If both games are exactly the same like Rockstar says and yet one version gets additional exclusive content down the road then which one based off of the current information that you know would you choose?

I'd get it for the console which Rockstar already announced and confirm exclusivie episodic content for. Plus the console is less expensive than the other one.

$350 (360 pro) $400 (40GB ps3)

If I was going to buy the game I would get it on the PS3 regardless of the extra content that may be lost once the system fails again. Where the hard copy there is no chance of this happening at any time. Really the PS3 version may have all the content on the disc when it's released without having to download the extra things.

The arcade is a really gimped version of the console. I would imagine them going towards teh Pro model becasue of the HDD. and to get everything you have in a 40gb PS3 (HD movie playback, WIFI, etc.) you would be spending way over $400

See told you, they don't compare the starting price for each then they list the things you "need". Speaking about gimped the 40 gigs are the gimped PS3, they removed usb ports and BC. Remember the 360s started with the core and pro then introduced newer skus adding features while the PS3 is going backwards by taking out features.

This is really bad damage control for many reasons. First of all the Exclusive DLC is not going to come at the games launch. So how would it be on the PS3 game disc? Secondly if it was on the PS3 game then it wouldn't be called exclusive would it? Lastly if your 360 breaks down you don't send them the hardrive just the 360.

You have to admit that long extended play periods favors PS3. I don't get how our 360 bros. seem to think the extra content is going to be free. No matter what its going to cost on either system.

Lots of damage control going around these days. When the 360 boasts a benifit lets just say that 100% 360's RROD to hide our insecurities while we are at it.

it's not a large enough of a benefit to offset missing the game for prolonged periods of time because of repairs

if we're talking about free, bundled, exclusive content that defines the game's core, then maybe

we're talking about some add-ons that will cost dough

not enough to risk missing a possible GOTY because of the rrod

but you can't really tell

can you?

it would be akin to running home with a new copy of halo3, playing a couple minutes, and seeing the worst happen (which I've seen happen to a colleague of mine)

that's just my opinion

i'm sure there are plenty others who feel the DLC more than outweigh this "insignificant" detail

I get it for the console with rumble in the controllers and you don't have to import anything, everyone have headsets so you could talk to each other about how the game is so awesome also so you would know where in the city are your teammates are at, achievements so everyone will believe you when they see that you got all the secret packages and did all the side missions and beat up 1000 hookers for example, have custom sound tracks just incase you want less talk more rock, and also for the lead platform that will get exclusive episodic content.

You know being a person who has never really been a huge GTA fan. A guy who has never owned nor beaten one GTA game I find the GTA fanbase to be, how should I say....Illogical.

This is simple. This is like 1+1 simple.

If both games on both systems are the same thing as claimed by Rockstar we'll just say that GTA4 = X

Both games are the same but one gets additional Exclusive DLC which we'll say Exlusive DLC = 1

So using my common logic and putting ones controller preference or wanting to play with a black system over a white system, vice versa or any other silly pet peeve that they might have that has nothing to do with the content on the disc you can conclude that.

X + 1 > X

So it boggles my mind and clearly I am not understanding this whole concept. I mean here I am thinking that people who like GTA will buy GTA4. So why the hell would any informed person choose a version that doesn't offer as much content as another version

It doesn't make sense. Well at least I didn't until the comments such as.....

  • Because 360 RROD's after 30 minutes
  • Because 360 will break down
  • Because GTA is a Playstation game
  • Because more people played GTA on Playstation
  • ect
Essentially these people are attacking the system. A basic cop out instead of praising the game.

Simply put if one was to be a GTA fan and had the option to buy either version of the game based off of what we know now right now. If they were to choose the version without the exclusive content I'd really have to question them on what they are doing.

To put it simple why shouldn't one think that any GTA fan who dismisses the inclusion of the "exclusive DLC" a fanboy of one console or a hater of another?

This is the most confused I've ever seen a games fanbase about a game they want. There is just too much denial about.

Blackbond

QFT. Real GTA fans who owns both will get it for the one with the exclusive episodic content.

I don't play GTA myself, but your logic is preset to think the DLC is good. Is the DLC worth the value of all the things we mention before?

  • Because 360 will break down

Blackbond

might

not will

it's called risk tolerance

different people have different levels

i'm not a hardcore gta fan so the DLC means nothing to me anyway (not that I'd be willing to pay for it anyway) so I'd obviously opt for it on the system that is less likely to break down and more likely to let me enjoy the game over a long period of time (i must've played vice city for over a year)

There was nothing simple about that sentence.

Though, I agree with it. Highly confusing. Even some people who own neither console are still looking at the PS3 version... even though the 360 one will be better. Stated. Definite. Doubtlessly better.

I get it for the console with rumble in the controllers and you don't have to import anything, everyone have headsets so you could talk to each other about how the game is so awesome, achievements so everyone will believe you when they see that you got all the secret packages and did all the side missions and beat up 1000 hookers for example, have custom sound tracks just incase you want less talk more rock, and also for the lead platform that will get exclusive episodic content.

Link to Rockstar stating 360 was lead platform. Otherwise you dont know that for fact.

Its a fact that all GTA4 game footage was using the 360 hardware. Its a fact the reason GTA4 got delayed because of the PS3. Its a fact that Peter Moore showed off a GTA4 tattoo on his arm.

Don't forget that most of you guys think your getting DLC for free. If you can't finish the game without DLC I can seee your point. But..... the right to BUY$ new levels after a 20+ hour experience seems a little cheesy.

Oh, come on. This is MS. There's no way it will be free.

I expect it to be priced similarly to Mass Effect's DLC.

And, I expect GTA IV to take more than 20 hours. I think it took me like 50 or 60 to beat GTA:SA.

That just proves:

1. They had two seperate teams working on the game side by side and that the 360 team was finishing faster.

2. Theres no fact that it was the only reason. The only news story I saw stating the PS3 was THE reason was some dumb Analysts take on it.

3. Peter Moore is an Idiot.

Until I get a quote from R* stating the 360 as the lead SKU, all your doing is speculating.

Don't forget that the other vresion has NO OPTION to get the DLC. You realize you aren't getting GTA4 for free correct? Regardless of which the one version has the choice while the other version does not. If one should want additional content then he can. If one on the other platform should want additional content then what is he left with?
