2. flamboyantly homosexual character?

For flamboyantly homosexual character, think Ballad of Gay Tony, one who says "Fabulouuusss", and "Ewwwww! Grossss! Get it - off me!". Openly homosexual, think of that fairy looking thing wearing a hood in Zelda Wind Waker.

I would not, because i am not into that stuff. Besides, my family is conservative and they would kick me out of the house !

Since i come from a conservative background, i would not. Otherwise my mother would drag me to church to get exorcised!!!!

My motivation for this thread is that i notice many people claim jrpg's suck because they have male characters who look like females who are "sooo gay and comments like that. Although i dont like character designs like that either. But love jrpgs, and disagree that their is a lot of this in jrpgs.

I personally wouldn't care, unless the main character got extremely obnoxious about it. If any character gets to the point where its very annoying for ANY reason, homosexuality or whatever, then it will put me off.

A flamboyant homosexual character would turn me off. I might still play the game if its fun, but I wouldn't like the main character at all. I won't play something just because the character is or isn't gay (and just how would I know their sexual orientation?)

Depends on my oddities of gaming. I usually get immersed in the game more when it's in the first-person view( FPS, flight sims, racing games). For those games, I like to pretend it's me in the game. So, no. I wouldn't play a homo protagonist.

If it's in the third-person perspective like the Tomb Raider and Lara Croft games, I know it's not me onscreen because I can see my character. For those kind of games, I don't pretend it's me in the game. I just control some character. For those kinds of games, I don't have a problem playing a homo protagonist.

Now, if the language and "gestures" become overly gay that would be a turn-off to me either way.

What made me laugh is TC's edit about his mom taking him to church if he did play a game with a flamboyant gay character. Like going to a church is going to change your opinion of a game, or better yet something about a person they don't get to choose. Nobody chooses to be homosexual. Perhaps I'm just not well versed in Soul Calibur, but when was Voldo viewed as being gay?

Anyway, I wouldn't mind playing a homosexual protagonist. However, it comes to a point of why does it matter. Is there a point to the protagonist being homosexual? Or are the developers throwing that in there to be different or to try and include everyone kind of thing?

How exactly a gay character will affect the game anyway. You can make Mario gay and replace the princess with a dude, it will still play the same.

There is no reason for a videogame to feature such a sterotype which would further the Gay political Agenda". The honest answer is No.

However I do support a videogame company being able to create and market such a videogame. Since the First Admendment regarding free speech. But I would not buy and play such a game.

I was thinking more along the lines of a typical western male protagonist(there are homosexual characters in Japanese games but their designs are different) who happened to be gay I think the character being open about it or flamboyant would turn off most players. Sex scenes are a no-no there can be kissing scenes with other guys though. I'd mainly like the character to be normal just to prove a homosexual can indeed be a normal person and most are. I think it would be interesting to play a game's story as a closeted masculine homosexual character it might be a little different from that kind of perspective.
