Wolfenstein on PC apparently has severe performance issues

On topic, BFD. Like we all haven't seen a game perform like ass on PCs AND consoles before. Hell, Bethesda's last major platform turd was Skyrim... on the PS3. Seeking ownage on this stuff will just get you burned.

Good news is Bethesda will do everything they can to get it fixed, and on PC if they can't fix it, the community will do it themselves!

right now I can't even play it I just get a black page as soon as I launch it on Steam. I have AMD so what can I do to fix this.?

Performing great for me. The only issue I'm having is that the sound sometimes gets out of sync during cutscenes for a few seconds. Kind of annoying, but hardly game breaking. It will probably be fixed in a patch.

Only 3 hours in, but so far it's been awesome. Loving the throwback mixed with new shooting mechanics. It's not a very demanding game so it runs really smooth (I bet my laptop with a 670MX could run it at high settings fairly easily). And the pop-in is not nearly as bad as in Rage, at least for me.

I can't believe people are claiming dominance over isolated technical issues that happen with every PC game. Every PC is different and thus every setup cannot be tested.... this leads to some unlucky people having problems. At least on the PC the community can fix problems for itself, instead of solely relying on developer patches. On consoles if your game breaks from a bug you're SOL.

I don't know which is funnier: the fact that WOLFENSTEIN has technical problems... on the PC, or that it's worse for AMD - you know, the company that makes the CPUs and GPUs for the new consoles...

PC gaming is the only industry in the world in which you can buy a brand new, full price product and there is absolutely no guarantee that it will even work, or work well enough to be enjoyable. And if you find yourself on the short, blunt end of that stick, it's your fault for having a crappy rig, all these other people I don't know who have no concrete evidence of their subjective experience say the game runs great. You can save money in pc gaming alright, save money on all the games you can't play because you believed the dimwits who told you that you can build a gaming machine for 400 (or even 500 or 600) bucks that will outlast and outperform a PS4. And if this is making you feel angry, it's probably because you were on the blunt end of that stick called pc gaming at one point too, and it wasn't very fun. Me too, I'll be renting this game on the PS4 and if I dig it I will pick it up down the line used.

Anyways...I'm sure 100% of those pesky borderline game-breaking issues will be cleaned up on the PC and maybe a few of those other unoptimized messes sitting unplayed in your Steam library will get patched, or modded, or something....someday. And I'm hoping more than anyone.

Battlefield and Colonial Marine were clusters of crap on consoles as well.Heck there has also been tons of DLC that straight up didn't work on day one, or borked things for console gamers. The compatability pack for BL2 was a nightmare for console owners, and everyone who didn't pony up for Mecromancer and Psycho had to deal with it. I also seem to remember a console last gen that had a huge failure rate, and another that had to take it's online down for a month and a half. A lot of people purchased PS3s and PS plus subscriptions right before that happened.

If you change the word "PC" in your post to "software" you would be correct for your first stance, the rest is just silly. I built my rig four years ago for five hundred dollars and some change. I had to spend thirty whole dollars to play Watchdogs. For the cost of a few years multiplayer on consoles, I can upgrade the GPU next year to something that will stomp what the PS4 has in it.

Finally, I would bet a paycheck that my game's library dwarfs yours.

i haven't played it yet but even if it drops to 40 fps is still better than xbone version. You may "do just fine" with your version, doesn't change the fact that is worse, way worse than pc.

I really don't know what is up with big publishers these days. They seem to have no problem with releasing absolutely broken products (not talking about Wolfenstein :p more about Battlefield 4) or cutting content out of a game to sell with their deluxe edition or day one DLC.

I have zero interest in pre-ordering Far Cry 4 when you tell me you cut content out of the game to give to me for 'free' as a pre-order bonus, in fact I'd rather wait for a complete edition in that case.

7950 here, framerate is decent. But the game does not feel smooth, like microstuttering I guess but not consist.

Do you know crushed blacks are not on every TV? It is a setting. Try harder.

I have an HD7950 too and the game plays smooth. Though I do think the game could be better optimized. Game looks good but I think my i5 and HD7950 are enough to max it out, yet it's not.

Oh apparently they are using the sharpening filter again,the crushed blacks were obvious and is the reason it look a little sharper,MS resorting to trick because its console can do more..lol

No its not, I don't know what planet you live on. Most PC ports these days are actually really good. Its really surprising when we see a bad PC port like Ghosts, Dark Souls, or this.

My god is this one ugly ass game. The lighting and particle effects are nice, but it seriously has some of the most awful looking textures I've seen in a modern AAA game developed with PC and next gen in mind. Granted a big part of the problem is the lack of anisotropic filtering; I've seen photos of people who've forced it through the console and it makes it look quite a bit better, but apparently the resets it or something every new level. And don't even get me going on the horrible aliasing in the game. The game could look quite nice, but the horrendous image quality just ruins it. Texture pop-ins, screen crawling due to jaggies, and some of the shittiest textures I've seen in a modern game. God damn id Tech 5 is a fucking embarrassment.

No surprise herms were trying to keep this quiet. Don't want to add another broken launch game to the ever-growing list.

First, nobody was ever trying to keep this a secret. Those with performance issues have taken to the forums since day one. Second, most people are able to play fine. My desktop plays it fine with every setting on max and my laptop can play it at max with the exception of shadows at medium. Like a poster above me said, id Tech 5 isn't much of a looker, therefore it isn't very demanding to run. I get 100+ fps on my desktop and 50+ on my laptop. Perfectly playable for me. And I know I'm not alone.

No idea. Max Payne 3 was 30GB because of the 2k textures, but this.. it doesn't even look that good.

I remember hearing something about it from people that dug around the PC files. Most of the size is due to the large amount of 1080p video files, and the rest was language packs. The actual game data itself amounted to around 11gb or something.

Don't get why porting is still such an issue. Aren't these consoles supposed to be close to PCs?

It can't be any worse than Watch Dogs and that game runs okay on mine. I mean it could use a bit more optimization. But, it's quite playable for me at 1080p Ultra.
