Yeah, I liked the old dashboard better, before the NXE was released. Still, it's not that bad...just have to put a little more work into finding stuff, but you'll get used to it :D.

Well duh, the PS3's "dashboard" is dull and boring compared to the 360's.

Why did you buy a Xbox and then start complaining about it on SW? Just sell it.

I HATE the 360 dashboard. It's a pain in the arse to navigate, lags like ****! And worst of all it's covered in ads! I didn't pay for XBL Gold so that Microsoft can inform me that there is a sale on useless piece of DLC #34534. I guess it just wasn't enough that they charge people for online and use the god awful MS points system.

It is poorly designed, even my xbox fanboy friends think so. It looks like it is designed for children, there are too many ads, and no customization.

HailedJohnDman

Ads on A DASHBOARD? That's pretty low. Ads on marketplace, fine...but ads on main menu etc.? The maybe unorganized dashboard shouldn't be the issue here, but the ads...I already am getting tired that sites like youtube, hotmail, msn and whatever are bombarding you with ads...but on even your own console? That's pretty low.

lol what ads? have you even seen an xbox dashboard? there are no ads.......

LOL this is what I dont get from cows, what freaking ads are you talking about? The only things that fall under "ads" on the dashboard are stuff like new XBLA games, new GoD games, new DoTW

downloaded a demo on 360 had no idea where it went after the download. took a long time to find it.

took about 10min to figure out how to add a friend to my friends list.

theres about 10 menu's that you can scroll up. then about 15 more options that your can scroll too the right

360 has a horrible clunky interface

See that big glowing button in the middle of your controller? Yeah, it looks like half a sphere with a glowing X on it. Press that. Everything you need to do can be done from the menu that pops up. A 3 year old with learning disabilities could figure that out. I should know.

Once you know, though, it's not hard to do either of these things again. And there are always multiple ways to do them. Whenever it says a demo is complete in the download announcement, just hit the guide button while the message is on the screen. Bingo... you're able to launch it. And if you didn't see the 'add a friend' tab on the Friends page, the visual lineup of your friends has a 'Add a Friend' greyed out avatar all the way to the right.

Yeah, the old dashboard was better. I like the XMB better than both, but that's probably just because I'm so used to it.

Wow the PS3 dashboard is stupid and confusing compared to 360.

It took me 10 minutes just to figure out how to download a demo.

Then I tried to cross-game chat and realized I couldn't on PS3.

see what i did there...

BodyElite

And I tried to play online for free on the 360 and realized I could not...

I tried to play online on the ps3, it worked! But then I poped in KZ2 and no one was playing online!

bububut i'm still playing kz2 online. :|

Yeah the 360 dashboard takes to long, way too many menu's to dig through just to look at saves, it looks nice but PS3 has it on speed. Everything is under the right place, looking at a game save is right under the Game section.

You not making it easy for me to stay within the tou when your topic title reads like that and you then go on to say you lost a demo on your xbox after you just downloaded it, but it sounds like the problem may be you and not the dashboard. I wouldn't say the dash is confusing anyway, its cluttered with useless advertising but not confusing.

lol I just gotta say this to every one calling the 360 nxe messy or bogged down. *its actually faster in response and loading then the xmb specially in games*

1.*goes to download a demo* monday night combat.

2. if I close it a guide tab pops up taking me directly to it. as well if I go back to the page it says play now.

3.If I want to check on my games download progress I hit the guide button then go to the marketplace tab and hit active downloads, I can play it from there.

4.upon startup of 360 go up once, to the right 3 times to game library it will be in your recent games list.

5.go over to the right once collections arcade games find it in the list.

hmm not confusing or hard at all...

lol i agree; saying that the 360 dashboard is confusing compared to the ps3's sounds like another stupid console argument. i guess the person who created this thread just got a 360 which just makes them a newb, but imo the nxe dashboard is real easy to navigate u can get to everything using the guide button

Both interfaces are dumb plain easy. I don't see how anyone could complain about any consoles interface right now.

CPM_basic

Well they are both super ugly but this ps3 has a little better looking interface compared the NXE interface which is beyond ugly. It's one of the reasons I switched to a ps3 besides the RROD problems. Maybe if it wasn't for the ugly interface I couldn't stand looking at I would have kept it.

i would call them announcements, since ads would be like coca cola putting cherry coke ad on the dashboard, and besides they actually make it easy for the player, for example, if they didnt have that ad for rdr, you have to go to marketplace, search, letter R, click red dead redemption, look for the dlc, confirm, download, with the ad, all you have to do is click, confirm then download, and what headphones? i never seen an ad for headphones before and i have been an xbl member since 2007....................

Eh, they both aren't that hard to navigate. Like with any UI, you can certainly have a greater grasp of things after using it for longer periods of times, even still I think both are fine. They do what they need to do, but they aren't perfect either and could definitely use some tweaking and improvements.

dont mind most people, alot of cows like to make out that NXE is filled to the brim with ad's, ads on the front page, 2ndary pages, game pages, in between pages...ect ad's for coke, pepsi, deoderant, viagra...ect when in reality the ad's are clearly defined, do not get in the way, ad's for xbox hardware, software...ect and lead you to relevent info and often game pages to buy things.

I'm not making anything up. I'm about to start Halo, shortly. I'll let you know all the garbage that I see. I'm not saying it is extremely difficult to navigate. My gripe with it is that I am paying for the service--they should allow some level of customization. I get annoyed when people ask me how to get to Netflix, etc. Personally I find it easy, but it would be nice if I could customize the layout for people that don't play games and are used to just hitting "play". That may sound silly, but it comes others that don't play games and aren't familiar with the xbox, or even a controller.

EDIT: One, would it kill them to have automatic login? Maybe there's an option, I don't know.

Two, Monday Night Combat? Why is this the first thing I see.

Three, Legends and Killers Pack. Someone made a good point about this. it really isn't that bad to show it.

Four, Pre Order Fable III today. Um, ok.

Five, Text to win? Um, no.

Six, On Sale Now: Blockbuster action films. So I have to see this when I'm paying for xbox Live AND netflix?

Seven, apps for Windows Phone 7. No thanks

Eight, Avatar GEAR for sale. Hahaha. Please

Nine, MORE addons.

It is just TOOOOO much clutter. It is more annoying than anything else.

RENEW YOUR GOLD TODAY.

Agreed, I liked the Xbox 360 blade system much better, so much more simple and tidy. Now it's just a convoluted mess of ads and menus.

But of course yes, the PS3's XMB is much more intuitive and easy to navigate.

No it's not, trying to find how to tweak a setting or anything along those lines is ridiculous. Sure its easy if you want to play a game or listen to music, but try doing anything further and it is a huge hassle compared to the 360. There have been reviews based off how easily settings can be changed for each console, guess what, ps3 is last each time. Hell the PS3 doesn't even update your wanna-be-achievements as it goes, you have to manual do it, fail. XBL was obviously a huge thing from the start with the 360 and everything is integrated perfect, whereas with the PS3 you can tell everything was last minute and not thought out thoroughly. The xbox is simple better.

The Xbox 360 dashboard does look nice, but it is less functional than the PS3's XMB. Things aren't really organized into clear-cut categories like they are on the PS3.

you mean when the demo finished downloading, and the pop up appeared saying so, and you hit the guide button it was confusing as to where the demo was when it gives you a big play now text?

I have no problem finding my games...since...they are under my games....

It is poorly designed, even my xbox fanboy friends think so. It looks like it is designed for children, there are too many ads, and no customization.

that alone tells me its simple to use.

I do not agree. PS3 settings are easy to tweak imo. All you have to do is scroll to the settings column and scroll down to the category you're looking for. Simple as that. Also, I find deleting stuff on the XMB is a bit (notice bit lol) faster as well(You just press triangle and select delete as opposed to navigating to Game Library, selecting the title, then finally selecting delete).

For the record, I don't think either are bad, but I prefer the XMB just a bit (feels like the loose analog stick allows you to scroll fast compared to the stiff analog stick on the 360, but it's a negligible difference).

Wow the PS3 dashboard is stupid and confusing compared to 360.

It took me 10 minutes just to figure out how to download a demo.

Then I tried to cross-game chat and realized I couldn't on PS3.

see what i did there...

And I tried to play online for free on the 360 and realized I could not. Then my mom got a job at the local fair, and then I could.

If only XBL gold gives you the option of removing the ads and customize the dashboard as you see fit, I might actually consider it.

the ads are there folks, the PS3 gives ads too. The ads however on the ps3 are all about games on "What's new". beef jerky ad on the 360, that bear character.

Yeah, because finding the tab that says "Game Library" in big white letters is pretty tough.

its fine if it pertains to games, but when i pay for it and get adds for sprint i tend to get a little angry.
