wii U doesn't have anywhere near the hype the Wii or 3DS had.Its a place holder price.
The actual price is going to be between $299.99 - 349.99 Mark my words.

This. You always overprice for a preorder if you don't actually know the price yet. That way, they can't undermine its value and get in a sticky situation where they would either have to honor a price that is less than what Nintendo sets the MSRP or ask customers to pay more when they already have receipts for a preorder. They set it at a high price to be on the safe side until they know the actual price. Preorder prices can always go down.

Are you s***ing me!?
No way will that happen, that number is the reason the PS3 bombed for the first two years of its life.

The Wii had its own forum with an active community and heaps of rumours floating around the whole Internet this same time, nobody cares about Wii U (in comparison). We have announced titles, tech demos, playable demos and the hardware/controller to look at this time. All we had back then was a codename and some vague patents. Please Log In to post.
