im not sure about the skilless (stop time aim at face and get head shot) unless you can only do that once or twice and then have to go back to normal FPS will it be any good else the game looks to be wayyyy to easy lol
other than that looks alright

yeah i dont get the whole stop time an aim and shoot, it looks prety g@y and boring, and the game is rather ugly also but i guess what do you expect in a post nuclear war world.
too bad it's on ps3, xb360.
if ps3 exclusive. I can imagine cows keep saying : look, it's CGI like game .:)

but still it takes away any skill. its like that god aweful KOTOR (i will get flamed for that) but i couldnt not stand that Haha. I did like oblivion that was good but it would be like... stop time then aim at head and swing sword. that would be so lame
honestly what is better shoot gun or select and click?
just seems it will make the game so easy. also so far there seems to be like 3 enemies on screen at once which isnt enough i want to be kicking major a$$ with that fatboy nuke thingy lol

Actually, it's strictly FPS with periphery RPG elements.
Nice try trying to pander to Bethesda though.

well, fortunately for you, you can play the game like an fps the entire time. other people might wanna take their time and watch people getting blown apart by teddy bears. and what was wrong with kotor's combat system? i thought it was brilliant and really added something to the gameplay.[QUOTE="o0squishy0o"][QUOTE="dooly420"][QUOTE="o0squishy0o"]it's not a fps at all. it's an rpg.im not sure about the skilless (stop time aim at face and get head shot) unless you can only do that once or twice and then have to go back to normal FPS will it be any good else the game looks to be wayyyy to easy lol

Just my thought on the (if it is) the stop time and click allll the time where will the skill be? the challange of the game will be lost.
what would be hard about the game if you could Headshot all the time?

you must not have seen the percentages next to the body parts showing you what chance you have of actually hitting the target you want to hit. you're obviously not gonna get a head shot every time.o rly?
thought that was health HAHA
still im not in favour of it if you can do it all the time lol
Hopefully, it'll be better than The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! Not that the latter was horrible but it could have been better.
The third-person perspective was quite bad, most of the cut-scenes were boring and overall, the game suffered from few, but annoying technical issues.
On the other hand, Fallout 3 includes a revamped over-the-shoulder mode and the plot seems to be more interesting.
My god... I watched the conference video.
Know when the Internet destroys your childhood by showing your favourite shows from youth in some horrible way? That is how I feel about Fallout 3.
Fixed.FallOut 3 = FPS of the year IMO

Anyway, right now Fallout 3 looks like complete garbage. You see I never realized that blood and gore made a game good. If that was the case then I'd hold Doom 3 in high regard, which I don't because that game was weak.
It's classifying itself as an RPG and when I play it, I'm gonna judge as an RPG and as a sequal. This game barely resembles the previous Fallouts, it isn't as in-depth since that you're forced to kill in this one whereas in the first 2 you could've talked your way throughout the entire game. Then there's the atmosphere and dark content in the first 2 Fallout games that are pretty much thrown out the window.
This is going to be a very bad RPG. It doesn't even look that good as a shooter.
Worries me immensely when the most outspoken critics of the game are the series oldest fans.
Seriously, should be a warning sign for everybody.
Danm_999
Oh I don't know, when RPG fans start complaining about a game being dumbed down and action orientated; it is a clear sign to action loving, RPG hating crowed it may be a worthwhile purchase.
If you have never played Fallout before you may actually enjoy this game, just don't try its predecessors or you are in for a shock.

Since when were RPG's skill based?
I loved Fallout 1 & 2 and I'm looking forward this game immensely. I'm glad the style for Fallout 3 has changed for the modern era of gaming. Move with the times people....or just go back to playing Baldur's Gate forever if that's is what you want to do.Ice_N_Fire
Would you be able to elaborate on this?
As far as I'm concerned, Fallout's excellent humour, atmosphere and story is something that will never go out of style.

So you're glad that Fallout 3 has become yet another unoriginal, mindless shooter filled with unnecessary gore and no roleplaying at all? Why exactly did you like Fallout 1 & 2 then? If modern era of gaming = dumbed down **** like this, then yes, I'm sticking with older games forever. At least in them you had, you know, CHOICE. Like you know, ROLEPLAYING games usually have?

So going from a turn based RPG to a FPS is changing to modern gaming? That would explain why everything is a FPS nowadays. Guess games like FFXIII and Dragon Age are waaaaaaay behind the times because they are not strictly played in a first person view and a projectile weapon, eh?
Also, Baldur's Gate and Fallout are nowhere near alike. I have a tough time believing you've played even one Fallout game.

Ok, Fallout was always full of unnecessary gore, that has not changed. You can still roleplay modern era RPGs. What I find most older gamers mean when they refer to the likes of oblivion and fallout 3 lacking any roleplaying is that they lack the old "choose 1 of 4 possible text options ranging from the flower power hippy option - *YES, i'll save you and you don't have to pay me anything*, to the ultra evil option - *NO, I'm not going to help you but you better hand over the potential reward right now or I'm eating your liver*. For me I've had enough of 'that kind of roleplaying'.
I guess what I'm getting at is that you can still get this out of modern era RPGs - you CAN still roleplay, its just not chopped up and fed to you in text options laden with weaksauce humour anymore - which kinda ruined the escapism for me. The less pop-culture reference in RPGs the better.

You don't know that - you're making a huge judgement on a game you haven't played at all. I seriously doubt Fallout 3 will be THAT shallow. These new era RPGs are what you make of them. Some imagination on the players part goes a long way usually.

Do you? Oblivion was.
That game gave you not one single meaningful choice to make. You could not change the story line in any way at all. Once you played through Oblivion what was there to go back and do? Side quests which have no effect on anything? Raid some dungeons that auto-repop and are always filled with monsters and loot of EXACTLY your level?
This is what gamers complain about when they say things are dumbed down and Fallout 3 looks no different. Hell it really could be a fun shooter but Bethesda shouldn't try and dress there games up as RPG's when then are soley Action Adventures.

How can this be modern era when this gameplay style has been done since the first elder scrolls?...
Its not modern, its an entire different developers milking of a franchise, I say milking, because its quite clear they chose to continue Fallout instead of making thier own because they know that they will have grabbed people without even trying.

See some of us have played Fallout, and the disappointment that was Oblivion, and have been keeping track of this game via developer interviews and information released to the public.
Oblivion with guns may be a over used phrase, but it is appropriate in explaining what everything about Fallout 3 is pointing to. You want to hand your money over to Bethesda and risk becoming disappointed that is your business, but common sense says if everything points to the game being a disappointment to Fallout fans then don't touch it.
I'm looking forward to fallout 3 as a game, I don't care about all the fan complaints at this time cause I have enough rpgs on my plate right now that I rarely don't mind the game taking a lighter approach to those elements.
I will agree that toning down a game like fallout isn't even funny, the game was for a lack of a better way of saying it, the perfect rpg, bar none!
I do feel though that the atmosphere people are taking about with the game has been taken away but considering the scope of the world it would to very resource taxing to make it as atmospheric as say "stalker", so I can understand why it feels more toned down then previous incarnations, its not so much a art decision but a technological limitation with the hardware (this could have been countered by keeping on the pc, but beth obviously wanted moola).
All the people complaining will more then likely play the game, its just natural curiousity that people would even if they don't argue with the design choices that beth themselves have taken with the title.
As for fallout 3 in genre defining, I'm not approaching it as a rpg, Its a stalker type title, heavy gun play (not done quite right) with light rpg elements.
