lol no, Far cry 2=realistic. The difference being that its actually fun to play.

Stringerboy

If you analyze FarCry 2 deeply, you will realize that it is totally unrealistic, just like any other shooter ever made. The only diference is that like few shooters, it "feels" realistic.

Far cry 2 is far from realistic.

1. Enemies who seem to have bulletproof vests yet they wear shirts or no shirts at all. Seriously, takes like half a mag to kill someone.

2. Respawning camp points after you destroyed everything.

3. Guns jam or rust after a real short period.

And the game was incredibly repetative. After about 5 hours of playing, I just uninstalled.

[QUOTE="swazidoughman"]

[QUOTE="BobRea"]I stopped reading when you said Counter-Strike was a floaty, unrealistic shooter.glez13

Well, CS is unrealistic.

I would even go as far as saying that it's a tad bit arcadey.

But that's only because it's a fast pased multi player FPS.

CS is arcadey. You can bunny hop, and weapons aren't realistic, due to changes made to balance things, this also affects hit detection sometimes. Atleast that is what I remember, I don't remember which version I used to play, and I haven't played Source much. In the shooter genre there is no such thing as Sims, some games try but they are still far from being realistic anyway, they just "feel" realistic.

1. obvious your shooting them in all the wrong places seeing how they can all easily be dropped in 2-3 well placed shots. 2. no denying it, that is pretty stupid...:( 3. over 40 hours logged into the game and have yet to have ONE single gun jam on me.

Did we play the same game? I had multiple guns jam on me. Maybe it's because I picked up guns a lot

And no, they did not drop in 2-3 shots. It literally takes half a mag.

Also, what's what this malaria thing? Annoying as hell,.

*laughs hard* so its realistic to take near 2-3 seconds to reload a weapon with a magazine? or 2 seconds to bring your gun up to aim? or to turn around? lol

I do agree that the malaria thing is annoying too. I think it was their way of making the game seem to take longer then it really should have.

Most games are unrealistic, such as killzone 2, you get shot afew times stay behind cover and the magical healing faerie will heal you (she been pretty busy this gen)Chaos_HL21
I hate that! You can fight off an entire army, get shot in the head a couple of times, hind behind a rock and ta-da more health! Some of the regenerative health systems make sense in games like Resistance, which aren't really going for the realism factor. But for games modelled on anywhere near modern day, realistic circumstances; health regen = big no no.

Red Orchestra is a pretty fun realisitic game.

On Topic I haven't played KZ2, but the scheme looks like it makes the game better than most others when it comes to immersion.

lol, right. It's "realistic" because it has weight. Because this narrow field of view, and poor dead zone is what everyone experiences IRL right?

When I walk around with a backpack filled with text books it takes me a full second after deciding to look to the left to actually do it. So realistic imo.

Just because you haters don't prefer realistic shooters, doesn't mean it isn't realistic. (thats gotta be the worst attempt at bashing)

(waits for haters to post smileys with there replies to make up for cheap comebacks and excuses)

Slambo86

Realistic ha, You have to shoot these guys atleast 7-10 times in the body to killl them. Head shots are what the game constantly demands. The recoil on the rifles are so bad with the floaty targeting. You don't know what your talking about! K2 is flawed!

I think realism in games do add immersion to the game. I think games like STALKER really pull it off well.

Im sorry but KZ2 is not realistic in any way possible. I don't think the heavey weight feel adds anything to the game it just makes the controls worse.

killzone2 is fake as hell

no prone crawl fakeI'll give you that one.

cant reload while running fake I think it would be extremely hard to reload your gun in real life while running

cant shoot while jumping fake No soldier in real life jumps and shoots.

cant shoot while sprinting fake Same as above

if your right handed you arent gonna lean around a corner on the left side and shoot with ur left hand fake. It's called blind firing

many other things, WTF you talking about weight im not a fatass i can move easy in real life lol. But having armour and alot of equipment weighs you down in real life

Yah.

cant reload while running fake I think it would be extremely hard to reload your gun in real life while running *the indians did it with muskets*

cant shoot while jumping fake No soldier in real life jumps and shoots. *and have you been in a battle or war? soldiers often use others to push them up over walls and use parascoles or mirrors to look over walls and shoot over them, whats to say they don't jump up and shoot over a wall to get a pop shot? they did it in trench warfare*

cant shoot while sprinting fake Same as above *when you have to shoot you have to shoot, i highly doubt a solider in war stops turns around and shoots when about 50 enemy combatants are taking shots at them*

if your right handed you arent gonna lean around a corner on the left side and shoot with ur left hand fake. It's called blind firing
*a person is more accurate on every thing with their dominate hand blind firing isn't an exception a soldier is more likely to blind fire with their back to a wall, then if they were facing it then put there left side around the left side of a wall too blind fire*

many other things, WTF you talking about weight im not a fatass i can move easy in real life lol. But having armour and alot of equipment weighs you down in real life*but soldiers are trained to peak physical fitness so they can move as easy with that equipment on as if they didn't have it on*

if they were going for realism then it would be a one shot one kill game where no matter where a bullet hits you your down.

killzone2 is fake as hell

no prone crawl fake While that is a shame not to include, lack of such an option is not conducive to absence of realism.

cant reload while running fake Actually you can. However, I would argue that-that's one of the more suspended qualities of the game since it's pretty difficult to run and reload if at all.

cant shoot while jumping fake No soldier in real life jumps and shoots. *and have you been in a battle or war? soldiers often use others to push them up over walls and use parascoles or mirrors to look over walls and shoot over them, whats to say they don't jump up and shoot over a wall to get a pop shot? they did it in trench warfare* Using mirrors is not the same as jump-gunning. I was trained as an infantryman in the reserve and shooting while jumping isn't only advised against, but if you're caught doing it you'll get penalized. It's both totally inaccurate and dangerous.

cant shoot while sprinting fake Same as above *when you have to shoot you have to shoot, i highly doubt a solider in war stops turns around and shoots when about 50 enemy combatants are taking shots at them* This absolutely and totally wrong and that kind of thinking wouldn't be tolerated in a military curicullum. You shoot someone when you're shooting someone; you run when you run. Specialized situations aside, it's never encouraged that you multi-task like that on the battlefield. Trying to run away and fight at the same time is a nono--and before you mention it, falling back is not the same as running away.

if your right handed you arent gonna lean around a corner on the left side and shoot with ur left hand fake. It's called blind firing
*a person is more accurate on every thing with their dominate hand blind firing isn't an exception a soldier is more likely to blind fire with their back to a wall, then if they were facing it then put there left side around the left side of a wall too blind fire* This is false. It is especially discouraged to maintain a position of cover with your back to the wall. If you try to take potshots with your back to the wall as a default position, you will be putting yourself in the line of fire more often.

many other things, WTF you talking about weight im not a fatass i can move easy in real life lol. But having armour and alot of equipment weighs you down in real life*but soldiers are trained to peak physical fitness so they can move as easy with that equipment on as if they didn't have it on* Oh for crying out loud! Go to basic, train with your pack on for about nine weeks and then try to tell me that you can run perfectly well with it on. The point of training with it on is to lessen its burden, not get to the point where you no longer notice it--that's impossible.

***

Whoever you are, I suggest you stop trying to lecture people on military procedure, because it's clear that you're an amateur.

A great deal of Killzone 2's qualities are realistic even if there are point of suspension and disbelief for the sake of its videogame status. You guys need to get over that.

Any FPS without a health meter = unrealistic in my books. Not taking anything away from them, but if I can run through a group of 100 or so enemies and not die because I hid behind a wall, yeah, not realistic.

even in health bar games it's unrealistic because if u stay afk for 2 weeks u don't regenerate health and yur not crippled when u have crtical health. Sometimes recharging health makes sense for example in crysis u have a nanosuit.

A lot of times that's true. That's why its rare or impossible to see a TOTAL simulation of real life in video games. There has to be some reality suspended for creativity, fun factor, etc.

KZ2 isnt realistic. Why would you want a game thats realistic? Dosent that defeat the purpose of video games? Now a game like Heavy Rain is realistic but thats far from main stream.

OMG you have no idea what you are talking about. KZ2 is NOT realistic, Rainbow six 1 2 and 3 Ghost Recon and maybe GR2 they are realisic games. Project Reality and Red orchestra ARMA and flashpoint these are games that held up as realisic not **** killzone 2. KZ2 plays with such piss poor look sensitivtiy not realism. Yes it has weight and momentum but that doesn't make it a sim.

That logic's kinda cheezy. Health meter's are a lot lot less realistic than health regeneration. I mean, both are unrealistic. But a second wind is a lot more believable than a fixed/accurate perception of how much health you have left to waste.

It's there to keep the flow of the game going. It sucks to constantly be scavenging for health packs every time you fight an enemy or two. That was one of the faults I hated about HL2. I must have found at least a thousand health packs in that game because of how that game works. That's no more realistic than regenerative health :| Though I liked how L4D did it actually.

Any FPS without a health meter = unrealistic in my books. Not taking anything away from them, but if I can run through a group of 100 or so enemies and not die because I hid behind a wall, yeah, not realistic.

Lol, yeah recharging health has become a standard in games. I'm sick of it, but in games it works. Even thought it's unrealistic.

I barely needed hath packs in HL2 and it's episodes. There is certain playstyle for HL. Same goes for other games, like Unreal. If you are good, that is.

Depends on how the game is designed. I WISH more devs would find ways to make it apart of the gameplay and pacing to heal yourself.

Even then, the most realistic way is to go to the hospital and spend a few weeks in bed. Ultra realism!

It takes 6 shots to the chest from point blank to mortally wound someone with the M82 in KZ2.

Get me an M82 and let me shoot you in the chest. We'll count the bullets till you die. I suspect the number would be far lower then 6.

So, how realistic is it again?

Wow, people misunderstood me. When i said REALISTIC i was JUST referring to gameplay/gunplay...nothing else. Not health bars, or the entire game.

Just the realism of holding and using a weapon. Including hit detection/animations.

No way is Killzone 2 realistic. So on that count your full of fail there TC. Compare it to Americas Army, and you will see a shooter much closer to realism. While yes, there are areas games can still work on for full realism also being unrealistic isn't a flaw. So whoever says that should be complaining about what 99% of games?

:| You're trying too hard.

That was from the E3 08 demo. The game is as polished as it can literally be in the retail version. The animations are top c|ass and the hit-response system is unprecedented.

Except HL2 doesn't have you scavenging for health packs :|
