Who do you think the most unethical Video Game publisher is?  Whatever it be from exploiting / dismantling it's Developers, DRM, On disk DLC, Microtrasnactions, Forced multiplayer, Blocked content, Milking of their franchises, online passes etc.

1. Activision

2. Capcom

3. EA.

4. Ubisoft

5. None they're all businesses to make money though whatever means necessary.

6. Valve

7. 2K games

8. Square Enix

9. Rockstar Games

10. Sony

11. Microsoft

12. Nintendo

13. THQ (RIP)

14. Codemasters

15. Other

p.s. Sorry about the lack of on poll choices, I would of really liked to put Square Enix up there for the recent Final Fantasy All the Bravest but......

None, since they all don't force the consumer to use their products and exist in a competitive market. Also, inb4 playground dirt-slinging instead of reasonable, mature discussion.

Why is Activision winning over Capcom or EA? They havent done half the bad sh*t these two had. They didnt came up with online passes (hell not even CoD has those) and petty download practices. Sorry but both EA and Capcom should be winning this. Activision isnt half bad when its all said and done

I say EA, yes Activision milks some franchises, but to be fair Call of Duty keeps selling, so why not make more, it's business 101. If you want COD to die, stop buying it every year. EA does seem to give new Ip's more chances but they love microtransactions, which isn't ethically bad because your not forced to pay for anything you don't want.

How does a competitive market somehow prevent a company from not being ethical in the way it does business?

Those two aren't connected in the slightest.

Valve?

OK, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions and not everyone will ADORE Valve's games; but what the @#$% have they done that was THAT bad? Sure they've  had some problems in the past, no doubt, everyone has them but given a lot of the other choices that's just laughable.

Also, THQ? Nintendo? 2K? Rockstar? Da hell?

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. None of the developers/publishers in the TC's list has been indicted for charges of fraud, embezzlement, etc. This thread is irrelevant because it isn't up to us to determine what ethical standards are being violated. We can have our opinions about which company's business PRACTICES we don't like, though. I personally don't like how EA handles their intellectual property and casualizing it out for greater market penetration. But I remain level-headed and understand WHY they do it as a business. I choose not to give them my money as I don't feel the products they offer are worth it.

The only crying I'm doing is from laughter at your pathetic damage control over losing an argument and resorting to Godwin's Law, childish argumentativeness and accusing me of "trolling" to save face from complete embarassment. And if you are ignoring me, why did you respond? Isn't the whole point of ignoring me to actually ignore me?

I wouldn't say Microsoft "gutted" Rare.

A humungous chunk of Rare left under Nintendo's rule before MS bought them. With what talent they had left they didn't find much success, but rather than shut the studio down Microsoft gave them another option for development.

And PSN does have ads just like XBL. The last time I was playing PS3 it was trying to sell me Kidz Bop.

But no when I say Sony is evil it has more to do with the fact that they have stripped features from paying customers ala removing Linux support from the PS3, they include online passes (drm) in all their first party titles, and they made another proprietary format for the PS Vita in order to price gouge.

Ubisoft couldn't help but announce how much they hated their PC fanbase, and after their terrible DRM failed all they did was replace it with Uplay which has done nothing, but burden people I've talked to that use it.

That depends on what context it is being used in. The TC is implying that these "ethical violations" are hurting consumers... which by extension would immediately involve the judicial system picking over these businesses with a fine-toothed comb and determining how consumers are being "hurt". All that these businesses are doing "wrong" is making the TC unhappy about them no longer making games solely for his benefit. I don't buy EA games because I don't like what they do with them. I don't start whining and call it "unethical" and "hurting consumers". It's business, in a largely free market, that thrives on competition. Don't like it? Go somewhere else. Which is what a lot of these developers who have their companies absorbed and "gutted" when they aren't happy with their superior's decisions.

I stand completely by my "words". My arguments were sound and backed up with reasoning. Instead of trying to counter then with his own reasoned arguments, he decided to devolve into childish mud-slinging and called me a troll and told everyone to ignore me. The ironic thing was, everyone seemed to ignore him.

EA banning Origins accounts for no reason, Capcom "on-disc" DLC, Activision's lawsuit vs Zampella and West after allegedly depriving them of royalties. Doesn't fall under illegal, but certainly skirts a very fine line.

K point, Microsoft did turn them into a Kinect machine tho, they might not have been solely responsible for the gutting but they a big chunk goes to them.
And PSN does have ads just like XBL.Ly_the_Fairy
That I'll fight you on, the ads on PSN are nothing like the ads on Xbox live. You pretty much have to go looking for the PSN ads in the store or whats new sections and you can turn them off. While on Xbox live you get WoW ads in your face just for turning on your system.
when I say Sony is evil it has more to do with the fact that they have stripped features from paying customers ala removing Linux support from the PS3, they include online passes (drm) in all their first party titles, and they made another proprietary format for the PS Vita in order to price gouge.

Ly_the_Fairy

I'll give you the "removing Linux support" I never used it but I can see why people were upset, the reason they did that was because of idiot hackers saying Linux was the key to hacking it. Granted they turned their problem into everyone else's and they get a negative for online passes, but they do give free online. I don't think Sony uses DRM. I never had to be connected to the internet for any of their single player games. Correct me if I' wrong tho.

The accounts issue is covered by their ToS and EULA. On-disc DLC is an issue of consumer valuation (i.e. do you think it is okay to withhold the content for extra revenue? y/n). The lawsuit, IIRC, was based on Activision not fulfilling a contracted agreement with the employees, and was settled out of court (to the best of my memory). Nothing about these things is remotely unethical (or immoral/amoral as the TC was at first claiming). What would be unethical would be advertising a game, and purposefully switching it out with another product upon printing. Something that actually breaks the law. Capcom doesn't advertise (AFAIK) the on-disc DLC as content that comes with the game, and then decides later, after the product releases, to charge for it. I think a lot of people are missing the difference between what is unethical and what they don't like. I personally don't like EA, Activision, Capcom or Ubisoft and how they go about their business... but I don't b!tch and moan about it, I just take my business elsewhere.

Dude WTF is your problem? Who cares if I didn't like SMG 2, that has nothing to do with anything. This is borderline harassment at this point, go away.  The only sound reasonable argument are the ones in your own demented head, seriously I've had ex girlfriends less clingy.  I don't want to have a conversation with you adult or othwise.

What did Activision do? EA and Capcom should be by far the top 2.

What did activision do? Giving us the same sh1t every year. Plus DLCs that aren't even worth getting.

[QUOTE="Zeviander"]www.gamespot.com/super-mario-galaxy-2/user-reviews/722479/?edition=desktop TC gave Super Mario Galaxy 2 a 3.5/10. I think his credibility is about gone at this point.Shielder7

For awhile, I thought that review was a troll review. Hmm...
