[QUOTE="dsmccracken"][QUOTE="lbjkurono23"] Did I ever said it was? No

lbjkurono23

So it's not, but I'm extreme for pointing it out?

Now your just being silly. I never said it was a "major experience ruining event". So II don't know what exactly "you're pointing out" In fact I said it was a minor annoyance.

My original statement was not aimed at you or your position on the matter. My subsequent rebuttal was only in reference to your calling my statement "extreme" when it was nothing of the kind.

Oh I see... I didn't even realize that the post I originally responded to was you, since that was a post from page one and I assumed that was way back and that the poster was long gone. Anyway, if your original post's point was that stopping to change discs was a problem, then my point in rebuttal would be that it is no more so than normal things that we don't harp on, like stopping to grab a drink or to answer the phone.

I wonder why Dead Space 2 requires two discs - I don't think it'll be any longer then the first one.. must be something that requires a lot more space. In any case, changing the disc isn't really an issue.

So.... is everyone going to keep arguing that DS2 sucks on 360 for having 2 dvds..? Cause if you are, maybe you should check the source, which is bogus. I'm also unable to find any proof that DS2 is on two dvds for 360 anywhere else, as well.

it's funny that everything on the internet mentioning it has two discs I've read links this same exact article, funny thing is that no article was ever written just for the purpose of saying Dead Space 2 has 2 discs, makes me wonder if it's even true, or that maybe the person writing the article meant to say Mass Effect 2 instead, and I'm still curious whether the one writing this is just a blogger or a gaming journalist

I had my doubts, went into the EA forums to see if there was anything else, found this unboxing video, shows a disc labelled DISC 2, sounds legit, I also thought maybe it was a special features disc since it was the collector's edition but I think if that were the case it'd simply be labelled as such

Bad for us? Not at all. Bad for devs? Maybe with extra manufacturing costs, though I'm not too sure.

Good find, thanks. Hmm... I just don't see how a game like DS2 NEEDS two dvds then... I suspect that DS2 was developed with the PS3 being the lead console. (like DS1) In that case the devs may have not been concerned with size, and when porting DS2 to the 360, two dvds were needed. No proof, of course, but the theory is very possible.

Exactly... Its funny that cows always laugh that some games are on 2 discs (which usually require to swap disc just once or twice during whole campaign). It just takes few seconds...mandatory instalations takes way more time and somehow lems dont make threat about it in every ocasion.

Switching discs takes 1/20th of the effort of using move/kinect , soon people will want discs that get out of cases and levitate straight into the disc drive =S

Worst news ever you have to get off your butt for 5 secs

It's not the getting up your seat, but interrupting the experience(even though it's only for a little moment) Installing the game would fix this minor annoyance(though I won't lie, I prefer having the game in one disc).

Yeah but most people don't sit there and play a game from start to finish in one sitting. There will always be breaks. It isn't going to make you swap the disc mid battle or anything.

I find it kind of amusing how people are more willing to sit through 5-10 minutes of installation than get up for 15-20 seconds to switch a disc. Are we really that lazy? Why are these same people not advocating mandatory full-game installations or full digital distribution so you don't have to ever swap discs between games?

360 fans are so quick to dismiss the disc-switching issue and say "but I can install!" Hahahha! Remember how "installs were stupid" when they were required on the PS3? Disc-swapping isn't a big deal, but disc scratching IS a big deal, and even if you install the game, you still have to switch discs to "prove" you own that portion of the game. EA has already confirmed this. Switching discs adds the risk of scratching the disc. It has nothing to do with "lolololo get off your lazy butt and switch the disc". It has to do with "lololololo I switched the disc and my 360 drive scratched it". I'm going to be replaying Dead Space 2 several times and I'm glad to know that I'll only have to put the disc in once (and leave it there for weeks. bwaahaha!)

There are still games that require mandatory installs on PS3. There are no games that require an install to be played on 360, it's all optional.

:P True. This is a non issue to me. I mean I played through Lost Odyssey and strangely never felt overworked by the disc changes. I'm surprised this still rates a new topic everytime a game goes with more than one disc on the 360.

yes, you're correct. disc swapping isn't a big deal. but disc scratching is a big deal. mine has scratched a disc. perhaps i shouldn't have been trying to run a 5k while playing my 360.
