When the X1X has to resort to dynamic resolution with a 30fps target, the CPU isn't the bottleneck.

It's nowhere near a GTX 1070 like the clown claimed. The price to performance ratio is excellent though, especially now that GPU prices have skyrocketed it would be good for anyone looking for midrange PC performance at a decent price. Xbox one X hovers between a GTX 1060 to GTX 1070 depending on the optimization and cpu workload. The GPU by itself is as strong as a GTX 1070 and can outperform it depending on the optimization methods.

Anyone claiming a GTX 1060 outperforms the Xbox one X's GPU is shortsighted towards the other specs at play. The Mighty X has a higher bit memory bus and much higher memory bandwith than the RX 580, not to forget it also has custom Vega architecture changes the RX 580 does not posses. Next to that the X has a much higher Vram count than a GTX 1060, allowing for even higher texture maps with further draw distances.

On a handfull of games the X performs even slightly better than a 1070. You can look up the benchmark charts yourself. Fact of the matter is there is so little fidelity difference between pc max settings and X, that with cpu optimized games the X can get away with 1800-2160p solid 60fps gaming. For console gaming, that's revolutionary.

It’s as if he says that to draw your eyes away from the fact that the X1X version casts dynamic shadows from the branches being moved by the wind. Those same moving branches on the PC cast a static shadow.

Any one with half a brain cell has always known X is not even close to a GTX1070.

Heck if you look at the raw specs an RX580 has more fill rate, texel rate and shader power.... only thing it's beaten on is memory bandwidth as X has slightly more.

And the RX580 is a good 40%+ slower then a GTX1070.

I've tried explaining this to Ronbot many times but he never listens.

That's why he's all but vanished on this forum....... he has stated that it's because he's become busy at work.

But it's a bit of a funny coincidence that as the proof comes out he was massively wrong with his claims and as he's made to look like a clown his work load increases..... funny that.

*dynamic resolution on the X from 1800-2160p on most titles runs mosly +2000p (source: Digitalfoundry).

*settings on high/ultra and shadows mostly set to medium, exceptions are included where X has HDR and Ultra+ settings.

* X running at mostly locked 30/60fps while GTX 1070 struggles those locked numbers at ultra.

*X's GPU fps bottlenecked by it's cpu, where as these 1070 benchmarks use the highest tier CPU's.

*Console optimization could grant higher settings for the X in places.

*1080p gaming on pc is superior in performance due to CPU restrictions on the X.

Factoring in all these equations, the X's GPU trades blows with a GTX 1070 looking at these benchmarks and actually pretty far off from the GTX 1060 performance at 4K. It can exceed a GTX 1070 due to it's console optimized nature, if done so by a talented studio. The X is simply bottlenecked by CPU heavy games. But I know for a system warrior like yourself it's hard to keep in mind a multitude of factors, then add and substract with neutral logic and unbias and in mind and reach said conclusion. That and without reacting with a braindead comment lacking of any trace of originality in humor.

I'm not sure why so many people are dismissing this with "so, it's the cpu, not the gpu". Does it matter? There's nothing an X1X owner can do about that. Since almost no PC gamer will have an inferior CPU - ESPECIALLY not paired with a 1060 - there's basically no use case where your argument is relevant. The fact of the matter is, the effective output of the X1X, regardless of the root cause, is not a substantial leap over a contemporary PC with a 1060 in it. Take TW3 in 1080p mode - those framerates are ones I was rocking, at better graphical settings, on a Phenom II X4 from 2009.

@scatteh316: Yes, yes it does. Especially for the 2016/2017 games released that I mentioned in my previous post. All benchmarks point to a GTX 1060 performing at lower framerates for said games at 4k.

Titanfall 2 or Battlefront 2 are very good examples of that.

@Juub1990: I'll gladly correct the misinformation, if that is truely so. Titanfall 2 runs 32fps average on ultra 2160p on a GTX 1060. It runs mostly on 2160p average 60fps on high/ultra on the X (variations from 1800-3200p). edit: I was corrected that Titanfall actually runs at 1400-2160p and mostly hovers between 1400-1800p. Sorry for the initial misinformation. The GTX 1070 outperforms the X here.

2160p ultra Battlefront 2 a GTX 1060 runs 28fps average.

Battlefront 2 High/ultra settings 1800-2160p (average above 2000p) with medium shadows at 60fps stable on the mighty X.

I can guarantee you you won't run the same locked 60fps framerates at X settings and resolution with a GTX 1060 on these games. Same can be said for the other mentioned titles.

It might matter if they're frame by frame identical. But, they're not. Plus, the lightning aren't hitting at the same areas in the two videos.

That shadow looks more like someone forgot to take it off because it didn't even react to the lightning in the background.

Because you say so? Go ahead and test them out please. As it stands, you're comparing apples to oranges. You have the 1060 running much more taxing settings and a static 4K resolution. Where are you getting that Titanfall 2 is a mix of High/Ultra on Xbox One X? Not that I care about that anyway because I already said and know that the Xbox One X will beat out the 1060 more often than note but it won't match a 1070.

Get a GTX 1060 and run it on the settings digitalfoundry thinks the X runs on. Then try running it at 2160p, bench it, and add the differrence in resolution between 2160p - X avg res as a % fps difference. Then compare the fps to the X.

Out of all the available benchmarks and settings info you can easily conclude the X's GPU has much more horsepower than a GTX 1060, due to the aforementioned factors.

It doesn't run "mostly 4K at High/Ultra".

Battlefront 2 on X1X ... uses Checkerboard rendering to reach 4K and also uses dynamic resolution scaling to lower texture resolution to maintain framerate in demanding areas. Overall the settings on x1x is comparable to High settings. X1X has multiple performance saving features with upscaling and dynamic settings that the 1060 only has dynamic texture resolution ability while having to render alot more pixels onscreen vs X1X's checkerboarding.

@GioVela2010: Except that the reference GTX 1060 for $300 is the founder's edition while the normal 6GB model and 3GB model are $249 and $200. You do know someone had to buy those "New" X1X that are on the FB marketplace right and I doubt they're in large enough supplies to be a plausible option for many people.
