I'm not disputing that, PS4 may have a graphical advantage in some games due to extra GPU power. Its one of many factors.

My ps4 sounds like a jet taking off after a bit of use (it is well vented) so I hope they don't overclock it. xbone is whisper quiet.

Doesn't take a genius to realize that the cooling solution matters a lot. I'd imagine with the power brick being internal wont help if clock was increased.

And no one knows the effects be it and or heat increase and voltage stress until they try it, could cook it for all we know.

Minor increase in pc clock can be the difference sometimes between a stable system and a crashy one.

Lol Tormentoes acting like Sony planned for a early 2015 release for exclusives. They were delayed to this year. No one sells games this early after Christmas because the market sucks. They missed the holiday window and fucked up.

this is false, the textures are the most important aspect of a 3d image outside of lighting, texel density is what determines how good a model looks, considering most details in models now come from normal maps. Without extremely large texture maps progressive meshing would not be very success full. Most texture dimensions exceed the resolution for this reason. Texel density also has to be managed, which is where mip mapping comes in to reduce telex density over distance. You don't have one map per object as well, each object can at least 4 maps.

You would not keep all the textures for a scene plus 2(or 3 ) frame buffers in the memory at the same time. You would not have space for animation and other necessary items. render pipelines cannot simply load everything into memory from the get go anymore its just not feasible.

Actually depends on the game world being rendered. Both the PS4 and X1 have to share the memory among the OS+features which leaves around 5gb of usable memory for both the game cache and vram. So both consoles will generally have 3gb or less of memory for vram for most games. Larger the game world/level more memory is needed be be reserved.

Your getting to caught up in just what a specific company decides to name tiling, those cards may not have built in PRT as they advertised but the same function can be accomplished in Direct 3d and Open GL with S3TC compression. You are still tiling the texture and mipmaps as needed and not preloading all of them at once. Texture resolution determines how many Texel's there are per pixel, as the object moves away you need to calculate how each local telex will shade or map to that pixel. The end resolution just determines the level of clarity. Bad AA will only effect the edges of the model, it does not effect the interior. Texture resolution is far more important than screen resolution. You can always optimize screen resolution for the best balance, but if you have low texture resolution then there is no hiding that regardless of your final screen resolution. Textures are generally stored as a power of 2 in size, this is what creates your tiles a math function that determines the objects distance from the virtual camera. Don't get caught up in the hype tiling resources have been around for a long time wether its just through software or hardware is the difference. It seems now they are preprogramming shaders to allow for it just making it easier that is all. S3TC compression has been around since the 80's if i remember correctly.

Yeah that is call virtual texturing which is what Rage uses,but Skyrim is not a virtual texture game neither is Crysis.

S3TC compression doesn't work like PRT does.

It is always good to have more memory,but the fact is for the class GPu both the xbox one and PS4 have 5GB of vram, is more than enough,look what the 360 and PS3 achieved with much less,and stronger GPU than both still deliver sharper textures even when they have less memory,for example my R270 which allow me to have sharper textures than my PS4 yet it only has 2GB of vram.

1-No you haven't show a single link from AMD claiming PRT work better on 2 memory pools.

1. I have shown you Microsoft's 9 GB texture data being stream from system memory to VRAM and DDR3 memory is faster than SSD.

2. The programming expectation for PS4 doesn't include SSD.

3. The programming expectation for PC is non-fix hardware e.g. minimum specs and recommended specs.

4. Better multiplatform PRT game would be Doom 4 e.g. a player can get close to the walls.

Find me a link where AMD state that PRT work better with 2 memory pool,and prove to me how having to move date from one pool to another is faster than moving data from just 1.

And textures are stored on the disc and have to load from the disc into the main memory where the hell do you think they will load from,DDR3 doesn't come pre loaded with Tile resources from games,no the textures get install on the HDD and stream to memory no matter what you are limit by what your HDD can stream to memory,my professor in PC use to call that a Bottleneck.

You don't have to program for SSD to be able to take advantage of it buffoon,and your own chart showed that.

Trials is superior on PS4 and Tile Resources didn't change that so yeah it is useless to brad about 2 memory pools and crap like that when the end result is simple the PS4 will have the superior version because it is stronger period.

Yes it is but you are streaming textures to partially load them in DDR3,then move them to ESRAM how is that faster than moving textures directly to GDDR5.?

Is the notion that using 2 things to do the same thing is better than using one..

AMD PRT was initially designed for OpenGL workstation applications with fast RAID array setups.

Trial Fusion shows direct HDD to VRAM on consoles shows texture pop in issues i.e. there's a mismatch with console's storage selection or the size of the texture stream. AMD PRT looks nice on paper and doesn't look nice when it's coupled with a slow HDD. We'll see how Doom 4 overcomes console's storage issues or it's another texture pop in issue game title.

MS's 9 GB Tiled Resource demo doesn't have to worry about HDD issues since it's streaming textures from faster main memory to fastest/smaller VRAM. Remember, fast/smaller VRAM is being use as a cache and cache hit rates are important. Notice CPU has several level of cache e.g. level 1, level 2 and level 3. My point, use DDR3 as lesser level cache below the faster/smaller VRAM. For PS4, there's no option but to use GDDR5 as a-look-ahead buffer. Again, Trial Fusion's texture pop ins shows the limit for direct slow HDD to VRAM streaming.
