Yeah, it's not going to be THAT expensive. 400 at most.
More likely, 300-350.

Five Hundred Ninety Nine U.S. Dollars.
That isn't going to happen. If its over $300 it won't sell no matter how much Nintendo hypes it up. The tablet/controller idea is just stupid and pointless and will do nothing but make it more expensive. Now, what WOULD have been cool is if we could hook our DS or 3DS up to the Wii-u and do the same thing.

I really don't see any console going over 299 next gen. Maybe one of the HD twins going for 349 but I feel like even that is pushing it.
nurnberg
Then why have a next-gen in the first place? We already have 300$ systems. Next-gen means that the new systems will be more powerful, hence cost more than current ones. I am pretty sure every new console will sell for more than 300$. 500$ would be a good guess.
I think the tremendous success the Wii has seen this gen means that Nintendo knows not to price their next console too high. Sony executive said in an interview that they were going to keep the hardware costs on the cheaper end of the spectrum this go around as they "learned their lesson" this gen with the PS3 launch. Microsoft is the one that I am unsure of though but if their recent indication to profit off of casuals means anything, it's that they will want to be able to sell a console to families cheaply, or at least near the same price as the competitors. Just my speculations though.
As much as I'd like to hate on Nintendo here ... I highly doubt they ship out a console for 600 bucks.
I am a very big fan of console gameing, but I could never justify paying 599. 349$ is the price I am forseeing.

Why spend $600 on a wii u with a gimmicky expensive controller when you can use that same $600 and get a PC that runs the most demanding games at High?
nurnberg
Lol? For 600$ you don't get a good PC.
For around $80 you can get a video card like a Radeon HD 6770 that maxes out nearly every game currently out including Crysis and pop it in your current PC, good to go.[QUOTE="FashionFreak"]

You probably already have a PC in your home. Just upgrade the hell out of that baby.australians always pay silly prices.daveg1Australians should get their games off GOG. No regional pricing. I have fallen in love with GOG. :oops:
It would be moronic for any company to launch a console over $350 next generation. Considering Nintendo has always had affordable consoles, and after the whole debacle with the launch of the Playstation 3 I highly doubt Nintendo would considering that price.
really? the Radeon HD 6770 is capable of working crysis and is only $80? I've asked around and everyone told me I couldn't get a good card for under $200!! If you are right then I guess i'll be upgrading my Ram and getting that card.wolfbmIt seems to be 110$ at Newegg and Amazon but that is still way below 200$.

You sir have missed the point of a home console when hit price ranges over $350, $400 is the VERY MAXIMUM a console should cost at launch, no more. After that point you limit your auidence to much and you simply become a second rate home computer. Home consoles should be affordable. If your console is too expensive the company loses to much money, the player base is too small, and then developers do not want to make games for said console because the returns with rising development costs will not be great enough. We still have $300 consoles today becuase they launched at such high prices that Sony and Microsoft are just now starting to make a profit off of them, so the price is higher to help recouperate the losses from ealier in the generation. Nintendo on the other hand made a profit off of every Wii since day one.
Not to keep off topic off OP but the Radeon HD 6770 is a powerful card? The computer I have now struggles with Portal.wolfbmSeems pretty decent. The laptop version of the card can handle quite a bit.
I expect it to be $350. I don't think any console will be over $400. PS4 $350 and Nextbox $400( only because I think it will be the most powerful)
If the rumor about there being two nextboxes is true. Then I could see one being $400 and the lower-end one being $250-$299.

That's AUS dollars... so its roughly $399 in US dollars.Grey_Eyed_Elf599.99 AUD is roughly 605.02 USD...
If it retails for $599 in the US that's a ripoff.
For $599 you can build a solid PC.
Nice to see Ninty still ripping off their customers, same as always.

No thats not what I was pointing out. Astralia always over price things, heres a example of what I was getting at:

AUD = $187

USD = $93

If the Wii U is advertised at $599 AUD... it will almost deffinitely be priced at $399 USD (roughly).

How does Australia get away with such insolence?I gaurantee the Wii U won't cost $600. Other than a touch screen controller, there is nothing all that high tech about it. It supposedly only has current gen (or slightly better) graphics and is pretty much just a new Wii. There is no legitimate reason it should cost so much.

Forgot about that.thats what you get for using those tablet hybrid bull**** controllers. I guarantee that is the reason its so expensive. there is no reason why the console alone, given the hardware, would cost that much.

No matter how much the WiiU winds up costing, it's gonna be a rip-off. The only good game the Wii got was the RE4 port. I know you guys claim SMG1&2 were great but I didn't and we won't even get into the embarrassing flop that is Skyward Bored...

ALL consoles are a rip-off. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but I'm not buying it if it's over $400. Video Games are just a hobby, nothing for us to rip throats out for.

Thats just not true, as much as I hate on the wii, SMG 1 & 2 were fantastic. Too bad 2 games were really the highlight of the wii life span, but atleast give credit where credit is due.
