Xbox 2 Reveal Coming In Spring, Xbox 1.5 Later This Year, Xbox TV In The Works- RUMOR

Already a few issues I have with the article:

Says mobile killed handheld (the casual killed off the hardcore), then makes a faulty comparison and says PC will kill off console (hardcore killing off the casual)

Makes a comparison to smartphones, another faulty comparison as one is heavily subsidized and a necessity, while the other is a luxury entertainment good.

Incorrectly assumes that mobile poses any significant threat to consoles, which is about 5 years out of touch. Anyone following hardware sales trends can tell you that the effect of mobile on overall hardware/software sales is minimal to nonexistent. Mobile gamers are a different demographic, playing for different reasons, and often has a lot of overlap with console gamers.

Incorrectly makes the assumption that a new console leads to "an entire reset in terms of hardware and software" which is incorrect with how full BC will work going forward

Says that console iterations are needed for it to keep up with PC gaming, and then says that handheld gaming had iterations (and even used it in favor of the argument for iterative consoles) despite the fact that, gee I don't know, handheld gaming died to mobile.

And this was just from a cursory reading of the article, I'm sure I could find more.

Like I said, if you have something to say, say it please. Don't just refer me to your trite articles made by those who have not been following the industry and its trends for many years. These are the same "consoles are doomed" naysayers, these are the same clickbait writers who makes faulty comparisons and write off of limited information to make articles about VR, motion controls, 3D TVs, etc. being the future. And then they just quietly slink off into the night when it never happens.

xbox 1.5 is the slimmer version of the xbox one, least that's how i see it. A streaming type device was mentioned but why bother with that? You can already do that already on xbox one and stream games to your Windows 10 PC

I still maintain that the neo is being released to assist with VR and 4K video playback. It will not need an external processor for VR like the original PS4 will need.

I don't think Sony will cut the price of the original PS4. They will instead keep it where it is and introduce the PS4 Neo at a higher price. PS4 is still selling well and there's no need to drop the price at the moment.

I think any one saying this is bad was also saying it for the PS4,i my self thinks is great that MS does a 1.5 xbox one,the X2 make no sense really because releasing a more powerful console this holiday and having a sequel next year really make no sense.

Unless The slimmer XBO is actually on par with the fat XBO,and the 2017 model is the one with more powerful hardware.

Why don't they just release a new console every year? This is just going to drive people to PC.

While I agree, the X1 has quite a bit of negativity attached to it. That may be the reasoning. I think MS has done a commendable job in trying to right the X1 ship but first impressions do have an effect that is hard to shake. They deserved the flak for the most part, and may be releasing this "1.5" with a new name in order to separate themselves from the X1 backlash.

I'm starting to lose all interest in E3, I hope these rumors aren't true.

@tormentos: That's how I viewed it: the slim is the cheaper and similarly powered option. The second one is either more powerful or will possibly be upgradable.

I think the slim can be out this year or early next yea, but it's in their best interest to not bring out the second one until 2018 at the earliest.

Great news for sure for gamers all over the world. Looking forward to the Xbox 1.5 and Xbox 2. Looks like Scorpio will dominate the market. I wish it was fall and spring already!

Actually, Phil said he won't release a neo. He doesn't want a small upgrade. He wants a full upgrade for the next Xbox full release.

I don't think that's how it's intended to work. I think the idea would be new games on Neo have 60fps, and so they will on PS4 - and it will be the PS4 version that will need to be tweaked to hit the parity mark (e.g., take an even bigger hit on gfx to hit 60).

From XBO to polaris 10 is a huge ass upgrade.

On paper? Yes. In terms of actual real world results? No, it's slower than it's ever been. That's why people are becoming disgruntled this gen, they expect constant graphical and gameplay improvements when it simply won't happen, at least not close to the rate of any previous gen.

We hear about rumors of hardware releases and slims EVERY YEAR, and MOST of them never pan out. Though I could see an Xbox 2 next year IF they can do FULL backwards and fowards compat (like a PC) with the X1. If they can't, then this won't happen next year.

Keep in mind I agree with you. I think it's stupid to announce a 1.5 then shortly after their next gen outing. I wont be buying anything new from them or Sony in the near future.

The small upgrade from X1/PS4 to NEO is something Phil doesn't want. He wants BIG, not little.

I am looking forward to the small bump we get with NEO, and I will be looking forward to the larger bump with Scorpion.

My Xbox One hasn't had a lot of great games.

If people upgrade their hardware they want remastered games not backwards compat ones that look like 360

That's why people upgrade PC to get best version of games.

I hope these new xbox ones will fix issues with the gaming library and improve old games like owning a powerful PC does.

Glad the rest of us don't have your Xbox One. Ours has great games. Maybe yours is under warranty still?
