I'm sure there's little reason to be concerned, it'd just be nice if the bar was set a little higher, in general.
Now that I agree with. In a big way.

Flawless experience on the X1 for me. Game is a lot of fun. Moreso than I anticipated.
Good to hear. I was debating on whether to wait for a price drop or not.
Thats my one criticism of the review, Would have been nice to get some idea on the legth/replayability but I just took a stab in the dark and I would say its probably worth full retail. Theres a fair few difficulty levels which should tick the replayability box as its a straight as they come shooter.
I assume you have been around here long enough not to be expecting great things as far as story line and depth are concerned :P
However saying that, what it does, it does very well.
I'm guessing SP campaign is 8ish hours? It always takes me longer as I like to explore and enjoy the art of the game.
Just read this from IGN:
10-to-12 hour campaign can certainly make you stop and wonder more than, say, Raven's 2009's occult-centric Wolfenstein reboot.
So that's pretty good for a modern day FPS.
I may just pick this up tonight, although I'm for sure getting Watch Dogs next week, :D

I would say its worth while. Regretting downloading it, substantially more expensive than the disk from amazon.... my fault for assuming it would be the other way around. The enemies are cool as hell and really get the sense that the shit is hitting the fan, fighting to stay alive...I haven't felt that in a FPS for a while.
Watchdogs im still not sold on based on the gameplay vids.... some of the hacks look really cool but im concerned the world is a little lifeless. I am not sure if this is an inherent problem with the world or whether the vids I have seen are just not that exciting.
Doesn't seem like a lazy or rushed PC port to me.
They were recommending an i7, but I'm playing ultra on an i5 and HD7950 just fine.
There will always be performance issues for some people, and it's a real shame because they were looking forward to enjoying this. Hope it gets patched soon.
But don't make it out to be that everyone is having performance issues...
I agree, but when people say the game runs like shit even on the lowest settings, it is somewhat concerning. Hopefully the driver updates will fix those issues.
Total biscuit played started playing the PC version a hour before its launch and he's had no issues what so ever... Well not to the degree some people have been having. I haven't got the game yet but the one person I know on steam that has it seems to have no issues with the games performance and he has a GTX 660 and a i5 2500.

Yes, and it's not fun for those people. But hardly any game releasing these days does not have that. Even PC exclusives have stuff like that, so I doubt it has anything to do with porting.
Let's hope there will soon be driver and game updates :)
Meh, its a Bethesda game, did any of you expect it to work first time?
Had no problems with Dishonored or Skyrim on launch day.
What's with the bad Bethesda rep ? The only awful, awful port they made was Rage. Didn't include any options because of it's "advanced optimization system" and ran like crap on AMD hardware on launch day.
Apart from that though, zero problems with Bethesda games ...
People really need to stop supporting Bethesda. Let me guess; this broken game, with the ridiculous day one patch, will get hundreds of GOTY awards, too.
Get used to it this gen hermies. PC isn't relavent to big time devs and publishers and they will prioritize consoles for the big bucks. Why dedicate extra resources for PC when the average hermie is a Mandarin speaking gold farmer? Doesn't make financial sense.
And to think, hermies were bragging that the ports from Console would be better this gen or that you'd be able to emulate ps4 and xbone games on PC in the near future. ahahahaha!
STFU Kenny Powers or I'll sick my craiglist indian wolf on you.
Id Tech 5 is a engine known to have troubles with some PC's, the devs sorted it pretty fast last time, not reason to think it won't work again this time. I'll be trying this pretty soon, the download is at 95%. I've heard people with similar setups to me are running the game just fine so I'm cautiously optimistic.
Get used to it this gen hermies.
1. So far every multiplat this gen has been better on PC except lol MLB lol. This includes Watch Dogs. You'll be owned once a Digital Foundry article is made, just like every multiplat so far.
2. These are isolated incidents seen in tech support forums for every game ever released.
Yeah I was watching the gaf thread and apparently it'll even stick your fps at 2-3, requiring either a restart or setting all settings to low and trying again. Seems like a massive memory leak.
It's the ID tech 5 piece of shit engine after all.
in this day and age having such severe performance problems from a linear game and an AAA dev does not reflect good on Bethesda ( i can understand some bugs on open world games but this ? )
This game is amazing. The shooting is just so much damn fun. All that carnage going on when firing two assault rifles or carrying an MG, it's incredible.
Enemies hidding behind cover ? No problem, lob a grenade at them or just fire at the cover and it's gone.
It's also a huge throwback to old school FPS with all the secrets, health bar and unlimited amount of weapons you can carry... but of course 'elitists' like uninspiredcup still hate it. Pffffft lol
I'm gonna laugh if watchdogs still has that flat ass lighting on PC and performance issues.
I'm gonna laugh if Watch_dogs and Wolfenstein perform and look better on my 3 year old mid-end PC than on 'next gen' consoles...

I'll laugh either way.
But I'd love to see a large angry mob welcome ubisoft with open arms from all factions :P.

Yeah, these cross-gen ports will still be a bitch to port over to PC. However when these games stop releasing on PS3/X360 and just start releasing on the PS4/X1 and PC, the ports will be miles better since the tech used in each version will be extremely similar (just downscaled on the consoles obviously).
It's just not cross gen games that are affected by these poor optimize/performance issues. Crysis and Crysis Warhead are completely broken and unplayable for a few people who bought them over Steam. Also those are just two games for example that are ether broken or have performance issues.
That is my biggest issue with games on PC and people love to blame it on cause it's a console port or cause it's a cross gen game when that has nothing to do with it cause you have PC only games and none cross gen games that are affected as well.
Don't get me wrong I do a good 90% of my gaming on PC and I love gaming on PC, I'm just not a knee pad wearing sucker like the rest of these herms.
Consoles the superior platform confirmed
more like Nvidia, the superior graphics card confirmed.
amd/ati cards always suck with new games
yeah right see 2 posts above
Gawd damn this things like 41gb.
Da ****.
Wow that's pretty big for a FPS, at least it's not like Titanfall which was what like 65gb :P

yeah that was total bullshit as well.
With files like this becoming more and more normal, internet usage caps are going to have to go the way of the dodo, especially with nearly everyone purchasing online, downloading the file.
Instead we have the FCC trying to **** it up entirely, when we're so far behind Korea as is.
Runs great for me with a 670/2500k, as others have said its not the best looking game in the world but its good enough. Not sure why it needs so much hard drive space though.
AMD and Nvidia need to start getting their shit together with OpenGL. They bombed with RAGE as well.
99% of OpenGL games that come out are never really heavy on the graphics so the second one is both manufacturers seem to have a lot of problems.
I'll laugh either way.

I don't think people are angry, rather they are confussed as there are around 5 different limited editions :S

I still have a download cap, but on the plus side I have really high download speeds.
There used to be a time I was over my limit constantly, luckily the current limits are way more lenient and I download a lot of games for PC, PS3 and Vita with no issues.
Nearly everyone is a big overstatement though, in the west downloading is becoming more and more popular, but there are still lots of people who buy their games on a disc. And steam stats have shown that not a lot of people outside Western Europe en the US buy and download their games on steam...

I'm thinking high resolution movies and to a lesser extent uncompressed audio.
Seen a lot of (short) movies so far and the audio sounds great.
4670K and GTX 760. Runs fine. I think those with problems are in the minority.
It always is a minority. It's a shame but a reality that with every game release, especially a popular one, there will always be people getting crashes or low FPS.
Consoles the superior platform confirmed
no it's because this games a console port sloppily optimized for pc while they took more time optimizing the consoles performance happens all the time.
It's a shitty console game anyway who the hell just wants a single player only wolfenstein? Not me starbreeze the company who made the chronicles of riddick suck they have no experience doing multiplayer riddick was sp only also.
Do mine eyes deceive me or is my 7870 (ie r9 270) performing better than a fucking GTX 770!? HAHAHA!!!
This thread is filled with people that make a huge deal out of NOTHING

Pretty much.
Also, if people think RTWC had great multiplayer, well, it didn't. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory did, which is a stand-alone multiplayer game.

The sad thing is I think WoW and most MMO's are usually 25gb-45gb even with all of the expansions and patches, there's really no reason why sp games should be 45gb+
