Nintendo's "Official Seal of Quality" never had anything due with quality or non-quality of the games released on their systems. It has due with licensing process. Also, in part, is has due with the games being able to function. Not to say Wii has noticeable amount of crap in its library because most certainly does... I simply want to see clear understanding of things.

The Wii is Nintendo's platform and they have final say in what is approved or declined for release on the platform, they have shown no effort in keeping utter garbage off of the system, even at this early point in its life when software quality should be essential. Thus far the only games of a significant quality for the system have been minigames and games that were originally conceived for the Gamecube, thats symptomatic of a larger problem at Nintendo.

It's truly shocking how low Nintendo's standards for third parties are in comparison to MS and Sony, and they're not doing anything to rectify it. What do you expect from a System that practically caters to non-gaming casuals who don't know better?

Developers, most of them, are simply not taking the Wii hardware that seriously, despite the notorious claims of astronomical surging sales. Sure there are some games that are at least caliber to some degree that will be on Wii to cater to desperate sheep and some core gamers. But in actuallity, shovelware, minigames and more shovelware will and only flood the Wii library like the ebola virus. Simply because it caters to non-gaming casuals who don't give a damn about Red Steel or Manhunt 2.

Yeah, read most of it, and really, Nintendo IS slacking, and they know it. But I think the reason they don't care, is because they know their main audience doesn't care/know what they are getting. Their main consumer audience isn't hardcore gamers, therefore they don't know a bad game when they play one. If it involves waving the wand around and has silly/pretty sounds/colors/animations, its fine. And if it doesn't have any blood, even better! Who cares if theres 5 pokemon ripoffs? They'll play them all!

No thanks, I've been spoiled by quality, and I can't go back and pay $50+ for a game that, for all intensive purposes is last gen. I won't even get a PS2 game for full price. I'll wait till I can get it for at least half price off Ebay, or GH.

I'll only pay $60 for current-gen games.

The only good parts of EGM now are the Hsu and Chan comics on the back page. And Shoe. Everything else about that Mag is garbage, and it's a shame really. It used to be my favorite because of it's wicked sense of humor, but it's been going downhill latey.

Also, just because it's the #1 VG mag dosen't mean it's good. I can garuntee you that G4 is the best VG TV station, and we all know what a load of Chicken Shoot that channel is.

Anytime a system sells as well as the Wii is, there is bound to be shovelware. It is Nintendo's fault though, they could decide to limit the shovelware. They haven't in the past though, just look at the GBA.

On as side note, while this particular article may be accurate, EGM as a whole has turned into a crap mag. About 5 years ago it was top notch, but all the good people left for other jobs.

The consoles that sell the most usually generate the most crap, but, in turn, also generate the most quality it seems. Look at the PS2 last gen. It had some great games, but it also had its share of garbage. The DS is an example of this: it has some truly great games, but because of its high sales it also has shovelware. I don't see the Wii following the same policy, though, considering that most developers are steering toward the more powerful consoles to develop their games.TheEndBoss

how does this affect any of us? no one here buys shovelware and it never effects us anyway. Do we curse on pc gaming because of solitaire, minesweeper, peggle? No because these games never make a system. They rarely make any real money and although they make profit we never here about them again (havent you noticed that the first time we heard about ninjabread man was from a wii-hater. Who are the posters who make topics about shovelware coming to the wii?, its certainly not the manticores, or the sheep, or those who enjoy the wii.)
