It wouldnt be worth the extra money to make 1 any more powerful than the other, only 1st party games would take advantage of the extra power.
I looked too fast and thought you were shadowmoose and my jaw dropped. Will sony even have another system? I don't know if they can afford it.

You can buy a junk computer for $500 and a junk game console for $500, or you can build an awesome PC that does everything better than either of them for $1000. It's not for everyone, but it's for people who like having one thing that is awesome as opposed to two things that are not so awesome.I doubt a $1000 pc today would be able to beat the Xbox 720. Funny, AMD already stated next gen consoles would be using semi-custom parts based on existing designs. There wouldn't be another unified shader design shift. You can buy a junk computer for $500 and a junk game console for $500, or you can build an awesome PC that does everything better than either of them for $1000. Actually the Move is fantastic, it just doesn't have many games and no one bought it because the implementation and marketing was horrible. And when a product fails, it doesnt sell. Thats exactly what I meant. it doesnt matter how well it worked. pchchchk wolverine detaching. pchchchk[QUOTE="Sali217"][QUOTE="wolverine4262"] :lol:Move:lol: The difference is one is failure.wolverine4262
Really? That certainly wasn't the case this gen.Doesn't matter everything is always restricted by the lowest common denomiator which in this gen will be the Wii U.

according to certain AMD employee that we have here on SW (ronvalencia is how you write his name?) it will be the PS4. Why? He says that since the APU is a CPU and GPU at the same time then it's already way more powerful than any individual CPU and then you add a discrete card and voala, a powerful machine.
MS is making tons of cash on the 360... Sony is having a hard time of it atm, financially anyways.
It's pretty transparent to see which console will be the beefier of the 2.
But will the difference be big enough to make a difference is the question.
In terms of power of consoles for this new gen. it'll be:
XBOX >>>> PS4 >> Wii U - My prediction

possible... but I still dont think Sony is going to invest too much and be forced into a high price at launch, essentially greatly lowering their initial sales.... more than likely, they'll keep the system simple, as close to the power of MS's machine without breaking the bank.... so they can break even on the system at least, and move them off the shelves.
If Sony can secure a great gaming library like they did with the PS2, they could make a return in a big way.... but with the momentum MS is gaining and with the rising costs of developing titles.... it'll be hard for Sony to convince devs to keep their games on a Sony machine.
Both will be severely owned by the PC the second they hit retail. Ignorant and incompetent consolites will spend the next 7 years whining "resolution doesn't matter", "better texture don't count", and "mods don't count". I'm probably forgetting a few, but then again it isn't easy to emulate consolite dumbassery.

What's wrong with playing console games? Mario/Zelda is awesome. Donkey Kong Country as well, not to mention Metroid. Halo is a very good franchise too. Also what about Uncharted & Bayonetta and such. Or, Final Fantasy Tactics, Lost Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption, Valkyria Chronicles & God of War.
Maybe you should stop worshiping your rig and start enjoying a broader range of games.
Don't bother referring to me as a consolite.... I've had a rig for the past 12 years or so... upgraded every year or every other year. I buy most multiplats for PC. But I wouldnt call myself a gamer if all I played was what one device offered. There is a name for those people... they are called "casuals"
Base purely on performance, Xbox will probably win. Synergy.
PC will always beat console but for the comparison, keep in mind that the ps3 hold a huge 512 mg of RAM...
Being Sony, I would take a bit of the custom possibility of PC. I would use expansion slot as a way to increase the power of the console...For example, it's a fact that for game developer, you never have enough RAM in a system, so why not using that fact to open the console for some customization?
However, popularity will be something else. Does the new psn will be easier to use than the Xbox live? Will PS4 block anyhow the used game industry? Remember the Dreamcast, very powerful unit, but doesn't last long...
No one knows but I bet Sony is more motivated after what happened this gen, so if I had to guess i'd say PS4.
They'll probably end up being as close as this gen except both will have blu-ray.

On FMA workloads, i7's FLOPs would be halved i.e. 2 cycle throughput (execute on MUL pipe then on ADD pipe). Intel fixes this issue with Haswell.
Intel would be removing one of the few remaining advantages for the PowerPC, while AMD already fixes this issue..
I think they will be very similar in performance.
But if I had to pick I would say the 720 has a bigger chance of coming out more powerful.
Just think about Microsoft's last two consoles.
The Xbox was much more powerful than the PS2 but it did come out a year later.
The Xbox 360 is very similar in performance to the PS3 yet it came out a year earlier.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are much the same but with the Xbox being more developer/multiplat friendly and the PS4 possibly having more power if the game design is optimised for the hardware. You will mostly see it with the exclusives on the system. If those specs where the Xbox has 8GB of RAM and the PS4 4GB of faster RAM have any truth to them this will be the case.
the ps4 can be an equal or even inferior machine to the 720 and cows will still convince themselves it's the most technologically advanced console ever made. just look at this gen. :P
My guess would be they are both nearly the same, but in a evolving way. Look at Nvidia and amd(ATI) both of their video cards are mostly on par (more or less); directx/opengl can be done by either one great. One marginally better than the other and they go back and forth each new video card generation. For a game console the GPU in either console will likely either be an AMD or Nvidia. The CPU will likely be either an Intel or AMD. For games both amd and intel are close and both nvidia and amd are close. It's no surprise.
All I can hope for is that the games will look much better than today's games and the gameplay scales with it.

Recent guidance statement by Rory Read - "Our semi-custom APUs already have a number of confidential high-volume design wins in place"
Notice
1. "semi-custom APUs" i.e. containing both AMD CPU and GPU. We already know Wii U doesn't use AMD APUs.
2. "design wins" - more than one desin win.
We can safely rule out Intel and NVIDIA for Xbox Next and PS4.

There is a thing called Emulators.Nobody knows. Rumors are just rumors. There is nothing solid. It's meaningless to even talk about at this point.
im afraid thats not how it works casey. its pretty much all but confirmed the PS4 > 720.My console rumor is better than your console rumor !
