World in Conflict 9.5

Oh come on! I haven't completed Psychonauts or Bioshock yet. Or God Hand. All of them heavenly games. Haven't even gotten to install Company of Heroes. Warhawk is getting neglected as well. I'd rather play CoD4 or BF2 to be honest, but I can barely find the time to play those either. I've also been meaning to play some Guitar Hero II. Stranglehold should arrive any day now as well. And soon there's that Halo thing. 2007 is too awesome. :(

I think that having my 8800 GTS 640 mb maxing it out at 1280*1024 getting ~30 FPS is pretty good. People forget most RTS games rarely run need to run above 20 FPS to look good. Also, due the rediculous level of effects, 30 FPS is AMAZING. I mean every single object had true physics, real time shadows, the smoke is realistic and moves in the wind, godrays are everywhere. I you look at some of the scenes, this performance is UNBELIEVABLE. Every character model holds up very well even at ground level. The smoke is perfect. The explosions are amazing. Overall, 30 FPS on an RTS of this detail with this many particle effects and special effects, that is a testament to DX10. Also, nVidia still hasn't released a reliable driver yet. On the 24th they are supposedly releasing a new DX10 driver, and that corresponds with the Crysis Demo. I am seriously hoping that the new drivers do what the old one have failed to do, and thats provide consistant performance. Seriously, right now its not the games or DX10's fault that certain games struggle with DX10, but its nVidia and ATi's fault cause they can't make a proper driver. But as I said, 30 FPS in an RTS game this detailed, thats amazing.horrowhip

Yeah for the amount of detail for this game 30 fps is amazing. You don't need more than that for a RTS.

Yeah for the amount of detail for this game 30 fps is amazing. You don't need more than that for a RTS.

I know SupCom on max only gets 30 FPS(if you have the same number of units.... It drops to like 20 if you get all 8000 units filled up....)for me, and SupCom is creamed by this game in details. C&C3 is the same way. RTS games seriously don't need more than 20 FPS, and 15 FPS is perfectly playable.

Console memory =/= PC memory..You actually think its the same? You have an OS that must be ran. If you have XP and only 512MB of RAM that only leaves 256Mb for your CPU to work with. And you call yourselves hermits:(
If Bioshock is any indication, you'll always need higher PC specs to stay equal to consoles.

what it means it that altough cnc 3 scored lower on 360, the pc version would have scored much lower if the exact same type of gameplay of 360 was present in pc version. this shows how better pc version was comapred to 360 one

You are missing something important, unsurprising for a lemming. PCs don't have just ram, they also have dedicated video memory on their video cards, up to 768mbs worth of it, allowing it to use textures that the x360 simply cannot handle. If you take into account a PCs video memory, most systems have plenty enough memory to offset the os. Meanwhile the x360 has only 512mbs of memory period, and the lemmings still expect to run the game equally to a system with over 5 times the memory.

(2) on 360 though playing was mangable it was still quite troublesome/slow for my taste (i saw someone playing this in a store, no experience).

(3) i was just explaining what lower standards and lower score would imply in case om cnc 3

Actually I can spin this. The only thing your basing the "inferior" argument around is the 360 version runing at a lower FPS, its shallow proof because not everyone has got the powerful enough rig to max those games out and are not able to play at a steady rate as apposed to the 360 version but theres never any acknowledgement to the fact that the 360 version will look alot better than those majority that are in the situation I just described.

If all your basing this "inferiority" argument on is hardware then I can just as easily grill those PC gamers who don't have a 5.1 surround sound hooked up to their PC and say that their version of the game is inferior because they're hearing less channels of audio than I am.

You and I both know that the 360 is capable of pulling off a game like Tiberium Wars or that 2 1/2 year old game BF2 because there are games that look a whole helluva lot better at this point.

The PC version offers better graphics and better performance if you've got a newer, more powerful machine. But the Xbox 360 version offers a base level of performance that's a better choice if you're unwilling to upgrade your PC, especially if you already have the console hooked up to a home theater system and an HDTV.Gamespot

I don't care if its slower or not I'm talking about experience that you get. Just because something happens to be more advance, precise or newer does not equate to a better experience to the player.

pulling of a game is different than pulling of the game as it is on the pc. i can gurantee you that a game like totla war or supreme commander , would have to be masviely downgraded to run on a 360, even though lots of games may look better than them

Your giving me a features list that I didn't ask for and has no bearing on someones opinion if they happened to say "I like the 360 version best." Keep your list of bells and wistles, you cant impose your reasons for feeling the way you feel about something on others..or can you?

What are you basing this "Gameplay experience" around? So your able to tell me how much enjoyment I got from C&C3?

seeing various factors that slow paced games, low visuals etc
