360 fans are so quick to dismiss the disc-switching issue and say "but I can install!" Hahahha! Remember how "installs were stupid" when they were required on the PS3? Disc-swapping isn't a big deal, but disc scratching IS a big deal, and even if you install the game, you still have to switch discs to "prove" you own that portion of the game. EA has already confirmed this. Switching discs adds the risk of scratching the disc. It has nothing to do with "lolololo get off your lazy butt and switch the disc". It has to do with "lololololo I switched the disc and my 360 drive scratched it". I'm going to be replaying Dead Space 2 several times and I'm glad to know that I'll only have to put the disc in once (and leave it there for weeks. bwaahaha!)Mrmccormo
how are you opening your 360? unless you kick it down to switch disks then nothing will happen. Funny thing is, even if you kick it down while the prompt to switch discs is up nothing will happen to the disc. it stops spinning when that prompt is up. yeah so much for scratching sics. there nothing wrong with switching discs. it won't be scratched if you're using the 360 correctly. end.

yes, you're correct. disc swapping isn't a big deal. but disc scratching is a big deal. mine has scratched a disc. perhaps i shouldn't have been trying to run a 5k while playing my 360.clone01
So, on the one hand, it's no big deal to get up and switch a disc. But on the other hand, getting up and moving your feet (which can vibrate the floor) runs no risk of scratching the disc. Which is it? :D You can't have it both ways. Getting up and switching discs requires walking or crawling. Walking or crawling on the floor has the potential to vibrate the floor. Vibrating the floor has the potential to shake the 360. Shaking the 360 has the potential to scratch the disc. It's simple logic.

EDIT: also what if I had my 360 on a cabnit sitting on 2 inch thick carpeting? I wins!

Is disk swapping a big deal...no, however its nice not to have to... It's like power stearing or power windows.. you don't them but it's sure nice to have them.

funny, i've never scratched a disc. i'm sorry you have this problem. my suggestion is to check with a building contractor, as they have apparently used a material inappropriate for support construction. A good rule of thumb is to take a close look at your floor. If it appears to be made of trampoline springs, you most likely dwell in a building that is not up to code.

certainly. then again, unless you have no hard drive (the 4 gig or arcade model), installs are always an option.

Not a big deal, those who play it on the 360 will enjoy it all the same. That said, one disk is clearly preferable. I was getting the PS3 version anyway, so good deal for me.

actually after a insident in a golf cart I'm pretty sure power steering is needed on streets. Also after watching my dad drive a porsche from 1987 (which was plain hilarious) I'm positive that you need power steering in 95% of instances (especially if you drive a bit faster than the average Joe.

So does that mean that the game will be longer than the first one?

[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"][QUOTE="James161324"]

Worst news ever you have to get off your butt for 5 secs

James161324

It's not the getting up your seat, but interrupting the experience(even though it's only for a little moment) Installing the game would fix this minor annoyance.

Its called install the game.

Funny you mention that cause the model that lems are always touting in price war threads, is the model that doesn't give you that ability. So being that the arcade model is the most recommended, I think it's pretty logical to assume that most lems own the arcade model and thus won't have that choice. :)

That's one more disc your 360 can scratch and make your game entire game unplayable (depending on which one was scratched first).
It won't be too long before you'll have to enter Disc 5 for multiplats.

Hmmm, at the start of the gen I told lemmings that their dvd-9 just wouldn't cut it once we got a few years in. I got flamed for about 10 pages back when this whole board was basically all lemmings with a few cows.

My how the times have changed. I also find it funny that the lems swarmed in to defend the 360 requiring a disc swap when we all know if the tables were turned they'd be just as quick to call the PS3 a POS for needing to swap discs(Just as cows would defend the disc swaps). Ah well.

What's really bothersome to me is this is a multiplatform game. Aren't they generally smaller then exclusives or am I wrong about this?

[QUOTE="FIipMode"] Blu-ray was definitely a good idea, games are getting bigger. IronBass
It was not. Not from a gaming standpoint, at least. It served its purpose, which was helping Sony win the format war, but avoiding disc-swaps is not really a positive income when added everything lost because of it.

I have no idea what you just said

Meh, even as a 360 basher it's not a big deal, you get up to switch games when you want to play something else, if you take it out of the console when you turn it off, you get up to put it in as well.

Unless you're so obese that you can't handle getting up to swap a disc then it's not really that big of a issue. I'd still buy the PS3 version though due to the convenience but for those who don't own a PS3 then the 360 version doesn't seem to be all that different to me.

"Being the first to market with a next-gen console was a genius move by Microsoft, but as the years go on it's going to have to start paying the price. We're beginning to see the cracks now, the odd game here and there requiring an extra disc and before we know it, it's going to be industry standard. We can understand it when massive games like Blue Dragon or Final Fantasy XIII require more then one disc, but Dead Space 2? Really? DVDs are great, but in this day and age of super-duper HD visuals, clearly, BD's are going to have the edge - it's maths and you can't argue with maths."

So the PS3 version gets the game, and also exclusive rail shoot game all on one disc while the 360 needs two discs just for the game itself? I love blu-ray.

Link.

Zune_HD

This is dumb, getting off your couch for a few seconds to change a disc isn't a big deal. It's nice to have the convenience but it's not exactly the end of the world like has been made out to be by so many fanboys.

I think the multiplayer may have something to do with needing multiple discs. I'm surprised no one has questioned it yet.

And you have to wait an extra 7 minutes for the second disk to be installed.

Oooohhh...God noooo....sooo much trouble. Besides it's a moot point VCR's and Cassette's aren't even in circulation any more and DVD is still a standard format, try again.

Changing discs is a non issue. If I don't have to great if I do meh I can't see why anyone would be hung up on this.

yes, you're correct. disc swapping isn't a big deal. but disc scratching is a big deal. mine has scratched a disc. perhaps i shouldn't have been trying to run a 5k while playing my 360.

Good one! There is always a danger of scratching any disc while putting it in! That is a crazy point!

Yea...when most weren't so lazy as to complain about it.

Well then why don't you go back to rewinding things on your VCR and cassette tapes mr. I'm not lazy.

You can still buy VHS tapes at Walmart, so there must still be some market for it.
